FRANK? >>
You weren't supposed to stab cake batter.

Frank was being so stupid and dumb and ridiculous and! And embarrassing her in public like that! He was not her father! No! No he was not! He was not her father, and therefore should not be bossing her around as if he was because that was rude and not husbandly.

Alice's eyes kept flipping over to her journal, which was open up to the entry with James. It seemed like the two had stopped talking, but that just meant they were under wards. Talking about her. In private. She could not believe how angry this was making her, but it was, and boy she felt like slipping something into this cake batter.

She spotted Frank's reflection in the window of the kitchen before she heard him; he was getting really good at this stealth stuff. Alice turned quickly, her mixing spoon up in the air and dripping cake batter to the floor.

"This cake isn't for you."

The possibility that Alice was pregnant was--- okay, wouldn't something like that be--- how would it be possible that he, Frank, and James-- James!--- had been able to figure out that there might be the slightest possibility that Alice--- and Lily--- who wasn't suppose to be able to get pregnant in the first place--- might be pregnant before they even knew about it? Really, the odds just seemed too impossible here. Because weren't women suppose to--- know those things? Regardless of whether or not they could tell a little human was growing inside them, but--

He needed to relax. Frank ran a hand through his hair, and took a deep breath as he rush-walked down toward the kitchen. It was entirely possible that Alice wasn't pregnant, so getting himself into this--- frenzy would just be stupid and pointless. They didn't know for sure, because-- alright what did James know? He wasn't even a real Healer. He hadn't even--- Frank did not like what this was doing to his head. More oxygen was necessary, that he was definitely sure of.

Talk to Alice, he obviously had to talk to Alice. One--- step at a time. Calmly, under control. There was no reason to--- he was an Auror for fuck's sake! If he couldn't handle something like this then--- there was something wrong with him.

Alright. There she was. Frank stood there for a moment, trying to put all of his thoughts together to form something that could be understood. But, it was somewhat hard to focus then.

Cake? What! No, this wasn't time for cake it was--- "I don't want it," he waved Alice off, shaking his head quickly. There! Now she could see the seriousness he was--- in.

Her hand and the spoon dropped to her side, and Alice felt this overwhelming need to turn the bowl of batter over onto Frank's head and storm out of the room. She could do it, too, just one quick swish and splat. How could he not want the cake! He was supposed to want the cake. Alice felt her face heat up almost violently, and she turned back to the bowl and jammed the spoon rather hard, making it rattle against the counter.

Oh, oh. Now he really wasn't going to get any cake. Or sex. Franklin Tybalt Longbottom was not going to get cake or sex on his twentieth birthday and that was that.

"So what did you and James talk about?" she said, attempting to sound uncaring, but the sharpness of her tone was clearly evident, and frankly (FRANKLY!) she did not care.

Frank did not have the ability to stop himself now; his eyes went wide and his jaw dropped slightly at Alice's reaction. Granted, the two of them did have their moments but, his wife's anger was verging back to the kind he hadn't experienced since sixth year. When Regulus Black, and Alan Jugson and-- it looked like she wanted to just murder him, or simply--- It wasn't that bad, all he had done was try and get James to see if she was alright, but now she was acting like he had---

Was--- this--- she--- hormonal? Frank felt his heart burst into a new speed he was unaware it could achieve.

Okay. Okay, just because she was annoyed with him right now did not mean that she was pregnant. There could be a lot of reasons why she was being so short with him. Maybe what was making her sick was making her less... patient. Or maybe it had just been a very long day, and Alice was stressed out about--- something. Like... how fucking pregnant she was! Oh, this was unbelievable of course she was, because last time it was just a false alarm, so that meant now had to be real because you didn't just not be almost pregnant twice!

His chest hurt. Well, if this didn't kill, then at this point Frank was fairly certain Alice would in the next few minutes. Better to just say it now.

"Are you pregnant?" Frank blurted out suddenly, unable to control himself anymore.

She pushed the spoon so hard into the bottom of the bowl that it tilted, slipped, and spilled across the counter. Did he just say that--did he really just ask her if she was--that they were--

Alice turned to Frank, eyes wide with confusion and shock. Just because she was in a bad mood, he just assumed it was hormones? She got hormonal once a month, thankyouverymuch, he should not be so rude about it, and just let her be and---

...could she be pregnant?

Ohmygosh.

Alice dropped the spoon to the table and bounced up on her tiptoes, clasping her hands at her chest before she rushed forward to Frank. "Do you think!"

Oh, oh, oh! That would be so much better than being ill with a deadly virus! Alice bit her lip in excitement and quickly patted Frank's shoulders. She could be pregnant! She could be PREGNANT!

"I think I have a spare test!" she squeaked, eyes lighting up. They could be having a baby!

If she wasn't pregnant, then they would have a much bigger problem because his wife was acting absolutely crazy. Whether or not that was a good thing... Frank couldn't even wrap his mind around that right now. One--- step at a time.

For a few moments there, it did look like she was about to attack him. So once Alice rushed forward, Frank couldn't help but visibly brace himself. But she was--- happy. Happier. A meek smile formed on his face, as he looked at her. There was--- okay, he was fine. And yes, he did think. Or at least... it made sense. Right!

He was making absolutely no sense, not even in his own head. So, Frank took a deep breath and simply nodded, letting Alice take his reaction as she wanted to. "Doesn't hurt to see?" he stated in a strange way, but still smiling.

