cael!
It was utterly pathetic to come to a bar alone. This was a fact of life to which Cecilia had subscribed fiercely for much of her existence... that was, until she had become pathetic herself. Now, such entertainment was a passable way to spend an evening, even if dwelling upon the idea of how she must have looked was less than desirable.

Either way, she had to get her fix. And who did she have left to accompany her? Between having either disgraced or chased off most of her family, the love of her life being killed, his memory driving her away from spending time near his sister, her closest friends otherwise being locked up in prison, and the man she was supposed to marry to get over all of it run off and engaged to a disgusting halfblood, really Cecilia did not have much left. It was her own fault, maybe, for having made the decisions she had. Maybe it was a string of terrible luck.

All she knew was that it left her becoming a woman that just a year before she would have despised--the lonely girl at the end of the bar.

Well, if anything, at least she had come out of it a little less judgemental.

Tilting her head back, she finished off the glass and pursed her lips together, setting the empty vessel back atop the wood. Without having to say a word, Albert--the bartender, that was.. she knew this one by name--refilled it instantly. It was still quite early in the evening, but she knew that the faster she drank, the quicker it would pass. With that in her head, she began on her second...

He had started staring at a random crack in the cement beneath him, just about to take the last drag of his cigarette before her voice caught his attention, brows raising with interest before he smirked at her realization, taking the last drag while also straightening up, blowing the smoke away from her as he flicked his own cigarette butt to the side, turning back just in time to extend his free hand out to take hold of her smaller version, giving it a firm shake – the worst impression to make on anyone was to give them a dead fish handshake. That said a lot about a person.

Cecilia Hooke…he had definitely heard the name somewhere. So she looked familiar, and her name sounded familiar, which only meant he had to know her. His assumption was from Hogwarts, but he didn’t remember which part – if they had been in a class together, or if maybe he just knew about her through one of his friends.

“Cael Gray…and you’re very welcome.”

Dropping his hand down he gestured over to the door.

“How about I walk ya back inside? That way, you can either take your place by yourself at the bar, or, you can take me up on that offer from before.”

He let it be her choice, obviously hoping she would choose to join them, but he wasn’t holding his breath. IF she was a Slytherin, and used the word ‘boorish’, she probably didn’t like boisterous crowds - especially boisterous crowds of drunk men who only half-spoke English, and that was speaking for only half of the group. Still, the offer was out there. It left her another option, if she found she didn’t feel very much like sitting by herself.

The name struck a bell, but at this point it was no surprise. Cecilia knew she knew him from somewhere, and that was all that she was going to get out of it. She had simply met too many people in her life to dedicate part of her brain to remembering every last one of them, especially those whom she knew she had not seen for years.

Even if they were fairly handsome and charming.

Pushing away from the wall, she smiled lightly at him. No, as much as she would have liked to afford herself the company of many handsome and foreign men, something in the back of her mind said that accepting the invitation with this particular man was a bad idea. Of course she might have fun, but therein lay the issue--considering that she had already let on more hints about herself than she did with her normal company at this bar, the idea of continuing to talk to him with the added benefit of more alcohol was not the most intelligent choice.

She had done well to keep herself cut off to the rest of the world, effectively keeping everyone out of the steel wall of personal boundaries she had put up. Something about this man said that her well-kept privacy was in danger the longer they spoke, and she could simply not have that.

"You know what, I think it's time for me to leave," she lied again, sending him her best sorry smile. In fact, she was sorry to leave, for whatever reason... Which was exactly the issue. "I'm meeting a friend later tonight and probably should get going. But it was a pleasure meeting you."

He scrunched his nose, an expression of mild disappointment that quickly melted away as he smirked down at her, giving her a nod of his head to show he understood. “Yeah, I wouldn’t wanna keep you. And the feeling is mutual.” He had a feeling that she was just lying to him, but he wasn’t going to hold it against her.

As she started to walk away, Cael climbed the stairs back up to the bar, but stopped so he could turn and catch her attention before she got too far.

“Cecilia.”

He waited until she acknowledged the calling of her name, and he looked at her and smiled softly.

“Have fun.”

It was a suggestion as well as a hope that she actually would, even if she may not have even been going off to see this ‘friend’ of hers.
