[Berk.]
Marnie didn't spend all of her time being a self-absorbed ballerina despite popular opinion. She'd heard that Amelia was in the hospital, and while she was fairly certain that the woman didn't like her much, she was still a bit unsure about Berk. Which meant, of course, that bringing him cookies would be the perfect opportunity to sway him over to the 'support Rosemarne' side of things and convince his wife of the same.

Thus it was that she wandered into the Ministry, a round Halloween-themed cookie tin clutched firmly in her hands. She peered around the unit she imagined Berk was working in (since it was where Mycroft worked, too), hoping to spot him.

Harder than it looked, apparently! She huffed, steeling her determination to find Berk and deliver his cookies.

Damnit.

Out of all the random women that could have flung themselves at Mycroft's ridiculous offer, Berkeley was beginning to believe that he was damn lucky that Marnie was the one who accepted. There was no reason for her to care about Mycroft's family, there was no reason to even care about Mycroft, but she did, and she was going out of her way to make an effort and--it was nice. There wasn't much nice in the world, these days.

Berk gave a real smile, something that had been a bit rare these past few weeks, and he nodded, looking down at the tin of cookies.

"No, no--it shouldn't be weird. I mean--you're my sister-in-law." Berk's head bobbed back and forth for a moment as he realized how odd it was to say that, and not mean one of Amelia's siblings. A silly grin was on his face, because while the Ministry had been fooled by Mycroft and Marnie's stories, of course the two sitting together right now knew otherwise. "We're family, now. So."

"Yeah, well..." she waved a hand in front of her emphatically, "I know that it wasn't the most ideal circumstance in which to gain a sibling, you know? I fully plan to make up for it in copious amounts of baking." Which she doubted Berk was going to have a problem with, in all honesty.

Marnie flashed him a half-grin at the smile -- aha, at least something good had come from her visit. She smoothed her hand through her hair, biting on her lip. "I mean, I'd tell you to relax...but I relax by dancing and I assume it's not so easy for other people."
