MacFarlan!
Seth had not been this angry in a long long time. He didn't even bother reading past the first paragraph before he had apparated to Odette's porch and banging on her door, the newspaper crumpled in his fist. He did not care that she might not even be home, or that Noah might answer the door, or if he woke any possibly sleeping children. All that mattered at this very moment was that MacFarlan get her ass out there and explain what the hell was going on.

He wasn't even sure what pissed him off more. That she got the Captainship, despite all his effort and that everything pointed to him being on his way to being reinstated. Doing mostly everything his brother had told him to. He listened to his little brother. If that didn't scream 'I'm trying to get my life together, what else did he need to do.

Or, the fact that she didn't tell him. That he found out by reading it in the damn paper. Hadn't they been getting along? Trying to work together. He'd even go as far to as to say they were almost friends. She knew that this had been his aim ever since the preseason. And she never thought to mention she was out for the job too? Or that she was under consideration, unless she was just being nice so he wouldn't suspect anything. Seth's mind was reeling, going off in tangents and rants trying to decide what this all meant.

"MacFarlan!!" he yelled through the door banging on it again. "Answer the damn door!"

Holy fuck, was this necessary? Putting her hands to her ears, she shook her head as she rushed toward the front of the house. But despite covering her ears, Odette still winced with every bang on the door. Thank Merlin Noah had decided to take Terry out for some male bonding earlier today.

That would have been all she needed. A completely crazed Seth Wadcock banging on their door as her riled-up husband banged from the other side back, with the children no doubt crying because of all the chaos. Anna was upstairs sleeping, though who knew for how long after this.

Continuing to shake her head, Odette released one hand from her ear to start banging back. "Wadcock! Wadcock! Just--- stop!" She knew why he was here. No doubt he had read the paper already, it was the afternoon already...

And, well--- It wasn't that she felt guilty, it was just... all of this was just shitty. Not the most ideal situation she had imagined after finally being named captain. It wasn't like this wasn't something she had wanted for a long time now, just voicing it hadn't been prudent. So basically she just needed to do some serious damage control.

"I'm not opening to the door until you stop!"

Seth huffed loudly but stopped when he heard her on the other side. He folded his arms across his chest and waited for her to open the door.

He glared at the closed door in front of him. Her demanding he stop was unnecessary. Generally that's what you do when someone opens the door. Stop knocking.

"Alright then," he said after a moment. "Take any longer and I'm going to think you are avoiding me."

She hadn't expected him to actually stop. In fact, Odette would have put money that Seth would've continued to make a scene, even begin to pound louder on her front door, leaving her but no choice to never speak to him face to face. Well. Wasn't that just great. Now he starts to act unpredictable.

Odette sighed, and ran a hand through her hair. Maybe this wouldn't be that bad. Maybe he wouldn't make it his life mission to absolutely torture her like she did him. Big fat chance, and that was why she was having so much trouble opening the door. She deserved this, she had worked so bloody hard for this team! It practically owned her as a child, owned her now--- so it wasn't fair that Seth was going to make this difficult.

Well. Odette closed her eyes, focusing. No. He could be mad, he fully had that right, but she was not going to back down on this. Management had named her captain for a reason, not him again. Keeping this in mind, Odette had no further problem opening the door and send a rightful glare at her teammate across the threshold.

"Can I help you?" she asked, keeping her hand on the door. It wasn't that he wasn't invited in, just that if Noah ever found out Seth had been in the house while he had not, well, hence the reason Odette was keeping her body in the middle of the doorframe.

"Yes. Yes you can." Seth said trying his best to keep his voice even. He shoved the paper at Odette, still all crumpled up.

"Would you care to explain this? Not the obvious part, the part about why you didn't tell me." And don't think he didn't notice how she held herself in the door so he couldn't get in. What did she think, that he was going to run in and trash her house. Perhaps push her off her broomstick because he was unhappy with the decision. Because that one didn't sound anything like anyone he knew.

"Because I can't think of a single reason why you wouldn't tell me, other than you just liked watching me strive for something I wouldn't achieve. Did you find it amusing to watch me work so hard for nothing? I thought--I thought we were past this sort of thing. I had thought we were trying to work together." he sneered.

Now, she was knew she had to try and stay calm, but having things shoved in her face wasn't exactly helping. Jerking back slightly, Odette pushed her lips together tight as Seth spoke. Her grip on the crushed article tensed, her face becoming flatter and flatter by the second.

Try to understand where he was coming from. Don't start yelling back. Half of whatever he is going to say will be meant to get a rise out of her. Stay calm. Maintain breathing. Breathing was important. Just let Seth say whatever he needed to say to eventually feel better. Odette wished she could have closed her eyes, but she knew that would only fuel him even further.

Once he had finished, Odette took a deep breath. "Look--- I didn't find out until last night after the match," she started, her head tilting to the side slightly. "And it's not--- I didn't know, they just sort of told me. What was I suppose to say?"

Before giving Seth another chance to speak, Odette shook her head and spoke again. "And we are, I just--- I'm sorry." She bit her lip for a moment, knowing that what she said next would really put her out on a limb. "I hope we can still work together--- to fix everything."

"Anything!" Seth said just short of yelling. "You could of said anything and it would have been better than this. At the very least you could of told them to hold off on the announcement until you told the rest of the team." And by the rest of the team he really meant himself. Although he would never admit it, how he found out about this was probably worse than not getting the position.

"And what exactly is there left to fix? The team is winning, we haven't had bad press in months, hell I haven't even mentioned the last two months. The only problem I see left is that you got the job I spent the last year trying to get back. Everyone else is happy and I got screwed. Nothing left to fix." Seth said setting his jaw. "And don't. Just don't even bother trying with your fake apologies. You're not sorry at all. From the very start, you never wanted me here. If I wasn't so stupid, I would have seen this coming."

Odette jerked back again as Seth started to yell, her automatic defense beginning to take over. He was making it difficult for her to stay calm; it would be so much easier to just start yelling back, tell him just exactly how she felt. About how before he forced his way into her life, things were fine. About how team had little drama, completely not overshadowed by what went on in the locker over the pitch. About how he had had his chance, and failed, so it was rightfully her turn, like it always had been. And most importantly, how they were barely even friends, so what gave him the right to tell at her like this?

Gritting her teeth together, Odette took many deep breaths before speaking. "It's not fake," she spoke in a low tone, pulling her lips back as she spoke. "I am not lying to your face. If you think I have been scheming ---" Odette stopped, cutting herself off. She really just wanted him to go away. Just--- leave her alone, deal with him later.

She wanted to be happy, why couldn't she be happy about this? Suddenly loosing most of her energy, Odette's grip sagged. Blinking slowly, her voice returned to an unemotional tone. "Is there anything else you feel like telling me?"
