PEOPLE IN THE TAG
Rose had both arms wrapped around one of Octavius', swinging her legs with pointed toes as they walked down the cobbled street. That had been a nice date, with nice weather, nice food--- nice everything! They should have more dates like that one! Just calm, relaxed and--- happy! She just felt so happy in this moment, and not because of the beverage they had been drinking, but because they were getting back to normal again, with genuine happy feelings, and--- it just made her so happy to be happy with her boyfriend!

"Ohh, ohh, we should go get-- get---" Rose patted Octavius every time the word at the tip of her tongue escaped her. Desserts! Make desserts? No no, it was like pie but not really at all-- "Tarts!" she exclaimed happily, jumping slightly as it finally came to her. Though, she was rather full, so maybe something less heavy? "Or maybe whipped cream." Her smile curled into a grin as she her thoughts wandered, despite looking up to Octavius playfully. Her eyes strayed, just for a second and---

"Look it's Kendall!" she pointed, interrupting herself as she spotted their friend through the bar window they were walking by. What was he doing all alone by himself? That was sad. He had friends! He wasn't a loner! He shouldn't be looking sad! Though, the Kestrels had just lost to Pride, so that was kind of sad because who wanted them still winning?

Getting a smart idea, Rose turned back to Octavius. "Let's go say hi!" she said quickly, letting go of him to skip to the pub. It felt like she and Kendall hadn't talked in ages--- well, not really, but... just not as much as usual? With their schedules, and Thomas, and everything else... she didn't know what was going on with him. That was not acceptable.

"HI!" Rose exclaimed, promptly resting her elbow on the bar and her chin in her hand as she plopped herself in the seat next to Kendall.

Kendall pursed his lips as Rose covered her face and started to cry. He could feel the gazes of the other people around them. This is why he didn't want to say anything. Exactly why he tried to leave. Because the second you said something upsetting to Rose she started crying and it left him feeling like a prick.

He was not going to feel guilty about how he felt. He probably could have told her in a kinder fashion, but that's what she got for pressing the issue. This was not his fault. She wasn't even saying anything! Just standing there crying. Kendall couldn't decide if she was crying because he was right and called her out on it, or if she was crying because she thought he was being mean. He couldn't deal with this.

"You wanted to talk." he said holding up his hands. After all these years she should have know better than to push him while he was upset. "You don't get to cry and make me feel guilty about how I feel. Not after you insisted on stopping me from leaving. Not when you can't prove me wrong. Rose, you are one of my best friends, but sometimes you make me feel like the only reason we're friends is because of Thomas and that's not okay."

He should just leave. Octavius was somewhere around here, he could cheer her up. Kendall did feel bad that he probably ruined their date but again, not his fault. Not entirely.

Prove him wrong? Only friends because of Thomas? All her fault? Why--- how she could have possibly upset him this much all this time to deserve these words was unbearable. She-- she did not think any of these things, none of them, and to hear them so candidly from him was difficult to swallow. How-- they weren't true, he misunderstood.

"Why are you saying these things!" Rose cried, releasing her hands down to her sides, feeling a deep burning sensation forming in her stomach. He-- didn't her understand how hurtful he was being? She would never do this to him. "Not-- not everything is my fault," she wailed, her legs, and therefore her feet, beginning to wobble. Her vision was hazy, but the need to at least, however pitifully, defend herself kept her stirred at attention.

"I don't--- I don't do that!" she sobbed loudly, flailing her arms as she spoke. "I don't--- I don't do those things!" What more could she say? What did he want from her? Was he mad? Was he jealous? It didn't--- Rose didn't understand where this was coming from. Why, why?

"It's--- it's not okay that you-- you--- treat me-- like--" Rose said randomly, swinging one arm to wrap around her own torso. Her tears continued to fall, and it proved difficult to say much else as her mind focused on that Kendall didn't see their friendship as they meaningful way she did. He was important to her. If he truly didn't, then... was she losing a friend tonight?

"You do, you just don't realize it." Kendall insisted, folding his arms across his chest. "And that's partly my fault because I've never said anything, but that doesn't change the fact that it happens."

He was about to demand to know what she meant by the way he treated her when the sinking feeling of regret was started to settle in his stomach. He was letting his anger get the better of him. He should have let things lie. He hardly had tact when sober, so confrontations after a few drinks was hardly a good idea. He never could control what he said when he was angry and had talent for using cutting words, such a lovely habit his father instilled in him.

He took a deep breath realizing what he really needed to do. Walk away, Broadmoor, just walk away. "I shouldn't have said anything tonight, this is hardly the place for this conversation. I'm going to go before this becomes something unsalvageable. You should go find Octavius, and I am going to go home to cool off. We can talk about this later, when we are both sober." Everything about walking away from Rose while she was crying felt wrong. Even if it was the right thing to do, so he waited until he spotted Octavius across the bar and made sure he was at least aware of where Rose was before turning to leave.
