WORLD CUP PARTY!

Champions of the world. That's all there was really to say, wasn't it?

Charlie took in a long breath of the cool New York air, admiring the party that was being thrown for team Ireland. Them, being thrown for them! Holly was a riot, capturing pictures with everyone and demanding certain poses. Caden Flint was smiling, smiling from ear to ear! He and Saoirse had even danced for a song or two, or three, it was that kind of night. It felt like his entire life had led up to today's match, to this night.

He made his way to the bar, raising his hand to the bartender to bring him another round. Tomorrow was his last day in New York, and he meant to celebrate this night like it should be. Charlie slid onto the bar stool and shook some hands with passersby as he waited for his drink. It was really something, being part of the best team in the world---it hadn't sunk in, and he didn't think that it was something that would for a long time.

His foot knocked into the person sitting beside him as he turned back to the bar. Charlie grinned sheepishly, "Whoops, sorry."

ooc: Open to all participants of the World Cup, their friends, family, and guests!!

SETH

Despite believing it very important, Michal found himself pressed to remember what, exactly, had happened to make him feel so disgruntled towards Seth. It had just been a feeling, a state of mind in which he felt justified in whatever petty acts pleased him, but failed at specifically remembering.... what they had been fighting about this time. Just that it was very important and near to his heart.

Michal had just sucked in his bottom lip sourly, immediately thinking it must have been concerning his sister (whom had taken it upon herself to travel all the way out here for the final match to spend "quality time", as she had put it), when a specific image appeared before him, darkening his dazed gaze.

Ah. Yes.

Now he remembered.

The wife. His wife. Ex-wife? Future wife. Perpetual wife? For all Michal knew Seth had married Savannah Davies again already. The image of them intertwined made him want to gag, and out of simple reflex he stood up a bit straighter and took the time to swing a deep drink from his cup.

Right? Where were the legions of his new friends? Glaring at Seth warily out of the corner of his eye, Michal tilted his chin up to look about the roves of unfamiliar faces. For as many as he knew many here, there were still a great deal unfamiliar. He just hoped he found one quickly.

Seth was not feeling nearly as bitter as he expected considering the lost to Ireland. The World Cup within reach, and just as quickly lost. The game had been a good one though, he was a big enough man to accept that he had lost. It also helped that it didn't take long for Savannah to swoop in after the loss and distract him. He could even admit he was enjoying the party despite losing.

There was no mistaking him and Savannah were a couple, if there were any doubts they would be gone by morning with how they stood. Seth was just laughing a joke when he caught sight of Michal sending a glare his way. He supposed he had put this off long enough. He couldn't stay annoyed at his best friend forever. Even if he was being a prat about his engagement. The engagement that a total of maybe four people knew about. That basically put Michal at family status, and the prick was was being a git about it.

But then again, Seth really wasn't friends with him for his charm. Kissing Savannah on the forehead, he excused himself to go off and make amends for whichever grievous error Michal concocted. "How's the librarian?" Seth asked leaning against the bar next to his friend. Of course he noticed, he may have been a bit wrapped up in other things, but there was no way Michal spending time with Chandler Midgen would go on unnoticed. Especially with the show he was putting on about it. "Do you have a new bond that outshines all the fairytales?"

"Peachy," Michal retorted immediately. Was he interested that Seth had approached him? No, of course not. He was currently looking the other way, wasn't he? Feigning the coolest of aloofness, Michal casually turned his head to look over his shoulder, his gaze beholding Seth only by pure happenstance.

When was the last time they had spoken? As Michal zoned in on what he could only assume was the beginning foundations of crow's feet, he realized... this was the first time in over a month that he and Seth were having a conversation. Or seeing each other, for that matter. Actually seeing each other, being in the other's presence, for while Larkin had dragged him to one of England's matches, Michal didn't really think could really count.

He frowned, for a brief moment, disliking the taste of that realization left in his mouth. Over the years, it hadn't really been... Michal quickly shook that thought from his mind, specifically remembering one other time in the past years that he and Seth had gone so long without daily contact.

"Why?" Michal eventually spoke, resting his drink down on the table. His brows went up high. "Does it make you jealous?"

"Oh, extremely." Seth attempted to muster up some sincerity, but he was falling short. He had given Michal his time to pout, now it was time to sort out what the real issue was. "Soon you'll be reading books and using words to big for me to understand, and I won't know what to do."

