♥; melanieeee ([info]melanie) wrote in [info]riddikulus,
Perhaps Matthew was right whenever he shook his head and sighed and told Melanie she needed to perk up, because no one could be that oblivious and gullible at 16, but she honestly couldn't understand why Justin was so opposed to her dating Charlie. Charlie was a good person, despite the fact that he was a Slytherin. He was nice, too and very funny in that dorky way of his and cute and very charming, and he had perfect timing, because he always seemed to know when Melanie needed something and he sent her cookies at midnight without knowing she was hungry and there were a whole lot of other things that she couldn't quite remember at the moment, but she'd be sure to write them down whenever she did. And now he had popped out of nowhere and offered to keep her company, just when she needed it the most because her day had been completely horrible. Seeing both Stewart and Garrick hit the ground so awfully had scared her beyond belief and not even winning the match had done a thing to improve her mood, so spending some time with Charlie now seemed like a heaven-sent. The thought that Charlie was a skilled legilimens had fleetingly crossed her mind a many times, because sometimes the coincidences were a bit too creepy, but Melanie would rather believe that Charlie simply knew her very well – and maybe that was being gullible or naive or whatever word her brother was using nowadays, but Melanie wasn't about to question it. She liked Charlie, Charlie liked her back and that was that.

She was getting very impatient now, though, because ten minutes ago, Charlie had said he'd be there in five and if he didn't hurry up, the staircase would start moving again and Melanie would end up travelling all over Hogwarts on those steps. The idea seemed rather fun, even if it wasn't as classy as a magic carpet. She chuckled at the thought, images of herself riding a carpet through the halls of the castle while Peeves tagged along keeping her distracted from her impatience. It was very silly of her, because she had just seen Charlie that morning during the game, so waiting a couple of minutes to see him again shouldn't have been such a big deal. And she shouldn't have been checking that journal so constantly.

Good thing she did, though, otherwise she would've missed Charlie's response. With another chuckle, she scribbled a quick reply and didn't even bother closing the journal as she waited, with eyes fixed on the page, for new words to appear. How was she supposed to believe that trusting Charlie was a bad thing, when he was so nice and she was having such a good time?

Melanie was startled her out of her daze when Charlie sneaked up behind her and her first reaction was to let out a gasp and throw a quick glance over her shoulder, not having expected him to get there so fast.

"You shouldn't sneak up on people," Melanie started, still looking a bit wide-eyed, but smiling at the sight of him. "If I had good reflexes, you could be dead now. Or petrified. Or, y'know, something bad like that."
