Melanie smiled her thanks as she accepted the bag from him, afraid to open her mouth and have everything spilling out in a second. If she was going to do this, she had to think her words carefully before saying anything - she didn't know how Justin would react, though she had an idea of how things would go and it wasn't exactly pretty. She munched slowly on the crisps, subconsciously dragging out the moment she had to reply, and unable to meet Justin's eyes.
"So. Hey, how are you?" Melanie finally said, lamely, after swallowing the crisps. Her throat felt really dry, making her words come out in a sort of squeak. "I haven't seen you in, like, forever! Have you been really busy with homework stuff? You should take a break every once in a while, you know? It's not healthy to always be studying." Melanie paused for a second to regain her breath, her eyes straying towards the door. Was it too late to run away? "Mum's always told me that I should be really focused on school, but that breaks are needed to clear your head, sometimes, so that's why I take walks around the grounds and, yeah, you know. How are you?"
