Axe's Anniversary of Birth!!!!
Charlie was pretty sure he'd missed out on a wonderful career as a party planner. As he stared out at the dance floor, which he stood over on a platform where the DJ was spinning a mix of wizard and muggle music (even with some popular French songs that were actually pretty catchy if Charlie said so himself). He wasn't surprised at how many people showed up, but it still nearly startling to see how bloody happy everyone was to be there! Sure, some looked ridiculous with the fake mustaches that were passed out (not required, obviously), but a lot had actually grown out their beards and it was----cool, they tried, they wanted to be there and they wanted to have a good time. Charlie wanted to have a good time.

The Kestrels were not top of the pack, and while he believed in his team completely, the stress of the numbers had been getting to them. A night like this was necessary, and maybe it could rejuvenate the team that had lost some valuable members this season and had done a bit of shifting around. They were still trying to get themselves into place, and it needed to happen faster than it was.

Plus, Axe had been pissy all week that no one had acknowledged the anniversary of his birth.

Charlie grabbed the mic from the DJ and grinned, enjoying colorful scene laid out in front of him. funkybuddha club had been a perfect choice for the night, "Don't everyone tire themselves out! There's still a lot more festivites to look forward to!"

Michal!

Charlie Spinnet really had a way about him. Therese had practically been bombarded at her office by the Kestrel, begging, pleading, nearly demanding if she cared about his life to come and help set up Rupert's birthday party. He could have asked her in a much simpler, quieter manner and she would have agreed, but it was amusing to see the lengths he would go to get her to come along. Of course she would help! Rupert was a friend of hers, a good one, one that she liked hanging out with even when they weren't shagging. They were adults, it was fine!

It was fine. Therese had been doing her very best to avoid quidditch events, which had worked out splendidly because Michal made it a point to never show up either, so to see some of the players and people she had become friendly with over the years was rather nice. She really did love the Kestrels and had missed spending time with them. Charlie had of course been increasingly grateful for her help and had made a bit of a scene by carrying her into the VIP booth, but after that bit Therese was left to her own devices. It was just so much fun! And she wasn't even drinking, that much! Only a little! It was definitely a combination of her excitement of seeing some old friends and the pretty candy-like drinks that had caused her to send a rather exclamation point-filled speed owl to Michal, telling him that he should come! He would have a lot of fun, and she wanted to see him.

That had to be about two hours ago, but Therese couldn't be bothered to really be sure. After a rousing chorus of happy birthday (which she sung in French!), Rupert attempting to drag her over to Holly Troy to initiate a snogging session (which did not happen thanks to her razor sharp nails), and literally getting circles danced around her by Tony Chang (which she enjoyed but got dizzy from!), Therese was still feeling rather happy and energized. That might have to do with the latest green drink she had, which she was sure was more revitalizing potion than actual alcohol---she could not be sure which would have been worse.

Oh, well! She sipped her drink through the straw (mustache adorned straw, obviously) daintily, watching the crowd as she allowed her feet to rest. Therese was proud of herself; she'd kept her shoes on this entire time.

Michal was not one to lie to himself, so he openly admitted that walking into this party after it had so obviously started hours ago was an... interesting visual experience. Interesting, yes, that was a word to use. Judgement worthy, also, was an appropriate word to use. It wasn't something that particularly struck him as he walked, it was just... the general atmosphere. And the fact that half of these people here had matches tomorrow, that was also noteworthy.

So... excellent! He was glad he had decided to drop by, and witness first had the beginning of wrecks on the pitch tomorrow. If he felt himself to be heavily invested in this venture, Michal would have sought out a Magpie, but someone else had called him here, making her much more important than an hysterical, albeit potentially tragic, memory to look back on.

Now thinking back to Therese, Michal realized he had no bloody idea where she would be. Or even if she was still here. Seth had mentioned he would be here tonight as well, so he supposed he could find him and ask... but that would lead to questions Michal simply did not feel like dealing with, even coming from his best friend.

That probably had something to do with that Michal purposely left out all things related to Therese Bonaccord when he spoke with Seth. Eh, there was a time and a place for everything.

After some searching, and witnessing things that were just plain confusing, he finally found her. Sitting. Well, that was a good sign, he supposed. Michal Conway approached Therese casually, as if it was nothing new.

"Mustaches, really?" he asked skeptically, though the grin forming on his face was giving him away. She was amusing. As was these theme.

She'd been quite focused on the game of cards going on in front of her. Drunken Exploding Snap was literally the worst idea ever. Therese wasn't sure of the rules, but there was a lot of screaming and cards bursting into flames and lots, and lots, of shots of purple sparking drinks. She was about to ask the bloke who seemed to be winning (as he was still standing while his opponent held himself up on the other side of the table with his chin) how to play, when someone stepped in her line of vision.

