ST. MUNGO'S, EARTHQUAKE
He'd had a strange feeling when he'd woken up this morning. Mark's coffee had tasted funny, not for anything Hannah had done to it, it was the same recipe as always, it was just something in his mind that was telling him things were not right. He liked to think that his instinct was what made him a good healer and a proficient healer-in-chief, but today he was just stuck wondering why everything felt so off.

Musing at the nurses' station, Mark leaned into the counter with the tip of his quill poking a blot of ink into his cheek. He was often found here, deep in thought, and it usually took Nurse Tonks saying something ridiculously inappropriate to snap him out of his thoughts.

Today, though, it was the entire nurses station shifting from underneath him and sliding a meter or two away. Mark stumbled, landing on his knees rather hard, and looked up in horror at the sight of the hospital's corridors swaying and shaking. Paintings fell, vials rolled and burst on the ground, and the screams.

He'd known something was off today. "CODE BLACK!"

Naija! then a nurse? Andre? HALP

Her babies!

Not hers, because Lee was her only baby, but the babies of the nursery! Adelaide, in all her wildest dramatic concoctions, would never have imagined that she would have to concern herself with an earthquake. A fucking earthquake. As in the ground was moving beneath them. How do you fight that? How do you fight when the ground you're supposed to be standing on is literally trying to knock you off your feet? When the ceiling above your head wanted to come crashing down on you and dozens of infants?

This hospital was damn lucky she was a damn good witch, Naija too. Adelaide let out a string of curse words before she clung across the top of her desk, shooting at the roof of the nursery to try and create some sort of shield. She saw Naija furiously moving the bassinets out of the room, and she forced herself to ignore all the screaming and crying of the babies. Just thinking that Lee was out there, that Andre was somewhere in the hospital made Adelaide send all of her strength into levitating the damn ceiling meters over their tiny bodies. There was no way that they were going to lose any of these children. No. Way.

But she was losing strength, and Adelaide let out a scream as the last of the children were moved and she lost her grip on the spell. Looking up for the split second she wasn't buried underneath the rubble, Adelaide let out a loud, "Fuck!"

"ADELAIDE!"

Naija had just turned back into the room to take over the spellwork when she saw her fellow healer lose it. Not even two steps into the room and BOOM!--the ceiling above them and the place where all of the infants in their ward had been just seconds before came crashing down on top of them.

She didn't even hear Adelaide's loud curse, only the sickening crushing of bones as she managed to throw her arms over her head just before being flattened into the ground by rubble. Naija wanted to yell out in pain, but something heavy lay flat on her stomach, and between that and what she was fairly certain were broken ribs, she could barely get enough dust-filled air to fill her lungs, much less speak up.

Today was turning out to be just bloody wonderful.
