Adamina!
Tim let out a breath, taking the rambling, upset hitwizard by the shoulders.

"Bianca, go home," he said, bending at the knees to look the girl in the eyes. She frowned, shaking her head. Tim knew she felt guilty, like she was the cause of all this, but he couldn't let her. He had to be the strong one because he hadn't been there to protect his wife and son. Bianca had been the one that had put up the fight, she had been the one who had gotten hurt, so he couldn't let her give anymore. "You don't have to stand guard."

"But what if---"

Tim shook his head and calmly explained to Bianca that she herself had a child to go home to, and that she couldn't spend all of her time at St. Mungo's. As much as Tim wanted to have a guard, a hitwizard, an auror, anyone at Adamina's door while she recovered, he knew that it just wasn't possible, or fair. And---he was here now. He wouldn't let anything happen to his wife or son, not again, not on his life. When Bianca finally resigned and left, Tim let out another sigh and went back into his sleeping wife's room. It was dark, and he crossed the room to pull the shades slightly. He stared out the window at the busy London streets, letting his mind wander.

He was fine.

He was fine. The refrain cycled through her head. She didn't know. She couldn't tell anymore, because that fluttery feeling in her stomach had gone away and it had not come back. The things that they had done to her—to him—she didn't know if it ever could.

But everything was fine.

That should have meant she was fine as well, but knowing this, and seeing Tim try so hard to keep himself together for her, she felt the tears so successfully staunched mere moments ago flood her. Great, big racking breaths and sobs that had her vision greying. Adamina tried to breathe through it, tried to calm herself by repeating that everything was fine, but no matter what she tried, she couldn't stop it. The irrational tears terrified her, because she had no control, and she could feel panic grip her.

"Don't leave me!" she cried, fighting against the weight that kept her from turning to face him completely, straining. It wasn't at all what she meant to say. She meant to tell him that she loved him, that she never thought she'd see him again. She meant to ask about her girls. She meant to tell him she called their baby after him because that was all she had left of her husband, and she wanted one small piece of him with her when she died, because that was what was going to happen to her. She meant to, she meant to say that, to tell him everything and more, but all that came out of her mouth were the wretched sobs of "Don't leave me, please don't leave me!" as she clung to his hands.

Tim’s mouth dropped open in shock at his wife’s outburst of fear. He froze, the feeling of devastation consuming him. What could he do for her? She was home, but she was still hurt, miserable, and scared. His wife was terrified for her safety and that of their unborn son. Tim couldn't control himself; he climbed onto the hospital bed with her, squeezing beside Adamina on the narrow mattress like they had so many times in Hogwarts. His arms went around her, their bodies curving into each other perfectly like they always did.

"Never, I'm never---" He hadn't left her, but he had to promise that he never would, he had promised that to her. She had to know that he wouldn't go anywhere, that---he would have done anything he could have to stop her kidnappers from taking her, Tim would have gotten himself killed if it meant Adamina would be free to escape. He almost wished he had, because the feeling of guilt and uselessness was beginning to strangle him.

He kissed her head, his hands pressing to her, going to her hair, holding her as close as possible to reassure her that he was here, that he wasn't going anywhere. Tim took in deep breaths as he buried his face in her hair, the familiar smell relieving him that even though she was still hurting, she was here. He kissed her over and over, muttering what he hoped were soothing words. He had to do everything to help her now because he'd failed so badly.
