Summary: Cho & Penny get together to check out the club and catch up.

Cho wasn't quite sure what might go on at a club, so she wore a little black shirt and a pair of jeans, her normal black flat boots. She'd been running around the apartment straightening things up since finished getting ready, her hair up in a loose chignon and and wrapped a silver choker around her neck - it had been a gift from Cedric one Christmas, she recalled fondly.

Cho hadn't been completely honest when she told Penny she wans't all that big on fancy dress, and as she stared at her bursting closet she felt a bit bad. She was a total clothes horse, but most of it - in her defense - really was for work or training. Sure, the thing she owned the most of in the world were books - which owned her living room and kitchen, with every available space used to store them on shelves or in piles stacked up - but her closet didn't have any semblance of organization and so she started taking out tops she thought might be good for a night at a club. Black, dark blue, silver, even a pale yellow one depending on what Penny might like. There was one with sequence along the seams, and one with a lacy high collar that she'd gotten for Olliver's fireworks party.

Having set out quite a selection, Cho summoned a bottle of wine and a glass into the living room and settled in to wait for the floo with a deep glass of Cabernet.

Her dark-wash, boot-cut denims were clean and pressed and Penelope thought that they hugged her backside quite nicely. It was the only pair of denims she had that weren't scorched or mended several times.

She had no top, however, and she was very skeptical about her work boots. They were clean but very scuffed and - well - work boots.

Putting on a t-shirt and a flannel work shirt over it, Penelope went outside of her tent and apparated to the main house that had a floo connected to it.

When she arrived inside Cho's home, she stepped out with ash covering her and gave Cho a pitiful smile.

"Help?"

Cho couldn't help a bright smile as she jumped up from her small sofa. "You've come to the right place!" She summoned another wineglass and crossed the room to give penny a hug. "I may have understated my total addiction to clothing in our letters... I mean, I'm a ballgown and robes type girl, but I do, it seems, own nearly a shopping mall's worth of tops alone." She grinned and pointed Penny in the direction of the selections she'd made, hanging off of bookshelves throughout the room, as she poured wine for her old friend.

"So, tell me, how's it feel to be home?" She topped off her glass and couldn't help but let her worries - compounded the last few days thanks to Johnny's Christmas gift to her Mum - roll off of her tense shoulders.

Clothes, wine, music, books, dragons... These were things she could talk about with Penny that wouldn't remind her of her parents, and she needed that.

"Careful of the ashes," Penelope warned with a laugh, hugging Cho. When they parted, Penny brushed off some from Cho's shoulder.

"You are heaven sent. I'm such a total mess at the moment and...ooo, is that wine?"

She gratefully took a glass from Cho and downed half of it in one gulp.

"It's wonderful to be back home. Well, back in Britain, at least." Penelope sighed. "My job placement isn't what I had hoped, but I really can't complain too much about it."

Penelope looked at the clothes hanging every where and grinned. "So, what should I wear? And what size foot are you, because if I have to wear these boots..."

Cho waved off Penny's concern about the ashes and while the two looked at the options she poured another glass for her company.

"Well, it depends on what you're comfortable with, and I definitely have another pair of boots you can borrow," she said absent mindedly, turning toward her bedroom door and shouting over her shoulder, "Does a size 7 do?" she asked, leaning over to rummage through the bottom of her closet, emerging with a pair of flat brown dress boots in leather.

"What do you think of the teal?" She asked, thinking of the boots and the jeans and her blouses. "Oh! I have a shrug that'll match the boots, too, and it might be more comfortable," Cho thought outloud, reaching into her coat closet and pulling out a brown knit shrug.

"So, no sparkles or plunges, I promise," Cho smiled, presenting the boots and shrug as if in offering.

Finding a seat, Penelope sipped at the rest of her wine as Cho went about and sorted out something for Penelope to wear. Penelope hadn't meant to drink her wine so fast at first, but she was nervous.

Meeting up with a former Ravenclaw - someone younger too - and then socializing at a club which Penelope hadn't been to in years...it was overwhelming.

"Oh, Cho that's so perfect," Penelope said in awe as she was presented with the outfit. "The boots will be a size big but that's easy to sort out with a mild reduction spell."

Putting her wine glass down, Penelope took the offered items.

"Where is your loo and I'll go change."

Cho pointed to the door past her bedroom, "Glad you like it, and feel free to re-size anything you need, it's always easy enough to fix."

As Penny went to change, Cho grabbed the bottle of wine and waved her wand to re-cork it, then sent the left over shirts and sweaters back into her closet. From the living-room she could hear them jostling for space in the closet and she couldn't help but giggle to herself. She really did have to do something about all that.

Hearing the bathroom door open again she gave it her attention and smiled at the emerging Penny, who looked awesome.

Trying to be quick about it, Penelope changed in Cho's loo and even dabbed on some eyeshadow with her fingers. Her lipstick had finally dried out. Penelope thought that maybe Cho could help her with some shopping, especially if she was going to the Ravenclaw reunion.

"So, how does it look?"

Penelope bit her lip, turning around for Cho to inspect.

"I promise not to spill any drinks on the shirt, and I'll return everything tomorrow."

"Fantastic!" Cho exclaimed, "Your charms work is outstanding, btw," she took in the way the clothes hung perfectly on Penny and nodded in approval. "I don't think you give your innate fashion sense nearly enough credit." Cho concluded.

Laughing she told Penny not to worry about it and then, "Shall we then?" She grabbed her purse, tucked her wand into it, and looked to Penny expectantly, "Shall we?" She asked, the butterflies in her belly beginning.

"Have you ever been?" She asked before she apparated, feeling silly for being a 20 year old, professional woman and having never been to a club out of fear of her father's disapproval.

"Well, mucking about with dragons and working with men for the past five years has taken its toll on my wardrobe. I'm going to have to go shopping for more appropriate wear and new make-up if I'm to show my face at the reunion next week."

Thinking that Cho was more experienced with clubs, Penelope shrugged and shook her head.

"Not in Britain. There are a few in Romania that the boys took me along with, but I doubt they are anything like the one you're taking me to."

She apparated after Cho, and when she arrived it was alone in an alley.

"Cho?"

Cho giggled, nervous, and apparated, arriving just around the corner from the alley she'd intended to land in. Saying a small prayer to the gods that there were no Muggles around at this particular moment, she scooted quickly around the corner and into the alley, to find Penelope.

"Here!" She laughed, raising her hand, "I mis-shot, it seems," she caught her breath and looked at the spelled door at the end of the alley. "Well then, we have some drinking and catching up to do," her resolve was firm and she figured they'd probably at least see some familiar faces, it being the Twins' place and all.

Taking Penelope's arm and looping it through hers she joked, "Ready for an official relaunch into British society?"

"Oh thank Merlin," Penelope said, clutching Cho's arm and giggling as she was giddy from apparating and also from nerves. "I thought I had lost you and then I would have been in trouble."

She nodded, letting Cho lead the way. "That wine was a nice beginner, but I could go for a stronger drink than that right now. And yes, we do have to catch up though I think your life has probably been more exciting."

Penelope took a deep breath before they were checked into line. "Would it be terrible of me to admit that I'd rather face a pissed off Welsh Green at the moment?"
