Rich canted his head and watched Delilah with knowing concern. She never responded to well to being emotionally put on the spot, which he didn't mean to be doing, but he realized that was exactly what his presence was doing to her. He didn't understand why him being there was making her squirm, but he saw that look in her eyes, the guilt-ridden one with hints of fear and attempted strength. Rich had seen that look before, and he hadn't enjoyed seeing her fret then, either.
"Let's get some air," he quietly suggested with a duck of his eyes and slight frown. For once, though, Rich didn't just hope Delilah would follow his lead or take it on her own. As Rich passed her, he looked up through his lashes to her face before he reached out and took her fingers for a tender squeeze. He held onto her hand and waited for her to move with him so they could go outside, not necessarily to talk, but to simply get away from everyone else.