This was fine, he could handle this. They could handle this, because-- oh fuck, what if she wasn't? Frank couldn't even begin to imagine the massacre that would come about if he was wrong. Or they were wrong. No no, that couldn't happen. So Alice... needed to be pregnant.

Yes. That was his logic.

The squeal Alice elicited could make dogs deaf. She grabbed Frank's wrist and tugged him out of the kitchen toward the spare bathroom where she had once locked herself in, thinking she was pregnant. Before! Before she had thought she was pregnant, but was really dying of a fatal disease. Now, she thought she had the flu (which could prove fatal), and maybe she was pregnant!

Didn't life work in such silly ways?

She slammed the bathroom door shut in Frank's face before he could try to enter (your husband was just not necessary for some things), and after everything was mixed and done, she flung the door open and held the vial in her hands so Frank could see. Nothing was happening yet, they had about a minute or so, and Alice took her eyes off of it for a moment so she could look up at Frank.

"I want a boy," she whispered. Because she wanted a little Frank running around, and she wanted him to know that. Alice grinned and looked down once more; yes, there was no doubt she was pregnant in her mind. And if she wasn't? Well. Well she'd be fine. But she definitely was. She had been silently wishing for a baby for so long, that it had to come true.

Right? Right.

She had been thinking about this for a while, Frank noticed that now. So... how could he not have spotted that minor detail before? It was possible that he didn't exactly want to notice, or have the time to, because things had been keeping them busy and distracted, to say the least, lately. Frank placed his hand over his face for a few seconds as Alice slammed the door shut, simply breathing. At least his heart had seemed to slow down to a normal adrenaline rushed tempo.

Alice wanted a baby. So if she wanted a baby, then he should want one too. Frank let that thought sit in his head for a moment to mull it over. Yes, he was actually okay with thinking that. And agreeing with it. And vocalizing it. He was... alright with the possibility of being a father.

Whoa. He did not remember growing up in the last five minutes.

"A boy would be nice," he spoke softly, nodding his head as he looked at the vial in her hands. This was--- absolutely insane. Not because-- not because they weren't ready (alright, no one could ever be ready), or the time wasn't right (he had already faced the fact that the world was going to be screwed up for a while), but because Frank had never thought of himself as being in that place. In that place where... you were actually an adult. Taking care of someone else that you had created. It was--- insanity.

A boy would be nice. Frank said that. Frank said that! Her husband thought that a boy would be nice, and he wasn't running away screaming about having to go to work and thinking that he was never going to return. He was here! Frank was here, watching the vial along with her, waiting for the results.

Alice wasn't sure why she'd pictured her husband acting so violently. Maybe the fact that he said no to a cat a few weeks ago tipped her off, but she did figure that a cat was simply not the same thing as a baby. A baby was something you decided to make and grow and raise together, something that you wished to pass on your traditions with and help become a better person than you were.

See, cats just ripped up your furniture when they were mad at you.

Though, a baby could probably do the same, but that really wasn't all that was on its mind.

Oy, these tangents were getting ridiculous, when was this potion going to go off---

She nearly dropped it when the vial started sparking blue. Alice stared down at the small bottle of glass in her hands, waiting for her brain to put together what its reactions meant. The sparking meant---yes. Yes, she was pregnant. And the blue---a boy, it was a boy, she was pregnant with a boy. Alice looked up at Frank, eyes wide and mouth pressed shut as her heart attempted to thud right out of her chest. Her mind, in all of the insanity she had just been going through, was completely dark and blank except for the sparks of blue.

"Frank."

Holy shit, the thing had turned blue. Blue as in-- alright, he had believed that Alice-- they--- were pregnant, but it was a completely different thing when you were absolutely sure like right now and seeing it there in her hands. Blue as in boy meaning that he was going to have a son! They were going to have a son. A baby. He couldn't think but he could think, because he could understand what this meant.

Frank stared at the small vial intensely, letting the rest of its whole meaning sink in. This was--- this was--- he didn't know what to say, because there were a million things racing through his head all at once. Everything that came to mind seemed cliche, but obviously appropriate, because what else could you say? Besides, he didn't care. But choosing one thought-- no, that was impossible. He was going to have to uncontrol himself again.

"A baby!" he finally gasped, pushing himself from off the wall. "Alice---" Alright, now he wanted to scream on top of his lungs and let everyone know they're good news. Good news because he had been--- overreacting before. Having a baby isn't horrible, not at all. Especially if it got Alice to be this happy; she deserved to be happy. Frank reached for her hands, holding onto them tightly.

In the midst of trying to regain some sort of thought process, Alice had carefully put the vial down on a nearby table and was currently gripping Frank's hands tightly.

There was a baby inside of her! He probably (he!) looked like a little dot, but! But! She'd helped make him! Frank too! Frank had been vital, in fact. Realizing the momentous occasion they were in, Alice let out a rather high-pitched shriek of laughter and excitement, feet bouncing back and forth in a ridiculously exuberant dance and she flung her arms around her husband's neck.

"FRAANK!" she let out loudly, knocking him back into the wall. Oh, oh! She loved this man so much, she loved him and loved him and would marry him again and again and have all of his babies and more babies and she would so never whine to him about a stupid cat again!
