Delilah Jane Spinnet ([info]takeyoudown) wrote in [info]valesco,
Delilah was so done with being sick, she almost threw away the advert for the Charity Dinner at first sight. That stupid virus had stolen a month and a half of her life and she didn't want to spare it another thought. She would donate, of course, because at least she didn't die while in Istanbul, but going to a dinner? No that was to much.

Or so she thought. Just as she was about to toss the paper, she caught the list of names of those who passed. Delilah read it three times before she collapsed into the nearest chair. Her mouth dried as the realization that she had not read wrong dawned on her. She had always intended to go fix things with Scott. Although, they would never really be fixed but, Delilah had really cared for him, more than her actions ever showed and she hated how things were left. She had always hoped that one day, she could truly and sincerely apologize to him and make things right.

Now she would never have that opportunity. She supposed she really didn't deserve it either.

There was no way that Delilah could sit at home and not attend the event. She didn't say anything while she got ready, or during the dinner, in fact she had almost been in a stunned silence since finding out, only responding to her brothers' direct questions.

So when she caught Rich's eyes, Delilah wasn't sure what to do. She reached up to twirl the ends of her hair between her fingers before remembering that she had pinned it up for the evening. After an awkward moment of trying to figure out what to do with her hands, she settled for twisting her fingers together. She hadn't spoken to him since before she left for Istanbul. And then she got sick, and Nora confiscated her journal, which she hadn't yet bothered with. Then she was all about catching up with Charlie, and now there was the fact Scott was dead. She had been home for a couple weeks now, and she hadn't realized that she had forgotten Rich until he was standing in front of her.

What was she suppose to say to him? Considering the circumstances, it felt awkward for her to be with him. Even if he was her boyfriend. That she had forgotten about, again. "Hello," she offered quietly looking around the room. What was she doing with her life? She couldn't just keep leading these boys around like she did. Just look what happened to Scott. The virus certainly wasn't her fault but everything she put him through before that sure was. "I didn't realize you were coming-- I mean-- well--" She wrung her hands desperate for the words to come to her. "Hi."
