MINISTER TO ATTEND HALLOWEEN FESTIVAL
By Rita Skeeter
Early this morning a statement was released that the Minister of Magic, Pius Thicknesse, is indeed attending the Ministry's Halloween Festival in Hogsmeade. The Festival has been in the works for most of the month however it was unsure whether the Minister himself would attend as he had been scheduled to be in France for the French Minister's wife's birthday. But, the Minister has decided to forgo the birthday celebrations of the foreign Minister's wife and attend the Halloween Festival instead. Could this spell disaster with international relations between the French and ourselves? Only time will tell on that one, Prophet readers.

Rumour has it though, the Minister's decision to stay home and attend the Halloween Festival has something to do with the state of unrest the public are starting to feel toward the Ministry. The latest in the polls show that the Knights of Walpurgis are losing favour within the middle-class citizens and more and more protests against the current Ministry are popping up all over the nation. Perhaps it's wise that the Minister forgoes the French Minister's wife's birthday and handles the problems at home first.

The Halloween Festivals are planned for Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade with various activities going on for people of all ages. There is a fireworks display planned for both Festivals with fireworks supplied by the famous Mr. Fillibuster and all money raised on the day will go to help build the new Children's Ward at St. Mungo's Hospital.
Students at Hogwarts (third year and up) will be allowed to attend the Festival in Hogsmeade from eight in the morning till eight in the evening. Students in first and second years will, for the first time in seventy years, also be allowed to attend Hogsmeade with parental permission but will have to return to the school by five, where there will be a Feast and more activities for them to do. School will return to normal on Wednesday.

In other news, the final round of the first half of the Quidditch Season plays this weekend before a brief break and then straight into the National Trials and Representative Matches, all in preparation for the World Cup starting in June next year. There are already a few favourites on National Selectors shortlists for the teams but no names have been released to the press at this time.

Who would you like to see make the National Squads for England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales this year? We ask you, the readers, to take a vote and see if your favourite player makes the cut. Look out in future issues for the teams as names are revealed in the coming weeks.