Seth some how managed to keep a straight face as he said it, though he was already tempted to grin. Yes, it had been too long since they had spoken, and even though Michal was mad at him, it was easy to fall back into the witty banter. He had just played in the World Cup final, he was starting to plan a wedding with the love of his life and he couldn't even remember the last time his brother was legitimately mad at him. All things considered, things were going great.

Except Michal wasn't speaking to him. Because he was seemingly mad about something that made him extremely happy. "Who knew I was so easily replaced. You on the other hand," Seth shrugged a shoulder. "Well I'm not sure a person a exists that could fill the role of pain in my ass quite like you do."

Michal grunted in response. While he would experience great satisfaction in making Seth feel like an idiot, Michal knew his few short get togethers with bookish Chandler Midgen would not have miraculously increased his scholarly aptitude. His smarts laid in strategic placement and quick-action decisions, not.... words that most-greatly described...

Maybe he could stand to read a little bit more. If anything to prove Seth wrong within his own thoughts.

He did enjoy proving Seth wrong.

Leaning more over his shoulder, Michal turned a bit more to face Seth. Though, not to seem too open to the idea of being interested in anything Seth had to say, Michal kept most of his back and shoulder facing him.

"Maybe if you had a twin," Michal drawled, suddenly deciding that yes, if another Seth Wadcock existed, he would fill the roll of pain the ass quite nicely. He was, after all, such a prime example of it now.

"The world couldn't handle there being two of me, and you know it" Seth quipped not even bothering to entertain the idea. Though having someone to tag team up on Henry in school with would have been fun.

He was tempted to wait Michal out. Just continue to stand here and make stupid jokes until his friend finally fessed up what was wrong with him. Except Seth knew exactly what was wrong. Well at least the basis of it anyways. Michal took some sort of issue with him being back with Savannah.

And that bothered Seth a great deal. Out of all people, Michal should be happy for him. He was his best friend, and the reaction he got when announcing his engagement should not have been the one he got. It annoyed Seth enough that he could have very easily gone on ignoring him in favor of his fiance, but Seth knew if he did that, they may never speak again. As stubborn as the two of them were.

Seth could not stand to lose his best friend, therefore, he had to do something.

He swirled the ice in his glass before setting it down on the table and giving Michal his full attention. "So, are you going to tell me why you hate Savannah, or do I have to guess?"

Michal suddenly sat up, feeling indignant.

He didn't hate Savannah. If he were to meet Savanah Davies on the street, Michal would think her perfectly fit and attempt bringing her home, only to realize that she was one of those few birds you didn't waste a one-night encounter on. No, he hated what Seth became with Savannah. Or, more accurately, what he didn't become, because how could Michal complain about his best friend when he wasn't around to witness it? Last time around, his friendship with Seth had ceased to exist. It had been all 'Oh I eloped, oh I have a child, oh Montrose Magpies, or at least that was what Michal had begrudgingly overhead and deduced with time. So was it so wrong to be unenthused about returning to that? Not having his best friend anymore?

Michal frowned. He didn't like that everything was changing again, that again he felt like being blindsided, and again that everyone was getting married. Again. Again! He himself was barely thinking about marriage, and here his friends were... Michal closed his eyes, and let his head hang low between his shoulders for a moment.

"I don't hate Savannah," Michal grumbled suddenly, speaking under his breath. He opened his eyes again, and looked at Seth out of the corner of his eye. Letting out a short sigh, he spoke again, "I never said that."

Seth was on the verge of responding when Spinnet shoved his way up to the bar making a snide remark about winning the cup. He glowered in acknowledgement, waiting until the Irish Keeper turned his attention to the bartender before rolling his eyes. He hope silently he choked on his beer.

"Well, you don't have to say it." Seth continued once bartender was taking Spinnet's order. "What else am I suppose to think with how you've been acting this past month. Either you hate my choice in fiancee, or you're not the friend I thought you were."

He stared down into his drink. What else could he say? He didn't want to fight with Michal. He didn't want Michal to be upset with him just because he decided to marry his ex. "You're suppose to be helping me plan things, or rather help me not go insane while she plans everything."

