It took a while, especially since my contact with most people aside from caretakers and my family was minimal for quite a while. I was homeschooled, but they covered that fairly early, when they thought I could handle it. At the time they didn't know if I'd develop powers, but were teaching me to be a badass normal if I didn't... so it was kind of weird regardless.
