Sirius!
Emmeline kicked at the dirt on the ground, irritated as usual. She couldn't try to hide the fact that nearly every time the Order saw her she was in a foul mood, but she couldn't try to fight it, either. The Order had nothing but failures this past year, on her part, and now with the holidays coming all she could think about was last Christmas, and last New Year's, and how everything in her world had decided to implode.

At least they were giving her something to do. Emmeline had a feeling that Frank had been secretly vocal about limiting her missions and stake-outs, but with the missing children being on the top of the Order's priorities, everyone was needed on hand. It didn't help that the Ministry was now in a twitter about this 'Order of the Phoenix,' looking for any sort of hint as to what it might meant. Thankfully the death eaters hadn't gone into more specific details when dealing out their ransom, but that just made Emmeline more concerned; there had to be a reason why they kept their information on the Order a secret from the ministry.

Sirius Black was not, and never had been, her partner of choice. Emmeline used to enjoy his company, but in recent months she'd simply found him irritating. Emmeline partially blamed herself on that, as she found most people irritating these days, but Sirius was rather good at strengthening one's dislike for him. Being stuck on this stake-out with him was confusing, and she leaned on the window sill to stare out at the complex they had been scoping. The windows she and Sirius were staring out of were charmed to be that of a family setting up Christmas ornaments to anyone looking outside, but it was really an abandoned muggle flat Edgar Bones had found a few weeks back.

"And we're sure that they can't disapparate out of the building? Potter said they'd need to head down to the corner---I suppose they could go to the roof if they really want," She craned her neck upwards, trying to get a visual of the roof.

"We're trying to keep on the underground," Sirius said with a slight roll of his eyes. "Nothing will shout to the ministry like secret group of vigilantes if we break into a heavily warded flat. We don't even know who it belongs to, despite our muggle investigations. I asked some of my contacts in the muggle auror office, they didn't have anything." It also didn't help that his biggest muggle police connection had been obliviated and was not very understanding in Sirius' need to know who owned that flat.

"Plus, I think we have a spy," Sirius glanced over at Emmeline and popped a cracker in his mouth. He didn't actually think they had a spy. At least, not anymore. Caradoc was at the very least missing, but he'd had way too much information and given the downward spiral everything had taken in the past year, it wasn't a hard connection. "Or at least, someone has information about our information. There are spells to reveal polyjuice transformations, I wouldn't trust going in someplace with people knowing that we've used it in the past," Sirius said, thinking back to a very amusing story about Remus and James and some filing cabinets.

She was ready to comment on how the Sirius Black didn't feel like playing things a little risky, when he started talking about a supposed spy. Emmeline kept an expressionless gaze on Sirius as he finished, and she looked back out the window in thought. For the past year she had tried, very hard, to force herself to believe that not everyone was talking about Caradoc, and what he did, and anything that might be related. It was of course harder in the Order house, but somehow she had managed.

Emmeline really couldn't ignore this, though. A spy? Another spy? After the catastrophe with Caradoc, Dumbledore was really---no, he wasn't saying it was an Order spy. None of the Order had ever been caught using polyjuice, it was a rather hard potion to mix, and to assume they used it often enough for the death eaters to be concerned about it was just wrong. What was Sirius thinking, then? How was he explaining to himself---

"You think we've got a traitor?" she blurted, turning to him once again. "A spy isn't---a spy for us would not be giving out our secrets," Emmeline retorted quickly, and for some reason she felt her heart speed up, "That's what you call a traitor."
