Axe's Anniversary of Birth!!!!
Charlie was pretty sure he'd missed out on a wonderful career as a party planner. As he stared out at the dance floor, which he stood over on a platform where the DJ was spinning a mix of wizard and muggle music (even with some popular French songs that were actually pretty catchy if Charlie said so himself). He wasn't surprised at how many people showed up, but it still nearly startling to see how bloody happy everyone was to be there! Sure, some looked ridiculous with the fake mustaches that were passed out (not required, obviously), but a lot had actually grown out their beards and it was----cool, they tried, they wanted to be there and they wanted to have a good time. Charlie wanted to have a good time.

The Kestrels were not top of the pack, and while he believed in his team completely, the stress of the numbers had been getting to them. A night like this was necessary, and maybe it could rejuvenate the team that had lost some valuable members this season and had done a bit of shifting around. They were still trying to get themselves into place, and it needed to happen faster than it was.

Plus, Axe had been pissy all week that no one had acknowledged the anniversary of his birth.

Charlie grabbed the mic from the DJ and grinned, enjoying colorful scene laid out in front of him. funkybuddha club had been a perfect choice for the night, "Don't everyone tire themselves out! There's still a lot more festivites to look forward to!"

Glenda smiled softly. "My mother gave me her name when I was born," Gleny explained, agreeing that it was rather misleading. Traditionally speaking, she should've taken her father's last name, as her parents had been happily married for many years, but it had never... been a pressing matter. And that had been what her parents had decided on, so... she blinked quickly, catching herself before wandering into a dazed manner.

"He likes you," Gleny smiled again, speaking truthfully as she looked up at Matt. After all, he had agreed to meet him--- why, she was now realizing, might have been for different reasons than she'd intended, but that was still good nonetheless. If for anything else to help Matt's career along. Plus, it was always nice to see Joy.

This party was... not something she had been expecting. And Gleny would admit, while this theme of mustaches made little to no sense to her, she supposed she could find the fun in it. Truthfully, she had already secured a few in her purse to bring home to Tristan, who would no doubt find much pleasure in them. So, all in good fun?

He likes him. Glenda's words made him even dizzier, and he kept a hand to his head to keep him from literally passing out. Wow. Whoa. Okay! Okay, he needed to focus. The music was loud, the lights were changing colors, and the drinks were good even though he was still barely a sip into his second one. Time to focus on what was important (even though Finn McLaggen was ruddy important!). Matt smiled down at Glenda, shoulders scrunched in excitement. He was really happy to be here.

"I'm glad you thought it'd be fun to hang out with me!" Matt said, a bit loudly because even though they'd moved away from the main dance area it was still rather loud. He was sure his ears would be ringing for the next week, but it would be a very good feeling. "You look amazing!"

She really did. There was no denying that Glenda was a beauty and had left him speechless during their time together, but tonight was the first time he'd been with her all dressed up and she had her focus on him. Matt would not look too far into things; he wasn't one to push things to go faster than they needed to be. He liked spending time with Glenda, she seemed to like spending time with him, and if one day she decided that she would like to kiss him (because he really wanted to kiss her), then that would be great.

He lifted his chin to scratch at his beard, "This party's definitely worth not shaving for a week." Hey, even the rest of the Cannons had stopped shaving, it was being seen as a team spirit sort of deal.

She laughed at his reaction, finding it amusing and refreshing. Refreshing. Had she just laughed? Glenda's eyes widened a little, surprised with herself. It was no... she could not deny that within the past years of her life, she had found that her need and desire to express such happiness had been few and far in between. So... so for reasons she wanted to keep to herself, Gleny felt her cheeks flush. Blush! She quickly sought to hide it.

"Thank you," she shook her head and ducked it, speaking too quietly to be heard properly in a place like the one they were in. And it wasn't because--- he always complimented her, sometimes for things that she didn't realize were even compliment worthy. But it wasn't bad, it just made her insides jump in an anxious way. It was different.

"You look very nice yourself," she spoke louder now, feeling less red. "Especially with your---" Instead of saying it, Glenda put her index finger to her mouth, holding it flat above her lip to create a wiggling finger mustache. She smiled, and laughed again. Hopefully he would find her joke funny. But it wasn't even a joke, just a... thing. A thing? How was she confusing herself in her own thoughts?

Hm. Letting it go, Gleny looked up at Matt and smiled again. "But I definitely think you need a bit more mustache-related things to fully become one with this theme."

He couldn't help but blush at her compliment, and it took some effort not to laugh stupidly when she actually touched him. Matt was good at this, this being friends thing. He was also good at being the nice guy. He felt like there was no reason to not be the nice guy, and to not take insult when things didn't go his way. Things happened for a reason. While he had found himself growing frustrated at his seemingly failed career choice, Matt always knew that there was a light at the end of this endless quidditch tunnel. He would be able to show everyone how good he really could be, and now he was.

Matt was perfectly fine sticking around for a bit, giving Glenda time to see how really great of a guy he was. Not to brag, of course. But even he knew he was a great guy.

"More mustaches!" he let out, putting his hands up. As if the Mustache Gods were listening, the song changed into one Matt actually knew and enjoyed, "I love this song!" Without hesitation, he took hold of Glenda's hand and started toward the dance floor. They could search for more mustaches while dancing, right?
