Who: Marcus Flint and Dominic Montague
What: Well, family stuff, it's likely to be awkward.
Where: St. Mungo's
When: Sunday 29th Jan (backdated)
Rating: Erm PG?
Status: Incomplete

Marcus wasn't fond of St. Mungo's. The last time he had been there; he'd had a punctured lung. This time as a visitor, he didn't feel much more at ease. Finding himself outside the building almost as soon as he'd read Min's last message, Flint pushed his way through the inevitable crowd in the waiting area and headed upstairs. Spell Damage didn't sound good. What could have happened to have his cousin up there? A million and one things seemed to flash through his mind, none of them good. Min had seemed healthy the last time Marcus had seen him, shouting at teammates as they'd blamed the 'fledgeling' for their defeat. Which lead him to think that it was a family member, either his Aunt or Uncle, that was sick.

Arriving at the correct ward, he paused outside the half closed door and lightly tapped on it before peering round into the room. Dominic and Aunt Acacia were beside the bed.... it was his Uncle who was ill. His Mother's only brother.

Marcus waited in the doorway for permission to move into the room; he knew their family wasn't the closest. So there would be no warm greeting, or even words at all. At his Aunt's glance, he silently moved to the free chair, making sure to close the door behind him. His Uncle looked frail, lying there in the narrow bed. Aunt Acacia looked drawn, as if her husband's illness was slowly making her sick too.

Marcus' attention went to his cousin next, Min hadn't spoken, which wasn't altogether surprising. Conversations between the two weren't lengthy, but they had been getting better since Dominic had returned from Australia. Now though, Marcus wished he could be a little more like the man he was currently seeing. George would know what to say, no doubt, to comfort a family member in need. But Marcus was at a loss.

Feeling eyes on him Dominic looked across to his cousin, the awkward silence in the air was thick. His thought process seemed clear on his face for once, too tired to put up the mask of emotionlessness he usually hide behind. Sighing heavily, Dominic pushed himself to the edge of his seat, moving to get up.

"Graham, where are you going?" Acacia looked up at her son, a slight confusion on her face.

"It's Dominic," Dominic replied, an automatic reaction he had since he could talk and knew his own name whenever his mother called him Graham. "Tea room." He continued shortly before pushing himself out of the chair and turning toward Marcus. "Come on, Skip. Let's get out of here."

He moved toward the door of the room, not really caring if Marcus followed or not. Dominic just wanted to get out of there - away from the awkward silence. It was like they were just waiting for his father to keel over. It was utterly despressing.

He could see Min was uncomfortable sitting there and he was about to suggest leaving, on the pretense of getting something to eat and drink, when his cousin stood. It seemed like Dominic had the same idea. Glancing at his Aunt quickly, he nodded before following his cousin from the room.

Once out of earshot as the door closed behind them he turned to Min. 'How long has he been like this?' Marcus knew they weren't exactly the closest of families; but he'd have thought something like this would have been reason to talk sooner. He could see the effect his Uncle's illness was having on Min, not just on the Quidditch pitch, but off it too. Dominic looked as if he hadn't slept in a while.

The question caused Dominic to hesitate, clearly not used to discussing such topics. "Last Wednesday one of the House Elves found him unconcious in his study." He tried to sound detatched, not so he appeared that he didn't care but so he could pretend it was happening to someone else.

Dominic sighed and ran a hand through his hair - it was longer than he normally kept it but he couldn't bring himself to be bothered to cut it. It was time to come clean as to why he really returned home.

"Dad's been sick since before I came home." He confessed, feeling awkward and not able to make eye contact with his cousin. "He got better over Christmas so we just thought he was run down from working too hard. But now..." Dominic trailed off, knowing Skip would get the idea.
