Caradoc!
She had always thought that daydreaming was for those who couldn't handle their thoughts, but Emmeline had found much of her time spent in her new life staring out the window and into the street, getting lost in various dreams and ideas. She wasn't completely satisfied with this new habit of hers, but it seemed to make the days go by faster, and the further away from her past in England, the better, she liked to think.

Emmeline idly opened and closed the wedding invitation that had arrived last week from Davy Gudgeon as she continued to stare. She still hadn't responded, but she was sure she was going to go. Mostly because it would give her a chance to visit Anneliese, and make sure that Juliet wasn't plotting Nott's death. The few aspects of her past back in England still called to her, giving her some sort of sense of responsibility. Emmeline was sure that's what she missed. As much as she wanted to get away from everything that had tortured her these last five years, here in New York there was no sense of...she didn't feel any urgency. That was supposed to be a good thing, wasn't it? But she'd lived with that tense sensation shaking her very bones for as long as she could remember and it was hard to become accustomed to not having to...well, she supposed...worry.

Her eyes followed a couple walking hand in hand on the sidewalk and a smile slowly crept onto her face, her braided hair falling out of its twist as she let her head rest against the window pane. Her legs stretched across the window seat and she continued to twist the invitation around in her hands, not hearing Caradoc enter the bedroom behind her.

See, she wasn't supposed to respond with that. That response made things much more difficult. It showed that she knew he had seen the invitation before, and that he had already been thinking about this conversation. Even more, it meant that she knew that he did not approve of her going, or why else would she ask him so easily of his opinion? He knew she would want to go, she had always enjoyed other's company much more than he did, but that gave him the ability to be more clearheaded concerning issues like this.

So, Caradoc blinked as he looked at her, not waiting a second longer to respond. "You know what I think," he said steadily. He did not move as he spoke, keeping his arms crossed over his chest in his leaning position against the window. She knew it wouldn't be safe, something not smart to do (something a Ravenclaw would never do, he would point out soon enough), so there was no need to be obnoxious about it. Yet, anyway.

He also... didn't feel like making this complicated. Complicated arguments and conversations were for before, when there was a time and effort for them. Now was not one of those times, and to be honest, it felt like they had been on a permanent vacation for so long, his mind and body had shifted into conserve mode. He had never slept so much in his life, never thought less and never wanted to just do nothing more than right now. It was strange, but pleasurable. Caradoc now knew what Emmet had meant when he told him to 'calm the fuck down and chill for ten minutes.'

Emmeline let out a quick breath from her nose, eyes dropping down and out into the street again. Of course she knew what he wanted. She wasn't particularly sure what she wanted. The wedding would be something enjoyable to go to, but it wasn't a pressing matter, either. Davy would have much more on his mind than being upset that she couldn't make the trip, she was sure. Anneliese would continue to beg her to come visit as she hadn't met her daughter yet, and then there was the guilt of leaving Frank and Neville behind...Emmeline watched another couple walk by, looking as carefree as a person could be. She realized then that she wasn't jealous of them, she was just unsure of how to be that way, how to live like a trip to England was a good thing and not some life threatening journey.

She wanted to live like that. She'd moved her to be with Caradoc, not to fight about going home...this was home now, England was where her life had been nearly destroyed, numerous times. It was very hard to accept that, and now that she was facing the first potential fight she and Caradoc could have in this new life of theirs...

"Fine," she let out with a sigh, sitting back against the wall. Emmeline rolled her eyes to the ceiling, a smile playing on her face as she stretched out her legs to rest her feet on his lap. Their lives should have nothing to do with fights that brought back the past, opened up old wounds and made either of them stress about things they were supposed to have escaped from. Their life was new and refreshing, and even though Emmeline was sure she'd make the trip back to England at some point, the wedding was not important enough to her to ruin what they had now. Even if she herself had been ruining it by being so absorbed with everything but Caradoc.

Strange. Emmeline dropped her gaze to him, "Go on, gloat." Her smile widened and she blushed.

He wasn't going to lie, Caradoc was surprised at Emmeline's response. That was it? End of discussion? Well, it seemed his persuasion skills had skyrocketed to near perfection. He had said less than a paragraph's worth to her an, there wasn't even a hint of annoyance or grimace on her face. This had turned out much better than he had hoped. A pat on the back was deserved, if he didn't say so himself.

Thoroughly pleased with himself and her, a smile hooked quickly onto Caradoc's face. "Me, gloat?" he said, rolling his eyes and speaking in such a tone that Emmeline could tell he was joking.

Well, now that all of that was taken care of, there was no reason why they couldn't return to their normal schedule of sleep, sex, and relaxation. Since he had already taken a nap today (seriously don't even get him started on how awesome those were), and all that mental prepping left him feeling anything but relaxed, there was really only one option left.

Caradoc smoothly slid down and close to Emmeline, effectively propping himself on top of her with little hitch. Smiling down at her, he waited until he was able to breathe his next words hotly into her ear. "I would never," Caradoc said in a low tone, a very familiar impish grin now appearing on his face. His focus wandered down to her neck, finding her skin to be especially soft today.
