Pyxis wasn't feeling very good. She'd been having trouble sleeping again, mostly because her stomach was always upset and she was always nauseous. She rubbed at her stomach absently as she lay in the bed in her own room, feeling lonely since Walden had told her she couldn't stay in his office anymore. And he hadn't come to really see her in two days.

What had she done wrong? She chewed at her bottom lip, tugging at the bottom of her shirt, putting it over her knees as she curled into a ball.

"Why would you want a baby anyway?" Rider asked, frowning a little as he looked down at Pyxis. "It'd just fuck your life up if you tried to keep it. And it's not like we live in the nineteenth century. They can't take your baby away for good unless you prove you're unfit forever. If you want to keep it. They didn't take me from my mother, she kept insisting that she didn't want me back."

	Rider thought about it for a moment, looking Pyxis over, and then sighed. "All right," he said. "I'll do it. You don't have to twist my arm." He reached out and ruffled her hair. "Honestly, I think people are more likely to believe I knocked you up then they are the truth. And Walden's my half-brother so we've basically got the same genes anyway." 	Pyxis looked at Rider for a moment, giving him a soft smile. When had he become this person? Someone she could truly tolerate and whom she'd began to love. He was her best friend and it was so odd.
