Kendall!
"They'll be here."

The words were spat at the persistent waitress who kept asking her if she was sure her guests were going to arrive. It seemed that her accent became more pronounced when she was agitated, but she had good reason to be annoyed. Anya Kalinnikov was not the kind of woman who tolerated being forgotten about, and it seemed as though not one but two men had decided their lunch meeting was not important enough to remember. Kevin Broadmoor had arranged this meeting, wanting to discuss 'her career and where she saw herself with the Falcons this upcoming year'; his words exactly. He told her his brother would also be joining them, so she had anticipated something big. For two members of management to want to meet with her, it had to be something good, right? They would be fools to decide she was no longer a fit for the team, especially since she had earned herself the spot of captain for the Russians in the World Cup. That was nothing to sneeze at, and she had actually gotten a little excited to sit down and share her thoughts.

As far as she was concerned, she would have made an amazing captain for the Falcons. She had the experience, and had the determination needed to produce results. She thought maybe this meeting would end with them toasting in celebration of some good news - hell, even a raise would have been nice - but instead, she was left sitting alone at a table in the middle of the fancy Italian restaurant. She had arrived early, and they just...they didn't even send an owl to let her know they would be late.

She had been sitting there for over an hour, and she was certain she looked quite pathetic sitting there, fiddling with the napkin in her lap. She frowned, though she eventually let out a sigh before leaning forward to rest her head in her hands.

This was so embarrassing...

Her jaw clenched a bit as he shared his opinion, her line of vision falling from making direct eye contact with him. She might have gotten defensive if he wasn't saying what she had been feeling for quite some time. That was what was really getting to her. She barely knew Kendall, and yet he was hitting the nail on the head. She was definitely starting to feel as though she were being taken for granted, but had never voiced how she felt. She reached out for her glass, taking a sip of the cool water she had the waitress bring earlier.

You deserve better.

Those olive eyes, speckled with hues of gold and honey, lifted to meet the bright blues of the man who was trying to convince her that playing for the Falcons might not be the best idea if she had plans to further her career. Again he was speaking aloud things she had never mentioned to anyone else; she thought she was just being irrational. She did have a tendency to do that, especially when she felt she deserved something.

"Are you saying that I could be where I want to be in my career with the Wanderers, Mister Broadmoor?" She asked with a laugh. She was sure he hated being called that, but since he was speaking like a business man, she would address him like one. "You fail to see how this could be...problematic. See, you are the person who would be in the way of what it is I really want." She pushed her shoulders forward a bit, making the conversation a bit more intimate. "I do deserve more; I want more. And I like getting what I want."

Kendall managed not to make a face at being called Mister Broadmoor, he didn't like it, but it wasn't the first time he's had to deal with it. And her laugh didn't throw him off either, as he was almost expecting it. Instead he just smiled at Anya, taking a sip of his own water. "I fail to see nothing. I know exactly what you want. I'm not giving up my captianship, but at the same time, I'm not going to lie about it, or leave you sitting alone all while toying with your hopes and dreams." Kendall put his glass, leaning in slightly. "And besides all that, I never said it was with the Wanderers, just that it wasn't going to be with the Falcons."

He sat up straight again as their food arrived, breaking what ever sort of tension that was building. Stabbing a fork into his food, Kendall tried to figure out just what he was doing. This all started as just being nice, saving Anya from having to suffer the embarrassment of being stood up. And now here he was trying to convince her to come to the Wanderers, or at the very least leave the Falcons? It bothered him they way the Falcons were run, that was nothing new, but he had never tried to undermine the team in such a way.

But then again if you are going to leave the Russian World Cup Captain sitting alone at a table for hours, you were just asking for someone to come and steal her away. "I am being rude." He said finally, looking up to Anya. "I'm sorry, I really don't have much of a right to sit here telling you what you should do with your career. For all I know the Falcons could suit you just fine, even without being Captain."

He took a bite of his lunch, chewing thoughtfully for a moment before speaking up again. "How about we discuss the World Cup instead? How excited are you to be leading Russian team in the greatest tournament of the game?"
