All Star Gala! For Saturday!
In all honesty, he would rather be on his broomstick, making up practice and his regiments than dressed up at a party. Thomas knew that the All Star match didn't really count, but when you were flying among the best of the best, a player wanted to be the best of the best. He wasn't as rusty as he thought he'd be, but just the lack of flying made his muscles more sore after practice than he was used to. He was barely holding himself up, and if it weren't for the beautiful woman on his arm he'd probably be slumped in a chair, ready to pass out from exhaustion.

Samantha was back and he could fly. Both of his best friends had made the all-star team, and they were going to be playing together for the first time in their careers. Thomas really couldn't think of anything that could make him happier, though showing up Brookstanton on the pitch might be the cherry on top. They were teammates, and however much Thomas found the other beater loathsome, he would work with him for the win. It would at least be an interesting match, if anything.

"Would you like to dance?" he asked Samantha, smiling. He'd missed her terribly and was glad that her stint out of the country was over. Just in time.

"You look lovely tonight." He complimented her as he lead her off to a corner where they could talk uninterrupted. This conversation was going to be tense enough without chipper chatter surrounding them.

He didn't even know where to begin or what he was going to say. He honestly felt like he had a legitimate point, but at the same time he felt bad that he mad her cry and then just walked away. But going into the all star game holding a grudge, so he was going to just let it go. Suck it up and deal with it and apologize for hurting her feelings.

"I'm sorry." he said once they were off to the side. "I took my frustrations out on you and it wasn't fair. I shouldn't have said some of the things I said."

She pressed a small smile for Kendall. He was just being nice--- which was why, Rose remembered as they walked, she had realized their last interaction had hurt her as much as it had. They'd had their moments, she'd admit, but for the most part they had never... she had never seen Kendall as someone who could, or even would, purposely hurt her. An unrealistic source of blunt reality, yes, but not in a way that made her want to bawl her eyes out. They stopped walking eventually, and she was glad they were away from most people.

Oh. Rose looked down at the ground, feeling uncomfortable. He was apologizing for the situation, not for all that had been said. She couldn't remember most of what he'd said, just how she felt when she'd woken up the next morning; like a selfish friend and a two-timing girlfriend. Perhaps that was the best apology she would get, because even she wasn't sure what Kendall could say to make those feelings go away.

"I forgive you," Rose spoke softly, her hand moving to clutch her opposite arm's elbow. There was no point in making him think she had been angry, because she hadn't been. Just as their was equally no point in pressing the issue further, or trying to get him to say what she wanted to hear.

"I really am sorry Rose." Kendall repeated even though she had just said that she forgave him. It felt too easy, too simple.

He shuffled his feet awkwardly and looked around the room briefly before turning his attention back to her. "We don't hang out enough, not just the two of us. The last time we did that was when we were planning to kidnap Thomas for his birthday. Maybe we should try fixing that. Thomas and I go golfing all the time, so maybe we should do something like that." he suggested quietly. He didn't like that he felt the way that he did, and maybe this would fix that.

"I just-- I don't want you to think that I don't think of you as one of my best friends, because I do. That's not--" he stumbled over his words trying to find the right ones. "You are not my friend just because of Thomas."

"I know," Rose sighed, resting the side of her chin on her shoulder, still looking at the ground. Kendall was not a liar, and certainly not someone that just handed out apologies to make other people feel better. She understood that he must only be doing this because he felt it truly necessary and important. That realization did make her feel better. At least enough to look up from the ground and at him.

Just when she thought her spirits had risen (doing something, once a week, would be nice--- they should spend more time together), Kendall kept talking. Rose bit the inside of her lip. She hadn't been thinking that until he'd said it. Was that what he had said to her? That he thought they were friends only because of Thomas? It had.... maybe in the beginning it had started like that, but she certainly did not feel that way now. There were things she only felt comfortable with Kendall with, just like with Danielle and Thomas. A frown formed on her face, and she quickly brought her head back to resting on her shoulder and her hands clutching her opposite elbows.

"I don't think of you that way," Rose muttered, wishing now she had brought a thick sweater to wrap herself in, in the middle of the summer. "I'm sorry if I made you think that..." she trailed off, unsure what else to say.

"Doing an activity together could be nice," she finished lamely.

Kendall rubbed his knuckles across his chin. He hated this conversation. It felt like they were standing here defining their relationship. And now she was apologizing which really wasn't necessary. Plus there was no way to accept it with out confirming that he did feel that way at times. "This isn't your fault Rose." he said hating the look she had on her face as she apologized to him. Merlin, he was such an jerk to her.

"Look. It will be great. Just, let's just pick anything like volunteering to take care of a Jarvis or anything realated to magical creatures. I'm still surprised Professor Kettleburn let us anywhere near living animals after fourth year." he joked with a small smile. They did have good times together. Kendall just need to get over himself and these ridiculous feelings he was having recently.

There was a bitter taste in her mouth, now, that Rose couldn't quite swallow away. Could this conversation be over with? Dealing with increasing shame for her actions that she couldn't remember or had never felt she had done purposely, was difficult to deal with. Especially at a public event like this. Where there was a good chance someone else might be watching--- or taking a picture! Rose felt her neck heat up at the thought of a witch or wizard immortalizing this exchange in a photograph.

Fearful of that, Rose immediately picked her head up from her shoulder and let her arms drop to her sides. She really... just wanted to stop talking about this. So when Kendall gave an opportunity to move on from the subject, Rose took it.

"Or maybe something that involves no Jarvis," she smiled weekly, having zero desire to go anywhere near those creatures again. She would rather not partake in anything that created a high-level tensity situation. Rose idly reached to scratch under her ear as she thought of what something like that might be. Coming up with nothing, she lightly patted Kendall's shoulder.

"We'll think of something." Rose put on another smile for Kendall, knowing she would have to look even a little bit happy for him to believe that they were past this. Whatever "this" was. She knew it wouldn't leave her for a while, but it would not be smart to externalize those feelings, would it?
