♥; melanieeee ([info]melanie) wrote in [info]riddikulus,
Melanie had been expecting yelling. A lot of yelling, actually, and maybe even a few curse words thrown in for good measure, but yelling nonetheless. So it was quite a surprise when all she got was a slightly raising of voice. And the disgusted tone, too, of course, which she had also expected, though that still didn't make it any easier for her to bear. Justin was hurt and it was her fault and now she had no idea how to fix it. The look on his face, though, was what almost made her snap and she had to look away and close her eyes tight to keep her emotions in check

"I'm sorry, Justin. I'm so sorry, I--" Melanie began, but stopped mid sentence when she realised she was lying. She was sorry - for springing this whole situation on Justin and ruining his good mood, for one, but not for kissing Charlie. If she were being honest, she would admit she had wanted Charlie to do that for a very long time. Well, not that, but to know that he never really hated her. For the longest time, Melanie had been convinced that the reason her friendship with Charlie had ended was because she had done something wrong. Of course, as time passed, she realised that it hadn't been at all her fault - Charlie was just being a total prat.

And now that prat was trying to redeem himself and Melanie was happy, because she had missed her friend and there was now this added bonus of dating - which was extremely weird and awkward, for her, but so much fun, too. But Justin probably didn't see it that way. Melanie really hoped Justin didn't hate her and that he would just hear her out (even if she had no idea what, exactly, she was supposed to say), because the thought of having to choose between the two of them scared her to no end.

"I-- I don't know what to say. I didn't know it would happen, it-it just did! And then. And then he asked me to the Ball and I said yes," Melanie finished in a rush. Better to come clean about everything while she could. She chanced a glance at Justin's face, her heart dropping as she noticed his expression hadn't really changed much. She refused to drop her gaze, though, but still wouldn't look at him directly, preferring to focus her eyes on his forehead instead. "I'm really, really, really sorry for this. I- I can go, if you want?"
