Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Who: Neville and Linda
What: Visiting
When: Saturday December 20th
Where: Neville's home
Rating: Uh Rish just in case
Status: Incomplete
Summary: Neville and Linda getting nice and close, and Gran ruins it.

Linda was so excited to go visit Neville, it had been on her mind. She couldn’t stop thinking about him especially considering the conversation they had over journals. They had decided that today would be the first visit, and she was lucky she learnt to apparate. Linda was looking at herself in the mirror fixing her red beater type shirt and pulling on a sweater and zipping it up a little. She looked at her jean skirt it was a tad short for the weather but honestly she wanted to give Neville some ideas. She took a check of her butt in the mirror. “Fabulous,” she said with a smirk and picked up some lip gloss dragging it along her lips.

Running down the stairs she yelled, “Bye mum, bye dad. I will be back later, going to Neville’s.” They told her to behave and that they expected Linda to invite Neville over. She waved good bye and apparated to Neville’s front door. She brushed her curls from her face and knocked on the door. Okay now she was nervous.

Several things seemed to happen at one time, before Neville had even realized things had changed. The first was that he could nearly feel the burning stare of his Gran's gray eyes glancing at him from head to toe. The second was that he realized, almost as soon as the door had opened, that he was clad in very little clothing and that, even though his Gran had raised him from such a young age, he didn't want her to see him nearly starkers. It just didn't work that way. The third thing that seemed to happen at the same time was Linda grabbing for a blanket and Neville struggling to lift his body up and off of her. This did not lead to a perfectly planned fib about just talking on his bed, for he was suddenly tumbling sideways off the mattress and smacking his head into the night table.

"Bloody hell," he swore in a loud whisper, reaching up to rub at the spot on the back of his head that was aching in pain. He hoped that the thing in his boxers that had been entirely too excited before hadn't been too obvious to his Gran as he fell, and he also hoped that she hadn't been standing there long enough to see his rather frisky thrust of the hips. The only thing that greeted his two words was silence for a few long moments, but he could still sense his Gran trying to glance at him on the floor parallel to the door, behind the bed. Why was she still standing there?! Neville prayed the shagging talk wasn't coming.

The air in the room was tense, and for Linda it felt like time had seriously slowed. She had just been caught with Neville on top of her by his grandmother. Did she see him thrust; did she hear the noise that Linda had made? She was horrified, which was why she had made a lot of effort to get the blanket which had resulted in Neville falling off the bed. “I’m sorry,” she squeaked out and leaned across the bed to see that Neville was okay.

Looking back at the door she hoped his grandmother would leave. She wanted to make sure Neville was okay, but if she dropped the blanket she would be showing his grandmother more of herself than needed for a first meeting or ever. She hoped she would leave and not lecture them, how embarrassing would that be.

That spot on the back of Neville's head really was going to drive him mad if it didn't stop aching like that. Oh, how he wished the aching would stop, though not as much as he wished his Gran would leave. He couldn't really see her, but he could sense the she was still there, and he hadn't heard the door close, something that would have signaled that she was gone. He glanced up from the floor as Linda's face hovered over the bed and he offered her a smile, not wanting her to think he was angry.

Slowly, but surely, Neville got up off his back and peered over his bed, letting just the top of his head pop up, almost as though he were some sort of animal stalking its pray and waiting to attack. He stared directly at his Gran and was startled to see that she didn't look angry. On the contrary, she looked rather amused, as though she had just walked in on anyone else doing this. Neville had expected anger, shouting, fights and lies, but instead the older woman actually looked as though she was going to laugh!

"Oh, well, I thought you had a guest over, Neville. It's a pleasure to meet you," Augusta Longbottom spoke, looking at Linda and nodding her head. "I've just taken a pie out if you pair would like a piece. It's warm and fresh," she continued in a tone that was way too casual for the current situation. She turned to leave the room, but before the door could close she slipped her head back in. "Oh, and Neville? I'm glad you've found means of entertainment over the holiday. Spot on, and good luck!" And with that, the door closed.

