Who: bb!Roxas and bb!Nero
When: Um like 10 years before the current canon storylines I guess? And like, late afternoon I guess
Where: Twilight Town's sandlot. Obviously, this is very much AU, if you haven't guessed already, lawl
Open/Closed: Closed

It was just another day in Twilight Town, the constant evening sun giving the town a soft orange glow. And like a lot of days in Twilight Town, five year old Roxas was wandering the streets. He was happy actually, because he'd finally saved up enough money from chores to buy himself a sea-salt ice cream bar, so he did just that.

He was on his way from Market Street to the Sandlot, carrying the ice cream in one hand while eating it, and in his other hand he dragged a little red wagon behind him. The red wagon was filled with little plastic shovels, buckets, and sand castle molds. He always waited until later in the afternoon to come out and play because, well, he wanted to avoid the other kids, who liked to make fun of Roxas because he was smaller than them. Sometimes he was able to avoid them, other times he wasn't so lucky. But hey, at least today he had his ice cream. That made everything better.

It was about then that Nero was making his way into the Sandlot as well. His mother had given the 5 year old a sea salt ice cream bar from the freezer and shooed him to go outside to play for awhile until she called him in for dinner. Pleased with this, Nero made his way to see if there was anything to do.

Eating his ice cream, Nero scanned the Sandlot. He spotted a small blond boy, probably about as old as he was, playing in the sand alone. Usually Nero kept to himself, but well, it looked like fun, and the boy looked all alone. Maybe he could make a friend today.

Roxas had the ice cream bar inside his mouth and kind of sucking on it as he sat on the sand. He gathered up some sand in one of the castle molds, packing it in as good as he could, his wagon next to him. He spotted the other boy out of the corner of his eye and looked up at him. He hadn't seen him around before.

The other boy was bigger than he was. Then again, so were most of the other kids in this town. He wasn't here to make fun of him was he? Maybe not. He seemed different somehow.

Roxas set the castle mold down as he pulled the ice cream out of his mouth for a moment. "Wanna play?"

	Nero gave the boy a smile and nodded. "Sure." He walked over to where Roxas was sitting and sat down himself. He took a bit of his ice cream, smiling around it at the fact that Roxas had his own. "You like sea salt too?" He asked before holding his ice cream bar in his mouth and helping gather up more sand. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Roxas gave a big smile. "Yeah! It's my favorite. I finally saved enough money for one!" He stuffed it in his mouth again as he picked up another castle mold that he wasn't using and offered it to Nero, smiling around his ice cream. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Nero smiled back at him, gladly taking the mold Roxas handed him and placing it over the mound of gathered sand he'd made, packing it all in. Once the mold was over the sand he took his ice cream out of his mouth to speak. "Mom gave me some as a snack. It's my favorite too." He said. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Roxas turned his mold over, creating a nice castle tower of sand. He smiled at Nero and patted the sand next to his tower, pulling the ice cream out to speak again. "Let's make a big castle!" (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Nero nodded. "Yeah! Let's make one to take up the whole Sandlot!" He said, giving Roxas a grin before putting his ice cream back in his mouth, almost finished with it. With that, he removed the mold from the sand, and began to gather more to make another tower. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	"Yeah!" Roxas agreed. He began making another tower, packing the sand in as good as he could. By now he was finished with his ice cream, but continued to nibble on the stick in his mouth. "I hope no one steps on it this time..." (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Nero finished up his ice cream, setting the stick aside as he put the mold around the mound of sand. "Somebody stepped on it?" He asked, looking up at Roxas. That was mean. Why would someone do that? "Well, no one is gonna step on this one." Nero reassured him. If they did, they'd have to deal with him. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

Roxas looked down at the sand, packing it as he answered. "I made a big castle once and some mean kids stepped on it and got sand in my hair. I wanted to beat them up but it was time for dinner. I hope they don't destroy our castle."

He made another tower with the sand he'd packed next to Nero's tower, fitting them close together. Nero was a lot nicer than the other kids...

	Nero frowned. "Well if they do, we'll hit 'em so hard they'll...they'll fly to the sun." Nero said with a nod. They'd worked hard on this sandcastle and he liked Roxas. If anyone tried to disturb that, he'd be angry and whoever had tried to mess with them would wind up with a black eye or worse, if Nero had anything to say about it. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

Nero smiled at Roxas. "You're awesome too. We should meet out here all the time!" In fact, Nero was going to ask his mom if Roxas could come over sometime and have ice cream. That'd be fun.

Nero pulled the mold off the sand, creating another tower and began to build a mound for the next one. It was nice to have a friend. Most of the kids would sometimes pick on him because of his white hair, but Roxas didn't seem to notice, only happy to play with him. "If our moms let us, do you wanna meet out here tomorrow?"

	Nero nodded. "Yeah! Then later we can go back to my house. Mom'll give us ice cream." He said brightly as he moved to help Roxas with the bridge. 	"Thanks." Roxas said. He smiled as they continued to finish the bridge together. Nero was the nicest and coolest kid he'd ever met out here. He really liked him a lot already. 	Nero looked at the castle, pondering for a second. It looked great. "It needs something, though." Nero said, looking down spotting his ice cream stick. "Ah, I got it." Nero picked his stick up to show Roxas. "It can be a flagpole." He said. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)
