Narcissa wasn't due for another week, so when she started to feel the unpleasant pinch of contractions twinging through her lower abdomen, she'd put it down to Braxton Hicks contractions and tried to ignore them. She rubbed her stomach as she played with Valentine, wincing a little as a particular strong contraction ran through her. If she waited another hour Augustus would be home from work, and delivering the baby, if she got everyone all worked up now, would probably take that long anyway.

Another contraction hit, much closer than she'd been expecting, and Narcissa gasped in pain. Waiting would also slow down the drugs. "V-Val, can you use the Floo for Mummy?" Narcissa asked, closing her eyes and leaning back against the couch. "The baby is coming."

Lucius moved to Narcissa's side, sitting on the edge of her bed. "Evan told me," he said. "Does he have any idea?"

It took Narcissa a moment to work out what Lucius was talking about. She frowned at him, and then at Evan. "No, I don't think so," she said. "Let's not talk about that. I have other things on my mind right now. Draco's supposed to come and look after Valentine."

"I'm here," Draco said, hovering in the doorway. One of the ghosts had come and pulled him out of class to tell him to go home, which was a little disturbing. He glance down at the small child in his mother's room. "You want me to look after Valentine? Are you okay?"

Narcissa was in pain, but she remembered how Draco had hovered when Valentine was born. "I'm fine," she said. "I've done it before. Take Valentine to your rooms. The house-elves will bring you food when it's time for him to eat. I --" Narcissa squeezed her eyes shut as another contraction hit. "I want pain potions."

	Augustus ran from the floo as soon as his boss had let him come home, looking down at Narcissa and taking her hand. "I'm so sorry." He told her and kissed her forehead, smiling down at her. "I'm here now. How are you feeling?" Rabastan walked into the room. "The Dark Lord asked me to come to oversee the delivery. How far apart are the contractions?" (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	"Of course I do." Rabastan pulled out the potion and pressed it against her lips. He looked down at her belly, wondering how her stomach was so small when she was carrying Augustus's baby. He'd seen Macnair births. Augustus smiled down at her as she drank the potion, then glanced at Lucius. "We're hoping for a girl this time." (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	"I'm sorry, baby." Augustus let her squeeze his hand and smiled at her. "Squeeze my hand as hard as you can. I'll make it all better. I promise." He told her, then kissed her forehead. "Push again."
