She had to sit down upon Holly Troy's unveiling of Thomas' last twelve hours, and Rose found that she was too far stunned to do much else than continue to sit after the story was over.

Thomas had been...

But then last night when...

And now he was...

Rose looked up at Holly with desperate eyes, wishing very much that there was more for her to tell, a better ending to leave off at for this almost unbelievable tale. It felt like fiction in her ears, the entire thing, and if this morning hadn't turned so strangely so fast, Rose wouldn't have believed it. All of it, from the idea of Thomas having a secret pregnant girlfriend to being frozen in Nott Manor as an almost stranger informed her and Kendall that their best friend was now a single father to a premature child felt... it felt...

It felt like she and Kendall were on the outside looking in to this whole other world Thomas had created for himself, and it was only through a tragic string of events that they were included now.

And then, immediately, Rose felt guilty for her thoughts, for now, out of all times, was not about that. It was about helping navigate her friend, her very best friend, through something that she could quite certainly say the three of them never thought they would have to face in their lifetimes. It was about ensuring Thomas would come back from this, helping him return to as much as his former self as possible. Was that possible? She didn't... she wasn't sure about much of anything at the moment.

Holly had escorted them to Thomas' room, and it was with a wary glance at Kendall that Rose raised her hand to knock on the door.

"Thomas?"

She spoke softly, pressing closer to the door only when there was no response. Her free arm clutched her opposite elbow, her back curled in a wounded manner. "It's us," Rose continued, her brow permanently furrowed. "May we come in?" It was entirely formal, of course, because all three of them knew she and Kendall were going to barge on in regardless of Thomas' wishes, but they always played this game.

She? The baby was a girl?

Rose's heart, which was already in the process of breaking in half, burst open upon this small slip of Thomas', the most insignificant of news when all things considered. Thomas with a girl-- he had a little baby girl? Her eyes immediately began to water, and Rose struggled to keep her composure.

She had seated herself across from Kendall, sitting opposite of Thomas' side. But now that was not enough, and Rose quickly moved to sit before Thomas, facing him despite his deep determination to look everywhere but at them. She couldn't blame him. But it was important that he knew they were here to help.

Her hand crept to Thomas' shoulder, and even though she wanted to grip it tightly, use it to pull him close, Rose kept her distance. "We will come with you," she spoke gently, dipping her chin as well in an attempt to crane her neck and get Thomas to look at her. When it was no use, her hand inched up toward Thomas' face, her fingers prickling the parts of his cheek that was uncovered by his own hands.

"Kendall and I will come with you. And then, if you want, we can owl Danielle about moving the baby to Mungo's. You can tell us the--" her voice hitched for a moment, briefly feeling caught before continuing "-- story that I'm sure is not stupid."

How else could she say how desperate this made her feel? For Thomas to let them in, for her to allow them to help, to... to help fix this situation. There was magic, there was always magic something could be done.

Rose extended her other arm out across the bed, turning her open palm out for Kendall to grasp. She looked at him sadly. "Right, Kendall?"

Kendall sat up at the mention of being a god parent. Godfather to a baby girl, he could barely wrap his head around it. Around any of this. If you had asked him just last week, he would have been positive none of them were ready to marry, let alone raise a child.

Now, within the span of five minutes Kendall had learned that his best friend had a girl, lost his girl and now was going to be a single father all in one fell swoop. "Don't apologize," Kendall said blanching slightly at his words. That Thomas thought it was necessary to even do so in such a situation. "If anything is stupid, its you thinking you have to apologize to us for anything."

He placed his hand on Thomas' shoulder as he finally pulled his attention off the floor and onto his best friend. "Whatever you need, we're here for you, but first we should--- have you eaten anything since last night? We'll get something on the way."

"Then you can take us and introduce us to--" Kendall paused realizing that he didn't know the little girl's name. He wasn't even sure if Thomas had the chance to name her. "Introduce us to your little girl, if you want to." The baby had to be fine, he decided while trying to convince Thomas that moving might be a good idea. Any child related to Thomas had to be a fighter. McCormacks were stubborn and there was no way Kendall was going to accept Thomas taking another major loss in such little time.
