Axe's Anniversary of Birth!!!!
Charlie was pretty sure he'd missed out on a wonderful career as a party planner. As he stared out at the dance floor, which he stood over on a platform where the DJ was spinning a mix of wizard and muggle music (even with some popular French songs that were actually pretty catchy if Charlie said so himself). He wasn't surprised at how many people showed up, but it still nearly startling to see how bloody happy everyone was to be there! Sure, some looked ridiculous with the fake mustaches that were passed out (not required, obviously), but a lot had actually grown out their beards and it was----cool, they tried, they wanted to be there and they wanted to have a good time. Charlie wanted to have a good time.

The Kestrels were not top of the pack, and while he believed in his team completely, the stress of the numbers had been getting to them. A night like this was necessary, and maybe it could rejuvenate the team that had lost some valuable members this season and had done a bit of shifting around. They were still trying to get themselves into place, and it needed to happen faster than it was.

Plus, Axe had been pissy all week that no one had acknowledged the anniversary of his birth.

Charlie grabbed the mic from the DJ and grinned, enjoying colorful scene laid out in front of him. funkybuddha club had been a perfect choice for the night, "Don't everyone tire themselves out! There's still a lot more festivites to look forward to!"

Tristan had never been a fan of big parties like this, really, if only because there was such a potential for things to go wrong -- and also because by arriving here, he was going to be in the Tattler tomorrow. Oh, he didn't have any illusions about that -- but it did make him even more careful than he might've been before. He had Psyke to think about, and he'd hate for her to be embarrassed by him in-person or later, on paper.

That's why he's leaning against the bar, casually sipping at a shirley temple. It's tasty, he can drink a lot of them without his teeth feeling all fuzzy, and most people just assumed that it had some sort of alcohol in it. The best drink to monitor a crowd with, Tristan thought. The problem with being one of the few sober people at a place like this was that it was almost physically painful to watch some of the blokes around him, flirting with women who barely remembered their own names -- and still managing to strike out.

At least he'd always had his good looks going for him in that department. He'd be the first to admit that he wasn't great at 'bar talk' -- but fortunately, that wasn't something she needed to think about right now.

After Wendy went off to take a break, Psyke decided that she too should probably get off the dance floor, but she really wasn't happy about it. She wouldn't be able to walk around in a dress like this, or heels this high, or even be able to stay up past nine o'clock for much longer. She couldn't even drink. Why had she thought it would be a great idea to get off her contraception potions? Huh? Why? WHY?

Right. She wanted to make little Tristan babies.

Psyke sulked off the dance floor in search of her husband. She really was excited about being pregnant, but the news was still rather fresh in her head. Very, very fresh, as in she'd just taken the test and found the results out when Tristan knocked on the door to tell her that Lavender's sitter for the night was there, and that they should go. Psyke had just shoved the test down the sink and followed her husband out, ready to put the surprise to the back of her head for the night. She would tell him tomorrow, over breakfast, after everything had settled in her head. First, she wanted to dance.

When she finally found Tristan, her demeanor automatically picked up. Maybe she shouldn't feel so distraught at the news. Having a baby was a good thing, just look at her LavLav! Psyke just didn't want to be pregnant, that's the part that sucked. Maybe it would be different, at least this time she had figured it out in an appropriate amount of time.

"Is there alcohol in this?" she asked Tristan, taking the drink out of his hand and giving it a sniff.

At least Psyke seemed like she was enjoying herself. It wasn't every day that they got out like this, even though they both had social obligations -- there was always Lavender to consider, and he'd felt a little bad leaving her at home even now. Still, it was good to have the both of them relaxed. When Psyke wandered over, he immediately curled his arm around her waist and leaned in to kiss her cheek.

When she pulled the drink from his hand, though, he just laughed and rubbed the back of his neck with his free hand.

"Nope, it's 100% clean. I didn't want to risk having to try and recall details of my evening -- or even worse, having to try and explain someone else's evening to them without being sure of it."

"Oh good," Psyke said, quickly downing the drink. It wasn't a bad thing, it was a good thing, a Tristan baby? Definitely a good thing. He or she would probably have the best hair in the world, and dimples, and quite possibly be born as a Greek God or Goddess or something like that. They'd have to shade their eyes to avoid being blinded by the baby's beauty.

She should've found out the sex, but Psyke had been far too bewildered to even think that far in advance. Just being pregnant would need some time to sink in; she had the rest of her life to figure out what the hell to do with two girls---or worse, a boy.

A very handsome, good boy, of course, but a boy nonetheless.

Psyke leaned back on the bar counter, giving her husband the once over. She needed to make this a happy thing, for Tristan. She couldn't just angrily blurt that she was pregnant, because she wasn't angry, she was just. Just not looking forward to the next nine months. Maybe she could buy a time turner...they had to sell those somewhere, right?

Then, she got an idea. Psyke took Tristan's hand, pulling out a bar stool and started to climb.

"Help me up!" she said, a devious grin on her face.

Tristan would be the first person to let her know that a time turner probably didn't carry her forward past the pregnancy, since she'd have to still experience the time passing in order for it to exist -- or he would if he was good at explaining that sort of thing. As it was, though, he blinked as she downed the drink and let out a soft laugh. Well, apparently he was going to be asking for a refill.

As she started to climb up the bar stool, he was tempted to ask her whether she'd just drank the rest of his mocktail because she needed to dilute the liquor that was currently in her system. It was one of the only reasons he could think of that he would ever be motivated to climb up onto the bar (although Psyke asking him to join her would probably be a very easy way for her to get him into that situation) of his own accord.

He did as instructed, though, helping to hoist her up with a grin on his face. He couldn't help leaning in to kiss her lips briefly before he allowed her to finish up her climb.

"You're in a better mood than some of the drunks, -- that's quite the feat!"

Psyke grinned down at him, her view from on top of the bar quite nice, "And I haven't had a single drink!"

She definitely had a good reason for being on top of the counter, and for a split second it reminded her of her partying days, where being up on the bar meant that shots were soon to be taken off of her stomach, stage dives into the crowd were going to occur, and she would end up in some bloke's bed without any idea of what his name was. What a different life that seemed like. Psyke couldn't recognize the woman she used to be, and she had two wonderful men to thank for that.

"Attention!" she shouted, gathering the gaze of those around the bar. The bartender clinked some of the bottles and a few followed, and soon Psyke had a rather big audience. Well, it was a good thing that she was used to being the center of attention of a room. She put her hands on her hips, standing proud and looking rather smug. She had every reason to be.

"I would like to announce," she said, gesturing toward Tristan, "that Tristan Bardera is going to be a father. You've got seven and a half months to prepare yourselves for his or her debut."

Psyke let out a laugh, blushing with excitement as she looked down for her husband's reaction.

He was glad to hear that she hadn't had anything to drink, honestly, because it meant that he wasn't the only one here who could be pegged as a stick in the mud. This was part of the reason that he loved her, though -- she was so vibrant, even when she wasn't high on anything other than her own steam. Once Psyke was back up on the bar and she'd gathered an audience, Tristan looked on with attention just as rapt as the people around him who he was sure were pleased to see such a celebrity at this party.

The words that came out of her mouth as she motioned to him, though, took a few moments to sink in. He wasn't the sort to be put off by the news, they had such a good thing going right now that a baby would just make it even more amazing -- and once it had sunk in, he preformed his own stool leap-and-hop onto the bar to pull her into his arms and press kisses over her cheeks and lips.

"We are having a baby! Well, you are having a baby! But I helped."