Pleased to see the smile of Neville she looked up again at his grandmother who was still standing in the doorway, but at least looking amused. Had this been her own mother she would have had a stern talking to and would have been dragged out of the room, as she was, to be given a talking too. The mere thought made her cringe, but she was pleased this was more, well pleasant for lack of a better word.

Neville popped up to look at his Grandmother who was now introducing herself. “Hi,” she said awkwardly as she waved. “I’m Linda.” Well supposed that was obvious. Linda just continued to nod her head to what she was saying, hoping that this would just stop. Pie was nice, but getting dressed and talking about this with Neville was a tad more important.

The last comment said by Augustus made her laugh though, Linda found it highly amusing. She flopped back on Neville’s bed laughing a loudly before sitting back up and kissing Neville. “I’m sorry hun, but that was funny, horrifyingly awkward but funny.” She placed her hand on his head and kissed his forehead. “Is your head okay? I’m sorry.” She knew that her kiss had not landed near the wound but hoped it would help.

Neville was pleased that his Gran had been nice to Linda, and that Linda had been able to say something to the older woman, for he couldn't get a single word out the entire time she was in there. How was he supposed to remember how to speak when his Gran had just interrupted something so private and personal? He could only imagine walking in on her doing something similar, though he didn't really want to think about that, just in case it fried his brain forever and gave him nightmares that would never go away. That was just frightening, and Neville visibly made a face.

Once he heard the door close, after that last comment which had made his face turn a dangerous red colour, he slowly started to crawl back onto the bed and accepted Linda's kiss. For a moment he couldn't even speak, he was so mortified. Why would it have been Ginny? Harry? Ron? Anyone else, really! He was almost afraid to get too close to Linda out of fear that Gran would come bounding back in. "Wow," he mumured, reaching back and scratching his head. "I reckon I should have done some sort of locking charm."

Linda could understand why Neville was so quiet, had it been her mother she would have been completely mortified. She couldn’t help it but laugh at the moment perhaps because she felt awkward or something. Linda was horrified inside, but yet she was trying to remain calm about it. She figured she had just made the worst impression on his grandmother ever, and there was nothing she could do to get a good image back. She was caught in the act of potentially deflowering her grandson. Linda did not want to think about it.

Wow pulled her from her thoughts and she smiled at him. “Yeah I suppose we should have, but no matter.” She said sitting there with the blanket still around her. “But it is okay, no harm right well aside for your head.”

Neville didn't know if he should feel angry with his Gran or not, but that almost seemed unfair. She could have been mean to him and demanded that Linda leave right away and that he was never to see her again, or she could have prolonged his agony and actually wandered into his room and struck up conversation with the scantily clad pair. Even if Neville was annoyed that whatever was going to happened had been interrupted, he couldn't be angry at his Gran for it. Maybe it was just some sort of sign that right now wasn't the perfect time. Of course he thought anytime could have been the perfect time, but that was just how he worked it out in his head.

Despite the fact that he was blushing, he was still smiling slightly at Linda, now able to make a face that didn't include wincing or frowning. "That could have gone a lot worse, yeah," he agreed, moving his hand up to itch at the spot he had bumped. "I reckon it will be fine in a few moments." The last word was interrupted by a chuckle that slipped out, and for some reason Neville suddenly found the entire thing funny.

“Yeah it could have gone a lot worse,” she nodded her head as she shifted closer to Neville. She was glad he was finding amusement in the situation as it was the best way of looking and coping with the situation. Linda ran her fingers through her mope of curly hair as she looked at him, causing the blanket to drop just to her waist. “So, should we go down for the pie? Or did you want to just lay here with me. I am happy with snuggling, considering the moment is sort of gone with the other alternative.”

Linda looked up at him and leaned forward to him to give him a soft kiss. “You are sweet you know that,” she said this and almost went on to say she loved him but she held it back. Neville meant so much to her, but she didn’t want to make the situation anymore awkward than it was.
