Charlotte usually went wherever Elodie did. Her cousin was older than her, and spent a lot of time at their house, so it made sense. Plus, Elodie was older and even if she liked weird things and was a bit violent, Charlotte still liked her. She was cool. Today, she was over at Xavier's house playing with her stuffed unicorn while Elodie and Xavier played with their dolls.

Charlotte glanced at the other boy in the room, who she'd met a couple times but was too shy to talk to, and watched him chew on his sheep for a bit before she crawled over to him. "Hi," she said, sitting next to him. "I have a unicorn."

	And just like that, Charlotte was gone. His first day back to school was abysmal. He sat down beside Scorpius and adjusted his tie miserably. He didn't know what to do or how long it would be before he got to see her. But, they had emails. Which she hadn't sent yet. He stared at his skype on his laptop, just waiting for her name to pop up. Charlotte actually really liked it in France so far, which was why she was having trouble writing an email to Bruno. She missed him, of course. Like crazy. But France was so French and the uniforms and the people and just... everything was so elegant.

She signed on to skype during her free period in the library and clicked on his name. There was no putting it off anymore.

Charlotte was not going to tell Bruno that she'd been making friends with the other girls at school and shopping with her mum and sight-seeing. You didn't always need to tell the truth when you knew the truth might hurt the feelings of someone you cared about.

This was what he was worried about. That was almost an entire year without seeing her. At least seven months. He'd not gone longer than four hours without seeing her since they were babies. He glanced at his teacher, who was going on about saving the environment, then looked back at the screen.

There was a large red circle on his calendar. It was marked for the day Charlotte would be coming home. And it wasn't getting any here any faster. Bruno turned over the page of his calendar to mark the second month that she'd been gone. He let out a sigh.

But, tonight was for fun. He was going out with his friends. "I think I'm ready to go." He told Jude as he mussed up his hair. "Or you could put me out of my misery."

Bruno needed a distraction. Jude got that he'd been attached at the hip to Charlotte since they were babies, but it was kind of pathetic to walk around mooning over a girl who wasn't even your girlfriend. "You just need a break from thinking about her."

He crossed his arms over his chest. "We're going to get you drunk and throw you at girls and you'll be fine. A night out is just what the doctor ordered."

"You're going to throw me at girls?" Bruno asked with a laugh and then pulled on his faux-leather jacket. He shook his head and started to walk out of his house, rolling his eyes at his friend. "Aren't I a bit too big to throw at girls? Might get yourself a lawsuit."

"No more of one than when Jude hits on girls who don't like it." Cepheus pointed out with a nod, leaning against his car. "Are you boys ready to become men tonight?"

"I am already a man," Jude informed Cepheus. He reached up and ruffled Bruno's hair. "But our little Bruno is going to become a man tonight. That's the point of throwing him at girls. My father can deal with any lawsuits that arise."

Scorpius laughed. "I think Bruno's best bet is to do the opposite of what you normally do, if he wants to impress girls," he said. "You get slapped a lot."

"And then they kiss me." Jude waved a hand dismissively. "You can all make fun of me as much as you want, but I've actually shagged girls before. And being gay is no excuse."

"I've shagged a girl before." Jaden pointed out as he lit a fag and looked at the other so-called men in front of him. He grinned and opened the car door. "Come on, boys. Get inside."

"Hold up. I've got to get something." Bruno felt kind of nervous and he just wanted things to work out. So he went back into the house. "Come on." He grabbed Xavier's hand. "You're going out with us tonight."

Xavier looked up at Bruno and raised an eyebrow. "With you and your friends?" Bruno had been wandering around the house depressed since Charlotte and her mum left. Xavier nodded and got to his feet. "All right. I can probably handle one night out on the town." He grabbed his jacket and followed Bruno out the door.

"Finally." Jude looked up at them. "Let's get out of here and paint the town red. Boy's night out."

Bruno felt kind of odd standing in a pub. Which wasn't really even a pub. It was some sort of club with flashing lights and thumping music. He had a beer in hand and was standing beside his brother, watching Albus and Scorpius dance on the floor.

"Maybe I should try and find someone to dance with." Bruno suggested, glancing at his phone to see if Charlotte had texted him.

Xavier looked down at Bruno and nodded his approval. "You should," he said, watching him check his phone. Xavier sighed, reaching out and taking it from his brother. "Bruno, come on. You can't stand around waiting for her to text."

He tucked the phone in his pocket. "I'll come get you immediately if you get a message, but you need to have fun. Go hit on girls with Jude and Jaden or something."

Bruno knew that Xavier was right. That didn't make him want to go out and do it though. Even if Charlotte hadn't been his girlfriend, she was still his best friend in the entire world. And he just missed her.

He sighed and walked over to Jude and Jaden, looking between them. "Okay. Show me how to do this."

"Alright!" Jaden smiled, rubbing his hands together. "Now see. What'cha have to do is spot a girl in the crowd you really want to shag and just go up to her and offer to buy her a drink. Get her really drunk and she won't care how big your cock is."

Jude snorted, rolling his eyes at Jaden. "That's one method," he said. "The other method is to talk to her a bit and tell her she's pretty and shit like that. Offer her a drink and be charming. Dance with her. Then shag her brains out. Easy."

He ruffled Bruno's hair. "Or, if you're not feeling brave, wait for Scorpius and Cepheus to have to explain that they're gay and comfort the misguided girls who hit on them with your dick."

"Xavier told me I'm not allowed to wait anymore. I'm supposed to be actively doing something." He pointed out and looked around the club. It was kind of hard to see anyone with all the flashing lights. And it was dark outside of that.

He sighed and ran a hand through his hair, then walked towards a brunette girl. "Hello." He nodded at her and smiled. "I noticed you from over there. Can I buy you a drink?"