Had Michal noticed Charlie's arrival in time, he would have stuck his foot out to ensure a tumbling Spinnet into the bar top. But, alas, all he found himself able of doing was aid Seth in glowering at the younger Keeper until he turned away to mind his own bloody business. One World Cup win and he thought himself the king of the world. Michal rolled his eyes.

And then, Michal rolled his eyes again, this time at Seth.

"Yeah, well---" Michal began, but found that he wasn't sure what to respond with. He could tell Seth that was a dramatic assumption, neither choice proving to be true. Or, he supposed, he could tell the truth about his looming thoughts, but that didn't... that felt too difficult to state so openly. What other option did that leave? Stalking off? Michal's brow darkened as he thought he didn't... while the easiest option, that wouldn't get his best friend back, would it? And, why bother to fight and grasp for something that he knew was soon coming to an end?

Visibly torn, Michal sought for something, anything to respond with. "Well," he tried again, letting his shoulders raise up to his neck. He extended his palms up toward the sky. "Well---" His nose scrunched and Michal pressed his lips together in a bothered manner. "You're supposed to think---"

Unceremoniously, Michal stood up. His face twisted as he tried to, very desperately, piece together some kind of fleeting words. But, nothing came to him, and Michal found himself blabbering much more than he liked. "You can't get married!" he let out finally, throwing his hands up in defeat. "It was awful last time and everyone hated you!" Michal blurted.

Seth blinked at Michal as he finally spat out what he really wanted to say. It was awful last time and everyone hated you! It was a fair point, he supposed but it was unexpected coming from Michal. So much had happened so quickly last time around, Seth couldn't really pinpoint any one thing to blame.

"I was a conceited git. Even I hate who I was back then, but that has nothing to do with Savannah. I'm pretty sure being with her was the only good decision made in those three years." He said not quite sure how to approach this. There was an unsettling feeling that everyone hated you really meant I hated you.

"It's not going to be like last time." Seth said with a tone that really didn't room for argument. He was determined this time. This time would make everyone forget there was even a last time. "I'm sure less people will hate me, and I'm going to make sure its not awful."

"I don't hate Savannah! I said it's not---" Michal started, his voice raising in frustration. Seth wasn't listening, and was crazy to think that he could so intently, with such determination in his tone, think that it wasn't going to be like last time.

"How? How are you going to do that?" Michal let out, dubious sarcasm dripping from his words. Frustrated, he pressed his palm to his own forehead. This wasn't what--- was this really what he wanted to be talking about? He didn't want to be doing this at all, let alone in a Charlie Spinner infested party.

Parties! He hated parties, especially parties that weren't even centered around him or his interests. Why was he even here, talking about--- it wasn't even--- Merlin this headache forming was worse than a well-watered hangover. Just wanting this to be over, Michal let out a great sigh and threw his hands down to his sides. He really just wanted to punch Seth in the face and get over all of this. That was how it always went, didn't it? They would punch each other in the face over something stupid (or not stupid), and get over it.

He really wanted to punch Seth in the face.

He probably shouldn't punch Seth in the face, should he?

Michal let out another sigh. Stepping close to Seth again, he spoke quickly. "If you promise me you're not going to morph into that guy from five years ago, and let me punch you in the face right here, right now, then we're good. I'll believe you and we can we can do--- whatever, whatever wedding things, whatever you want and I won't bring any of this up again."

Seth stared at Michal. He was a different person, that's how he was going to do it. It was offensive that Michal thought that he would do the same thing again. But before he could even open his mouth to tell him off, he was speaking again.

He pursed his lips looking Michal over before firmly cuffing him on the back of the head. "No you can't punch me you idiot. What's wrong with you?" Seth shook his head. He ought to just punch Michal for the suggestion. "A fist fight in the middle of the World Cup After Party? Is that what would make you feel better? Make me look like I lost it just because England didn't win. I'm not that guy, I'm not going to be that guy ever again. Believe me because you believe, not because I let you use me as a punching bag."

He folded his arms across his chest glaring at his friend. Let me punch you in the face. The audacity. After a moment though, his glare faded and he rubbed his had down his face. He had been a shit friend back then, but that was because of other reasons, not because he married Savannah. "I'm not going anywhere Michal. I have a house in Falmouth, I've just extended my contract. This isn't five years ago."
