"Are you going to tell me all about your stay in France before we get to school, or are you going to make me wait?" Victoire asked her sister with a smile, stretching her leg across the compartment of the train and poking her sister with her toe. "I want to know-" She paused when she saw Teddy in the window, waving madly at her. "Merde."

Louis glanced at the door for a moment, then snorted. "Perhaps you'd like to tell us what you've been doing." He told her, then unlatched the door. "Teddy. What do you want? We're having girl talk about our periods. Go away."

Victoire looked back at Teddy for a moment, then sighed softly. "Our parents aren't going to like it if we are together either. Why do you think we've been hiding it?" She asked, looking up at him. "We're not even legally allowed to be together."

Louis shrugged and blew smoke from his fag towards the ceiling. "I'm just letting you know that it won't be anything special. I don't want you to be disappointed when it happens."

"We are," Teddy said, shaking his head. "It's not like we're brother and sister, Victoire. It's not that bad. Cousins do things together all the time and I don't really care what our parents think. You think grandmum likes my dad being with Draco?"

Charlotte rolled her eyes at Louis. "Maybe it's not special to you, but it will be to me. To me and to Evan." She opened one of the train windows so his smoke could escape. "Sometimes you are far too French."

Victoire stared at Teddy. "Why me?" It was an honest question. Teddy had been after her for as long as she could remember and she never knew why. "I'm not even that desirable. Maybe it's just my little bit of Veela blood that has you in a trance."

"What is that supposed to mean?" Louis asked, frowning deeply at his sister. "Because I like to smoke and lay around naked? There's nothing wrong with that."

"What?" Teddy blinked at Victoire for a moment, then laughed. "No, don't be silly. You're an eighth Vella. It makes you blond and gorgeous, sure, but it doesn't cloud up my mind like your mum's influence does with people. Nobody follows Charlotte or Louis around like a puppy and they've got the same amount of it as you have. It's just you, Tor. When we were little you were... wicked. I loved spending time with you. And it just developed, so now I'm in love with you." He shrugged. "I don't know why you think it's weird. It seems like the most obvious, natural thing in the world to me."

"Yes, exactly. You're so French. Maybe you should have gone to Beauxbatons," Charlotte said, laughing at Louis's frown. "You would have been very popular there, I bet. Not that you're unpopular at school."

"It's just.." Victoire wasn't sure how to fight back with that. She didn't love Teddy like he loved her. She loved him as a person, but she wasn't in love with him. "I'm not in love with you like you're in love with me." She told him quietly.

"I'm not unpopular at school. I'm quite popular." Louis didn't understand why Charlotte was always putting him down. "Maybe I should leave you in the compartment by yourself if you're going to be rude."

"I know," Teddy said. He wasn't stupid and he'd been chasing her forever. Teddy looked at Victoire and shrugged. "I didn't think you were. I'm the one who's been chasing you, remember? But we haven't even been on a date. We've just had sex. You haven't had time to fall in love with me yet."

"I said you weren't unpopular," Charlotte said, rolling her eyes at Louis. "You can leave if you want to. I'll just go find my boyfriend. Maybe sit in a carriage that isn't full of cigarette smoke."

Victoire looked back at Teddy. "We've had the same amount of time to fall in love. You fell in love with me. Why didn't I fall in love with you?" She shook her head and sighed. "I slept with someone else. You don't want me."

"You're such a bitch, Charlotte. And all I try to do is be nice to you." Louis pushed himself up from the seat and left the compartment. He moved down the train until he found a fairly empty compartment. Only one older gentleman was in there. He sat down and flipped open the magazine he'd brought along, looking over the models inside.

"Maybe you weren't open to it before, but now you... Wait, what?" Teddy frowned a little when Victoire said she'd slept with someone else. That... hurt. "Who?" he asked, changing back into himself. "Why?"

Kiernan Viiperi had been trying to keep his nerves under control on the way to Hogwarts. When he had the compartment to himself, that was easy, but then a boy walked in and started reading a magazine. He would have liked to ignore him, but he was supposed to be a professor now and the kid was smoking. He cleared his throat and glanced at the fag in the boy's hand. "I'm fairly certain you're too young for that."

Teddy chewed on his bottom lip for a moment. Victoire having sex with Brutus hurt his feelings, but it didn't make him not want her. He shook his head. "I still want you. I'm not sure there's a way to make me not want you, honestly."

Kiernan raised an eyebrow at the kid, smiling a little at his attitude. "Just because you're French doesn't mean you can smoke on a train. Which is illegal, actually. Especially when you're, what, fourteen? Maybe fifteen?"

Victoire shifted awkwardly in front of him for a moment, then leaned in and kissed him softly. "Change back to yourself." She told him, then took his hand into her own. "Let's find somewhere to sit."

"Doesn't matter how old I am. What are you going to do?" Louis arched a brow and looked the other man over. "I suppose you're some sort of new teacher this year, right?"

Teddy did as he was told, squeezing Victoire's hand lightly. "Do you like me better as myself?" he asked her. "I'm kind of freckley this way. Which makes sense. My dad's all scar and freckle."

"That's exactly what I am," Kiernan said, snapping his fingers and summoning the cigarette across the carriage. He took a drag from it and then offered it back to the boy. "It's good to see you show some intellectual promise despite smoking at the young age of twelve."

"I don't like you anyway." Victoire grinned at Teddy to let him know she was joking. She pressed their lips together gently. "I don't even know what I'm doing."

"I'm not a kid." Louis informed the other man, frowning deeply at him. He looked him over, taking in his appearance, which was actually not half bad. He took the fag back. "Fuck. I hope you're not my professor. What are you teaching?"

"You could agree to be my girlfriend," Teddy suggested, kissing her back and pulling her into a compartment, away from prying eyes. "My secret girlfriend. Then nobody would have to know and you wouldn't be embarrassed by me all the time."

"History," Kiernan said, looking Louis over. He was betting Slytherin. He had that sort of attitude about him. "Binns is finally trying retirement. I'm Professor Viiperi. Unless you're older than you look I assume you haven't taken your OWLs yet, which means I'll be your professor for at leat the rest of the year."
