Corner/Englewood Wedding! For New Year's Eve!
Getting married was absolutely terrifying. No matter how smoothly Gabriel proceeded through the planning, the discussions, and the actual event, he was holding back getting sick the second he could catch a moment to himself. He knew he didn't love Rachel yet, which might be the reason why he was finding himself so nervous as they sat at the head table of their reception, but he did honestly---he did honestly believe that he could fall in love with this woman. She was fiery with a mind of her own, and though some people might be irritated by it, Gabriel actually appreciated the way she took control of things. He had always been a bit of a follower, and it was easy to agree with Rachel because her reasoning simply made sense.

The reception did look fantastic. Gabriel couldn't believe it was all put together within two short months, but then again he was learning that Rachel was a woman who set her goals and refused to leave them unfinished. Maybe he should look at that as a good thing; surely someone who did not want to get married would not have put so much effort into the ceremony? Or she simply wanted to throw the most beautiful wedding of them all, simply because she could. He didn't know, and didn't mind not finding out as long as they remained content with each other.

He did find her very interesting, however, and that was the first thing a Ravenclaw looked for in a spouse. Maybe all of his concerns were for naught, and it was simply wedding day jitters. His parents had been arranged in a similar manner, and they were still quite happily married (and sometimes nauseatingly sweet about it, too). Gabriel turned and smiled at Rachel, pushing his chair out and offering his hand, "Would you like to dance?"

A chorus of glasses clinging supported Gabriel, and he flushed slightly at all the attention that was on them, once again.

ooc: guest list! We did our best, but if we missed someone let us know!

Normally, Kalista enjoyed weddings. It was another opportunity for her to socialize and mingle…but now, it was a lot different. Now, she was getting strange looks from certain guests who knew who she was. Not that she should care what they thought of her, since it would only please them to see her all riled up, but…it wasn’t because of what she had done, that they were all staring at her. She was the sister of the man who had killed the minister…the man who had died fighting for a cause that he believed in. Not everyone believed in that cause, and thought of Evan as nothing more than a murderer…not a brother, a lover, or a son.

Lost in her own thoughts, Kalista hadn’t even noticed Augustus walk over to her. Feeling someone touch her hand caused her to quickly take in a breath, snapping her back to reality as her eyes darted over to see who it was. She gave him a pathetic, tight lipped smile, extending her hand to grab the glass he was extending towards her. “Thank you.” She looked down at the drink before turning her eyes back up to him, gently clearing her throat. “It was a lovely ceremony.” She said with another horrible excuse for a smile, trying to make small talk as she sipped at her drink. Her relationship with Augustus had gotten much better than it had been before, but…things were still a little rocky. It was hard to focus on building a relationship when the ones she already had kept falling apart.

He was an honourable man, that is what kept Augustus from breaking his agreement with Kalista's father and finding a more suitable family to attach his name to. It wasn't that he disbelieved the cause, it was that he had a business and his own family's reputation to think of, but once he and Kalista were married, there would be no more Rosiers and he would not have to deal with that stigma for too long. Though, he would have to deal with his betrothed's ghostly brother (figuratively) for awhile though. She just needed to get through the wedding and become pregnant as soon as possible and things would be well.

It would help if she'd pick a date though, Augustus noted. "It was. Hopefully you were able to better discern your own wants and desires when it comes to your-pardon, our ceremony?"

She went to sip at her drink again, though paused with the rim of the glass touching her lips, her oceanic orbs looking at him over the top of the champagne flute. Turning her gaze elsewhere, she took a larger sip of her drink, placing it down on the table. "I'll have to think about things some more. There are just...so many options." She turned back to him, glancing down only for a moment before she met his eyes once again. "Why, have you put any thought into it?" She was sort of interested to see how much he had been thinking about it; because honestly? She hadn't been thinking about it much at all. She had other things on her mind. She was trying to distract herself by trying on gowns, but nothing seemed to work.

Of course he had thought about it, not a lot, but he was eager to be married and enjoy his conjugal rights, so he had done his part in thinking about it. Kalista was young and she had just lost her brother, he wasn't about to pressure her into anything. Yet. "Well, I have who I would consider inviting to be as my attendants, pending your approval of course. Also, I was considering that we should perhaps be kind to my younger sister, she is very close to her due date and was thinking that maybe we should pick a date after my nephew is born so that Octavia may participate. But other than that, I have no discernible preferences. I was under the impression that it was something women truly enjoyed doing. I have not offended you, have I?" Augustus was sure he had not, but it couldn't hurt to humour her a little.

It wasn't too surprising, that he had at least put some thought into their wedding. Kalista had only just gotten used to the idea that she was to be a wife soon, so expecting her to think about flowers, and wedding halls, and everything else that came along with a wedding wasn't very realistic. He was right, in thinking that women did tend to enjoy planning a wedding, because they did. Kalista would have loved to plan a wedding for herself; she would have had a ball, picking out flowers, and dresses, and decorations, and everything, if her being engaged had happened like she always imagined. The man she loved would ask her to marry her, because he loved her, and needed her, and couldn't live without her...

...but that wasn't what happened at all. Sure, Augustus needed her, but for much different reasons. He needed a wife, and she was an attractive, well bred, available pureblood. Why wouldn't he choose her? It just made her angry, to think that things could have been different, if it weren't for this war. It was ruining everything.

She gave him a small smile and a shake of her head. "No, you haven't offended me at all. I think that's a fantastic idea, waiting until your sister has her son. I'm sure she'd enjoy the wedding much more, if she weren't so uncomfortable." She took another sip of her drink, trying not to finish it too quickly. She went quiet for a few moments before she sighed and looked back to him. "I apologize, if I've been acting inappropriately. I know what's expected of a woman in my position, but..." she looked down at her lap, and flatted the fabric of her dress. "...I've been a bit distracted. I hope I haven't cause you any offense, by acting...distant."

"You should talk to her, Octavia and Madam Lestrange, her mother in law, planned the entire event. It was quite something, I am sure she would be willing to help. If I had my mother, or you yours, I am sure we would have more direction and help. Saorise and Octavia will be helpful, I think. And you have lady friends, do you not?" Augustus said to her, keeping an eye on the crowd. Multitasking was good in situations as this, Augustus prided himself on being able to have such a conversation with his future wife will also making eye-contact and nodding at the proper people.

"I certainly encourage you to reach out, even if it still hurts. I cannot understand your emotions right now, but I can imagine. When Octavia was missing earlier this year, I was certainly beside myself," this was not actually completely true, but Augustus had been worried, for awhile. "I am not offended either, I have been trying to give you space in order for your grief to run its course."
