| 11:19 pm - Underway A voice comes from over the ship's coms.
"All crewmen, we have an hour before leaving drydock. All senior officers report to the observation room." There's a pause. "That does include Engineering."

Comments:
The bridge door opens, and Commander Kor steps in.
"Commander Iyran Kor, reporting for duty," he states.

He knows enough to know the striking red hair on the Captain, neatly fastened in a French twist, is uncommon among humans. The other trait that's unusual is her ears. They are not as tapered or pronounced as a Vulcan's, but it is clear the captain is not entirely human. He still cannot see her face, however, since she is still looking out the windows as he enters.
"I beg patience with you, Commander. I generally do something... unorthodox...when I first inspect a command. I'm waiting for others to arrive before I turn to face them collectively. Their reactions should let me know much about them before we are tested."
"As you wish, Captain." He frowns, though... reactions to what? Is her face horribly scarred? Is she wearing a mask?

"You're more then welcome to come over here and take in the stars before we see the rest of the crew." There's a roll of her shoulders. "I think after awhile we will tend to forget they are miracles."
He approaches and looks out the window. "Art can be found in unusual places, Captain," he states simply.
"Lieutenant Severin S'Bella, reporting," the Caitan security chief said, as she entered the observation room.
Effie was pretty sure she'd found the observation room...and it appeared to be! Great!
"Lieutenant Euphemia Barclay reporting." She remembered to say it out loud and everything. The day was going well.
It wasn't a surprise that Min arrived after the others. She had been doing some actual work and was interrupted by the summons. Which of course automatically put her in a worse mood. First ensigns not having a clue and then a Tellarite being full of himself and questioning her work and now this. There were days where it wasn't worth crawling out of a Jefferies tube. She didn't announce herself when she walked into the room. She didn't feel the need to announce her presence. Hell, she barely remembered to grab her top and pull it on over her tank top. Her outfit was totally not a regulation uniform. She had ditched that not long after arriving on board. She looked around the room. If there was any shock at seeing the redhead ensign standing near the window and wearing the rank of captain, her face didn't show it. She grabbed the nearest empty chair and practically fell into it.
The doctor steps into the room, looking around at the others.
"Hello," she greets as she steps in. "Doctor Seraxx reporting in. It's a pleasure to meet all of you! I look forward to serving with you!"
Honestly, she didn't think of herself as "senior staff," being a newly-minted Ensign and all. It took one of the others to remind her that she indeed WAS included.
Time to offer up my back for the rod, she thinks.
Then again, she heard the captain was human, and humans didn't have as much of an attitude as Vulcans or Joined.
She takes a seat as far away from the Captain as possible. Time to see what she was in for.

She turns to look at the staff. Some of them might recall the ensign moving about the ship. Now she wears 4 pips on her collar and her hair is up now, revealing slight signs of Vulcan heritage.
"I believe our helmsman and first officer are away on special assignment. I am Capitan Juliet Ray and on your datapads is the mission we are to undertake. Risky, dangerous, confidential, and long, but with a potentially amazing results."
Effie gets an expression of 'Oh, it's you! Hi!' before blinking slightly and then trying to focus on the matter at hand.
Apparently Min had been pulled away from doing work for a meet and greet. Fun. Really. She just wanted to stay here all day.
She grabbed the datapad and looked at the mission details.
Kor looks at the mission details.
"We're going under Romulan space?"
Severin looked over the mission details, a very mischievous and cat-like look darting over her feline features.
"Risky... but potentially quite rewarding," she said.
Effie looks just a little scared as she reads. She'd look a lot more scared if visions of stellar phenomena and soil samples weren't dancing in her head.
"Fascinating," Kor mutters quietly.
Min didn't say anything but she considered the idea. It would be interesting and a nightmare at the same time. Where the hell was she going to get parts when things broke? Or goodness forbid the ship get damaged in battle.

"As you can see silent running will be critical for much of our mission. We will have limited contact with Starbase Rhiannon. Mostly we are here for exploration and stellar cartography -" She smirks like a sphinx. "Mostly."
"As you know, the last Federation contact with the Romulans was at Narenda III nearly 19 years ago. The Enterprise-C offered aid to a ill-defended Klingon colony and while the battle went to the Romulans, we owe much of our current peace to that event. Still, no official contact has been heard from the Romulan Empire for approximately 60 years. If this wasn't enough, this area is believed to be a kind of no-man's land where refugees from the Romulans and Klingons, not to mention the Federation, are shielded by all three's unwillingness up to this point to explore the terrain."
"Undoubtedly, there will be native people, though," Dr. Seraxx says. "So it's not really a true 'no-man's land.' We could make some positive contact for the Federation while we're out here!"
Teera is not saying anything.
Rule number one: Know when to keep your mouth shut. Rule number two: Keep it shut until given reason otherwise.
The assignment was probably dangerous. Then again, so was half the missions she ran for the League. Major difference was this was "official" and not a "terrorist action."
She can't help a smile, though. Looks like she got her wish and then some.
"Either way, there's a lot of blank space to fill in." Effie says, focusing on the Fun Part. "Good thing we have a lot of people for it." Provided the others who'd be working on such things didn't make any mistakes to disrupt her beautiful, beautiful charts. Or break something. Please, please, don't let the slightly-exuberant Trill break those poor sensor arrays; Effie had not liked the way she was talking. ...Oh, there were other parts of the crew that mattered, weren't there?
"Will the first officer be here soon, ma'am?" She asked.

"The first officer is an interesting situation, but at the moment I am unsure if we will have a Federation officer, or a Klingon one. Negotiations are happening at the Starbase as we speak."
"You okay, Barclay? You seem a bit distracted."
Maybe Min was a little more pessimistic than the others, but she didn't see this as something that would be fun. Her mind was already going through possible scenarios and how she was going to keep the ship running. It would be hard to find parts and make repairs in the middle of nowhere.

She looks to the engineer and the doctor. "This is of critical importance to all departments, but to Medical and Engineering this is critical." She turns to Min. "According to preliminary reports by Starfleet Intelligence, the area has, potentially, enough enclaves and raw materials to find and make what we need, but we will need someone to find those things." She looks to the second officer. "Ship-board operations will have a role not seen since the days of James Kirk, - supplies."
Severin nodded at the various explanations going on, not taking notice of the distress of the one.
"We might face stiff competition for some of those resources," she said. "Depending on what some of the other inhabitants want it for."

"That's why I'm here," she admits. "My career up to this point has been one specializing in aggressive negotiations."
"Well enough, thank you," she mutters to Ensign Dok and continues listening and processing. A Klingon? And a supplies job? My.
Kor nods at the role. "I can certainly handle supplies and material."
"I'll put together a list of things to watch out for for engineering," Min said. See? She could be nice. Of course it could have something to do with the fact that he was going to be of use to her.

"Good. Anything else before we go to our stations?"
Kor shakes his head. "None from me for the moment, Captain." |
