Draco was beside himself with anger and worry, trembling as he clutched at Merlin's hand and his mother worked to heal whatever was making him bleed like that. "Merlin never does anything wrong!" Draco insisted. "It's not fair, Mum. Nobody should have to go through this. You can't let Tom do this to him again. I don't care if he's his father."
Narcissa pressed a tissue to Merlin's nose to stem the bleeding, humming softly as she held him close to her chest and did her best to patch him up. She wasn't a healer. She really only had practice with things like scraped elbows and knees. "You're not going to say anything to Tom," she told Draco, running her fingers through Merlin's hair and then wiping the blood away from his ears and neck. "You're going to focus on taking care of Merlin and making sure he rests. Don't let him do anything strenuous. Keep your voice soft."
Draco looked at his mother for a moment, then nodded and moved closer to Merlin, hugging him tightly and letting his mother hold them both. "I'm sorry, Merlin," he whispered.
Narcissa kissed Draco's hair and then pressed her lips to Merlin's forehead. "I prescribe milkshakes and chocolate and cake and love for the next few days," she said. "I'm flooing Pansy's parents and telling them she can't come over tomorrow. I want you rested. Draco will read to you and I'll pamper you both."
