Scarlett's lips pursed as she determined who it was that had sidled up beside her. Broadmoor, former Kestrel, current captain of the Wigtown Wanderers. It took her a moment to remember his first name and after that was settled in his head she took a quick glance over to ensure that he was indeed speaking to her. She'd heard all of these lines before. Scarlett had only allowed her publicist to accept this invitation for her because she had
believed that this was a somewhat somber affair, and that blokes wouldn't be trying to hit on you while getting a beverage. She should have known better than to give male species the benefit of the doubt.
She blinked slowly at him, wondering if she should even bother with a response. He had been dating her friend Felicia Bulstrode last year and had ended things quite poorly; while her friend was good at taking things in stride, Scarlett held fast onto grudges and Kendall most certainly had earned one from her.
Letting out a breath, Scarlett looked back down at her drink and realized that she still had to manage at least another hour here at the event, and dealing with Broadmoor's advances might give her an excuse to leave early.
"Just a moment," she said before taking a drink.
