Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Remus had spent the better part of a week being interrogated and re-introduced to Fenrir's pack. But Fenrir had always liked him, and some of the others who remembered him had been happy enough to accept him back. The plan had worked, so far. Today was the day he was in the most danger.

Remus moved through the halls of Hogwarts with the rest of the people Fenrir had selected to accompany him to Hogwarts, limping just a little from the torture that had been meant to make him confess anything he'd done wrong. He'd been through worse. It hadn't been as bad as what could potentially happen to him here.

Fenrir was looking forward to having his wolves in Riddle's school, even if Riddle didn't want him to stay personally. The man got too uptight about his kids. He led his wolves up to Riddle's office and knocked on the door.

Remus paused as he looked at the door. "I thought you and your father both wanted us to keep our distance," he said. "You've made your feelings on wolves in general and me in particular very clear. You'd probably be more comfortable without one beside you."

"Do you think I'm going to put you somewhere I can't keep an eye on you?" Merlin asked, snorting. How could Remus even think that? There was no way that Merlin would let someone in the school he didn't trust be far away. The rooms were a little too nice for a wolf, but he wanted to keep on eye on him.

He pushed open the doors. "In you go." He told him. "Your shift doesn't start until tomorrow."

The rooms didn't look like the sort of accommodations Remus had expected, so this was definitely Merlin acting on his own volition. Still, if he managed to make Merlin come around and like him -- or at least not actively despise him -- it would make Hogwarts a lot easier.

"It was kind of you to escort me," he said, stepping into the room. He felt tense, waiting for some sort of trap or spell. He could get out of a locked room easily enough, but if he got hit with Crucio because he let himself be cornered it would be his own fault for being careless. "I'll make sure to stay out of your way tomorrow."

Merlin stepped into the room with Remus and arched a brow. He took a look around, then pointed at the door in the corner. "That leads to my room. But, it will remain locked if I have company. Don't make yourself known." He looked down at Remus. "Where are your bags?"

"Bags?" Remus repeated, laughing a little. Merlin must have a lot of faith in his magic, to put Remus in a room that shared a door with his. Or be convinced enough that he was better than wolves that he didn't think he needed to worry about Remus breaking a locking charm. "I'm a werewolf. I don't have bags. We all have the clothes on our back. The pack is nomadic. Bags would be an inconvenience."

"You're-" Merlin wrinkled his nose at that. "You're going to wear the same outfit every day?" He asked and then shook his head. "That's disgusting. I'll make sure my father gives you... some sort of uniform."

Remus laughed again. Sirius had reacted similarly when he'd first really realized what being a werewolf was like, although his solution had been continually offering to buy Remus new clothes. "You'll have to tell the other wolves to bathe," he said. "Fenrir doesn't believe in washing. I still have the habit from before I was turned."

"We'll have to share my bath." Merlin told Remus as he looked him over carefully, then shrugged. "It's between our rooms. Make sure to knock before you come in and if I'm with someone, don't even bother knocking. I'll be occupying the bathroom for a while."

Remus held in a snort at that, nodding and doing his best to look like he was taking Merlin seriously. "Of course," he said. He looked back at Merlin for a moment, studying him the same careful way Merlin was looking at him. "You must really not trust me if you're willing to share your things like this."
