The touch of Evan's lips was like taking a breath of fresh air--the best feeling in the world, and only amplified by the fact that they had just gotten through a very, very rough few weeks in their relationship. Things promised to continue to be rough, at least marginally, due to the nature of her problem, but at least the worst was over. People would tell her that the getting over alcoholism was going to be the worst, but Cecilia didn't believe that a bit; having to do without Evan was the worst thing that had happened to her in as long as she could remember, and she knew that if he hadn't been there, there wouldn't be any getting over anything. Truthfully, if things hadn't turned out the way they had, she was pretty sure she wouldn't find the motivation again until it was far too late.
Thank Merlin for this man, honestly.
One of her knees pressed into the couch on his right side and she leaned forward into him slightly, taking his face in her hands as she did so. Lucky, she was so bloody unbelievably lucky.
