Savannah
Seth had spent the rest of his practice after his exchange with Savannah in a constant state of annoyance. He was sure that she hadn't meant it the way it sounded, but the words still settled under his skin. If your brother says nothing will fall apart, I trust that it won't. Well she hadn't just agreed to marry Henry, now did she? Seth knew that he had a lot to make up for, he had dug a pretty deep hole their first marriage, but he couldn't help but have hoped that her saying yes to his proposal meant that she trusted him.

He couldn't go back to having the first reaction being what did you do. And he certainly didn't want his wife relying on his brother to talk him out of doing things he shouldn't. By the time he made it over to Savannah's flat, Seth had managed to let go of most of his frustrations determined to talk this out as a level headed adult. If they had any hopes of their relationship to work, Seth had to know Savannah trusted him and his judgement. He knocked on the door as he let himself in, "Savannah?"

"You make it sound like you don't trust me either." He said more like a passing thought than something that had bugged him the entire day. He understood her concern, he didn't trust the Tattler either, but he couldn't help but feel a little bit insulted at how she voiced her concern.

"Savannah I love you more than anything, I'd do anything for you, but if your first response to me saying there is something we need to talk about is 'What did you do?', has anything really changed?" Seth's chest tightened at his own words, desperately wishing them to be unnecessary. "If this is going to work, I need to know that you trust me, and not just trust that my brother will keep me from doing something stupid."

Seth pulled Savannah's hand into his own, looking down at the ring on her finger. "This is about you and me. We're a team, and if we have to be able to rely on one another."

Savannah cringed when he explained how her words made him feel, and she subconsciously dropped her chin to show she wasn’t proud of the fact that she had put such a bad taste in his mouth. When he reached out for her hand, she squeezed his, hoping she would be able to rectify this. “I do trust you,” she assured him, though she knew that wouldn’t be enough. “I wouldn’t have agreed to marry you if I didn’t…and trust isn’t exactly something that comes easily for me. I’m sorry I made you doubt that.” And she really was, though she paused and rolled her lips under, trying to choose her next words. She didn’t want this to turn into a fight either, but they definitely had to talk about this. In order to truly work together as a team, they needed to communicate.

“I didn’t mean to automatically assume you had done something, but telling me I should probably tell Sam and Carys ‘sooner rather than later’ seemed a bit suspect. I can’t imagine what kind of stress you’re feeling while trying to get ready for the world cup, but I’ve just been so tightly wound lately and I hate it. People are supposed to be excited to announce their engagement, but I know that the people whose opinion matter most to me aren’t going to be happy for us, and the thought makes me want to cry. I’ve been preparing myself for the worst possible reactions, so when you said that, I jumped to conclusions, and I shouldn’t have. And as for what I said about Henry, all I meant was that he’s always given you the best advice when you ask for it. You trust he’ll tell you the right thing, and try and steer you in the right direction whenever you don’t know which direction to go, so is it wrong for me to do the same..?”

She reached out for his other hand. “I’d follow you to the end of the world. I don’t know what else I can say to make you believe that, so I hope you do. I don’t want us to start doubting each other.”
