St. Mungo's Invasion --- everyone!
Rabastan was in a bad fucking mood.

He'd been in a bad mood for about a week, probably a bit before then because he'd somehow been dragged into decorating the entire bloody manor with his mother. She'd guilted him, to be honest, crying about how she didn't have grandchildren and he snapped that he'd help her put the bloody garland up if she would stop her ridiculous attempts at getting him to procreate.

St. Mungo's was ridiculously obnoxious with its brightly lit corridors and bustling employees. How could anyone possibly be jolly all the fucking time? Rabastan supposed it let him slip in and out of the crowds a bit easier, but still. When you were trying to create a bloody scene to save a man's life (not something he found himself thinking--ever), it became irritating, quickly.

He turned a corner and pulled out his wand, extracting the spell from the walls of the hospital that kept it lit so brightly. Rabastan grinned as the light flashed and turned into darkness, his wand spinning once in his hands.

Well, then.

To any DEs prowling about empty halls/rooms on the 2nd floor

There were perks to working in general proximity of your boyfriend. Major perks. Lunch time perks. Break perks. Lots, and lots of perks. Except those perks were nonexistent when you and said Healer boyfriend worked in different departments, rarely ever saw each other, etc. etc.

It was a pain in the arse, to be quite frank. But they had made plans to take their break at the exact same time today (and they differentiated between "PM" and "AM" this time), and meet in one of the few empty rooms on Rachel's floor. And for once in about a month, she and Healer Smethwyck had managed to coordinate things very well.

"People are bloody fools around the holidays," Rachel commented, straightening her bow. "Did you see that one man who came in looking like a Christmas wreath? There were leaves sprouting from his skin; it was positively the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen in my life. Honestly, who knew the Yuletide spirit was accompanied by such--"

Something felt odd. Noises? Was she--no, not noises. Maybe noises.... Something felt weird.

"Did you hear that?"

It was a great regret that Rachel wasn't his assistant anymore, but he was happy to see her enroll in the nursing intern program. However, it did make coordinating their schedules together a bit tricky, but with a bit of work and string-pulling, they managed to make it happen. For example, Smeth had early rounds tomorrow and was supposed to end early today, but he convinced his father that he would cover for his shift and that Perry could go home early. Perry had happily agreed.

After a rousing half an hour of recreational fun, they both emerged from the empty room. Healer Smethwyck straightened out the cuffs of his Healer robes and finished buttoning his trousers. He placed an arm around Rachel's shoulders and squeezed. "Or that girl with the candy box crammed into her head? And her boyfriend that was spouting eggno..."

"Wait, what did I hear?" He glanced down at Rachel then froze when a masked... man - Smeth was convinced it was a man by the broad shoulder and hulking height - crossed their path. Swiftly, Healer Smethwyck drew his wand.

At that moment, all the lights in the hall ceased to be on, inciting cries of shock and alarm from the rooms around him. He reached for Rachel's hand, instinctively backing them away towards the nearest exit.
