She exhaled a couple heavy breaths and leaned back into the wall as it felt like a heavy weight had been applied to her shoulders. Rose's gaze dropped, thinking at least she would need to focus on something as mundane as the floor to help her think, but even that proved unhelpful. So, instead, she tilted her head back and looked up at the dark ceiling.

But doing so proved to be just as useless, for she realized she didn't feel confused about her feelings or him, but simply torn between wanting what she wanted and knowing better. She liked Axe, he had surprised her in many different ways over the past few weeks that had only led to a full-fledged, steadily blossoming affection. But, with that came the entanglements of reality, and other people, and... it was a struggle to discern... if it would be worth the risk of...

Rose had pulled her hands back in an attempt to dislodge herself from him, but they now felt heavy and uncomfortable at her sides, out of reach from him. So, despite knowing it unwise, they made their way back to Axe's neck, but in a much gentler fashion and grip than before. Her fingers picked up to brush lightly along the edge of his hairline.

"Well maybe if we can keep this quiet, then... " Rose hesitated, not knowing how to finish that thought. Then what? Perpetually hide this relationship from-- Thomas, it was only ever her concern about Thomas. She knew he loathed Axe, even if he insisted otherwise, so she couldn't begin to imagine how wildly unwell he would take any news concerning them being a... them. And, because it was unavoidable, with being back in Great Britain, her thoughts fumbled to Octavius. They hadn't seen each other since November, yet the mere thought of him propelled her into loosening, then eventually dropping her hands from Axe altogether again, along with making her chest ache painfully. After everything that had happened, she couldn't... do that to him.

Frowning deeply now, her hands went to rub the back of her neck, eventually pulling together under her chin. "I don't want to stay away from you," Rose said slowly, surprisingly keeping a cool, unheated face despite such a timid declaration. "But.."