"Michal Conway!" she let out, throwing her hands up in surprise and excitement. Her drink had thankfully been put down a moment earlier, mustache straw and all. Therese jumped to her feet, expertly staying upright on her heels. Happy, somewhat intoxicated Therese, could manage these sort of shoes with no problem; it was when she drowned her sorrows at a dingy jazz club that her pumps were the bane of her existence. Tonight was one of those good nights, fortunately, and she wasted no time in throwing her arms around Michal to greet him properly with a hug and kiss.

He came! He was probably going to come on his own accord, if he felt like it, but she'd asked him to come and he'd come! Two hours later, but he was here! Therese kept her arms over his shoulders, letting herself lean dangerously close to him, though her eyes were bouncing all over. She wanted to show him everything!

"There are so many mustaches, big ones, small ones," she said, marveling, "and there's a green drink that tastes like watermelon and summer, but it makes your fingers tingle and feel like sparks are going to fly out of them it's really good."

His brow shot up, and admittedly Michal was so surprised by Therese's reaction to him that his eyes stayed open when she kissed him. And hugged him. And continued to lean on him. Not that her actions weren't welcome, no, he enjoyed them (and actually found them quiet entertaining), it was just not something he had been expecting. Considering the atmosphere, it shouldn't have been that shocking.

It was just glaringly obvious that he was not drunk, wasn't it?

An amused smile played on his lips regardless, and Michal placed one of his arms across her back. While she could most certainly stand on her own, it would help alleviate the pressure from his neck and shoulders. Yes, 'alleviate' the 'pressure.'

"Wow," was all he could respond with in a serious tone, despite his word being drawn out dangerously enough to be perceived as sarcastic. Michal pursed his lips and smiled again. "I had no idea they had that drink here." He was teasing her, now, he couldn't help it. It was too easy. It was in his blood!

Michal shook his head, "That sounds great."

"It is great," Therese responded quickly with a purse of her lips and a twist of her shoulders to show that she was not perturbed by his teasing tone. She was not too intoxicated to miss his patented sarcasm, but she'd had just enough to be thoroughly amused by it and giggle at the joke. Her fingers began to play with the hair at the base of his neck. "It is so great that I may have just finished my fourth."

Therese grinned a guilty grin. She was feeling good, and not just tonight. Remy had stopped bothering her, she felt some sort of relief after she'd been spoken to by Colette in the lift (and after she had her nervous dye-her-hair-blonde mental breakdown), and now there was someone in her life who wasn't overwhelming and genuinely liked being around her. She believed. Therese was pretty sure that Michal Conway Lynch never did a thing he didn’t want to do, and it made her happy that she was one of those things----in a non-sexual way! Most of the time!

Her fingers made their way to his very strong jawline, “How would you look with a beard?” she mused, and then she answered her own question without waiting for a response, “Probably very handsome still.”

Therese’s eyes lit up with a smile, “I’m really glad you came.”

A beard? Michal scrunched his face slightly at the thought. While he was most certainly all about upholding the most leisure lifestyle possible, facial hair had never crossed his mind as being necessary. Perhaps maybe once or twice in the winter during a particularly cold match, but aside from that... he shook his head. He had it on good authority that most women did in fact not like facial hair, that was all he needed to know.

Not that it really mattered, this internal conversation he was having with himself. Who was acting drunk now?

"Very good, yes, but it would aggravate you," he responded, taking both his hands to show what he meant; he rubbed them slightly on the sides of her face near her mouth. Grinning, Michal dropped his hands again, and eventually they came to linger at her waist.

Michal realized, very quickly, that it would be a real shame and just a plain waste to not take advantage of her current state. Thinking himself to be smart, he decided that he would really enjoy more informational, arsenal-building sentences from her. And if whatever came out of her mouth had the potential for hysterical trips down memory lane later, then so be it. He was willing to take that chance.

"Yeah? How glad?" he asked, moving one of his hands again to push a chunk of Therese's straying hair out of her face.

Yes, the bristles would bother her. Therese pulled a face as she muttered about the prickles, and that prickles was a funny word, so she repeated it a few times because after saying it twice, it suddenly did not sound like a word. Prickle? Where would a word like that even come from? It was only used to describe irritating things, so maybe it was just the roughest sounding word that wouldn't be too offensives to those prickly things it gave a description to.

Far, far too much thought was put into that, but Michal Conway's fingers grazing her cheek snapped her back into the reality of the moment. They had probably only been standing here for five minutes, but she had felt no urge to move from the spot, she was rooted to the ground and her arms locked around him. Hours could pass and Therese would probably be fine with standing there, talking and teasing him, getting teased by him. She enjoyed their repertoire, which was hard to find these days, but she decided she would rather not spend her time with him simply standing, talking, and staring.

"How glad? While I could stare at you for hours," she said, not realizing that much of her inner dialogue had been slipping out and off her tongue, "I am willing to sacrifice any more time spent at this party by leaving to find a more intimate setting."

Her eyes crinkled in mischief, and she let out a small gasp and patted his back, "I'll even keep myself from forcing a fake mustache on you." Therese nodded, her lips twisted into a smirk that showed she was impressed with herself, "Impressive, I know."
