"When did we get so old?" Victoire leaned back against Scorpius's bed and looked back at him. "I mean... it's your fifteenth birthday today. Mine is next month. I don't even understand how we aged so fast. I feel like we should still be in diapers." She sighed dramatically and then leaned against Scorpius. "Am I getting wrinkles yet?"

Cepheus was bored. Scorpius was spending all his time with Victoire and he was left to his own devices. He ran a hand through his curly hair, glancing between Teddy and Xavier. "M'bored." He informed them both, then flopped back against the floor beneath him. "For fuck sake. We need to find something to do. What do you think, Teds?"

Albus glanced at Marigold, who was braiding Charlotte's hair. He didn't even know why he was over. Probably because Marigold and Charlotte had both invited him over. "You should put flowers in her hair." Albus suggested, looking Charlotte over. "You have really pretty skin. I wish mine was that smooth."

"Scorpius would never date a Hufflepuff." Victoire felt insulted by the mere thought of it. She shook her head and looked over Teddy. "Why are you so obsessed with me?"

"I have a couple of friends, but I doubt they'll show up tonight." Caspar replied and looked up at Xavier. "I don't have to talk to you if you're going to be a dick to me."

Albus looked at Scorpius for a moment. He wasn't sure if he was shocked or appalled by the question. "I was... you know. Teddy told me you were."

"I'm not..." Well... he was. Lying probably wasn't a great way to start their relationship, when Teddy thought about it. He shrugged and smiled at her. "You're beautiful. I love spending time with you. Why wouldn't I be obsessed with you?"

"You're the one who started it," Xavier told him. "You said I looked grumpy and like I was going to punch you. Just because I'm a Macnair doesn't mean I'm violent, you know. That's just the stereotype for my family. I try and subvert it."

"Oh," Scorpius said. Why was Teddy talking about his sexuality? "Weird. Well, I'm bisexual. Just so you know. Teddy was probably trying to provoke you into asking me weird questions."

"I'm your cousin. Your first cousin. Not a third cousin." Victoire pointed out and shook her head. "And your father is my father's brother. It's weird."

"I didn't mean that you were violent. You just looked like you hated me." Caspar pointed out and looked back at Xavier. "I didn't say you were going to punch me. Just that it looked like you wanted to."

Albus looked back at Scorpius for a moment. Bisexual. He probably had a preference for women. "Okay." He told him and then shrugged. "I'm gay. I just.. didn't think it was a big deal. We've been friends for a long time and you never told me."

"It's not that weird. First cousins are allowed to be married," Teddy pointed out. "Royals do it all the time. And your mum's bloodline is completely different and my mother is half-muggle so her blood is completely different too. It would even out in our kids."

"I didn't want to. Now I'm not so sure,"Xavier told Caspar, shaking his head. "I feel like you think I'm some mindless, violent thug or something. Maybe I should try to live up to the image. I didn't even know you then. How would I know I didn't like you?"

Albus was gay. Scorpius was oddly... He liked that thought. He smiled at his friend. "I guess I just assumed you knew. I mean, with the way I talk about Bowie and everything. Thank you. For telling me."

Victoire looked back at Teddy and frowned. "Teddy. We're related and I'm not into that." She promised him and then swore under her breath. "Maybe I should leave."

Caspar stared at Xavier and then gave him a sad look. He schooled his expression into a frown. "I should leave. Scorpius can just have the gift I bought him." He walked off from Xavier.

"No. I didn't know." Albus looked Scorpius over and then shoved his hands in his pockets nervously. "I don't like assuming things either."

"No," Teddy said quickly, putting a hand on Victoire's leg. "I don't want you to go, Tor. I'm not going to... I mean, I can cool it a bit if that's what you want. I just like showing you how much I like you. You know?"

"You're probably smarter than me," Scorpius told Albus, nodding in agreement. "Not assuming anything. "Do you --" He was cut off by Xavier coming over and grabbing his shoulder. "What?"

"I might have chased the Hufflepuff off," Xavier said, frowning to himself. "It was an accident. He was annoying. Be like grandma and deal with it."

Scorpius rolled his eyes, then gave Albus an apologetic look. "I'll be right back," he said, and went after Caspar. "Don't go," he said. "Xavier told me he was a jerk to you. I'm sorry about him."

"Well. You can't like me." Victoire informed him with a deep frown. "Because we're related. I'm not going to let you like me. Okay?"

Albus frowned at Xavier. "What'd you do that for?" He asked and shook his head. "Now Scorpius is going to run off and be with him."

Caspar was half-crying by the time that Scorpius caught up with him. He turned his head. "Don't worry about it. I shouldn't be here anyway. I don't belong."

Teddy snorted. "It's not really up to you," he pointed out. "My feelings are my feeling. I definitely get to be in control of them. Listen, it's not like it's a big deal."

"Be with him?" Xavier repeated, blinking at Albus. "That... I don't think so, Al." He looked in the direction Caspar and Scorpius had gone off in. "Scorpius has a thing for David Bowie. I'm pretty sure that doesn't lead naturally into floppy-haired Hufflepuffs who don't have any friends."

Scorpius felt guilty now, even if Caspar crying wasn't his fault. "No, don't go," he said. "You'll miss the party and it's going to be fun. Xavier's just a bit... gruff sometimes. You should see his dad."

"Good. Because it's not a big deal." Victoire frowned at Teddy and shook her head. "One day, I'm going to be married to Scorpius. Just like his mother is married to Draco. And we're going to be happy together."

What Xavier had said really hurt Albus. He was floppy haired. And he certainly wasn't David Bowie. He gave Xavier a sad look and then turned around, walking back into the room where everyone was.

"I didn't even do anything to him. I just told him he looked grumpy and like he wanted me to leave. Or punch me in the face." Caspar reached up and wiped at his eyes. "I'm really bad at making friends."

Teddy frowned back at Victoire. "You want to be in a fake relationship with Scorpius?" he asked. "Where you're best friends and married but you're not in love? Does Scorpius know that's your plan? Because Draco tells him and Cepheus not to worry about that stuff all the time."

Xavier did not understand people. He sighed and followed Albus back into Scorpius's bedroom, sitting beside Cepheus. "People are confusing."

"That's just Xavier," Scorpius said. He felt awkward about Caspar crying and about being the sensitive one, suddenly. Teddy and Cepheus were the ones everyone liked. "Let's go to the kitchen and get something to eat. Then we can go back and hang out with everyone."
