Cepheus turned and grabbed the plate, but froze when James asked about Xavier. He bit his lip hard and fidgeted with the plate, then made it to the microwave to put it in. Now his stomach hurt and he wasn't sure what he was even feeling.
Was it guilt? Why would he feel guilty? He and James weren't together or anything. "No. He didn't want to stay for dinner. He had to get back to Caspar so he could ask him out officially."
He turned and looked at James. "Sometimes when you break up with someone you've loved for two years, when you first see each other again, the feelings all rush back. And he and I didn't exactly break it off in a good way. Or easily. So those feelings were still there. Whatever you heard was just.. what happened. And we're not together or anything."
