Stupid Boy :]
She probably should not have stabbed the cadaver as much as she did. Erin grimaced and picked up her wand, fixing the mess she'd made and pushed the body back into the wall of cabinets of the laboratory. That was the third time she'd done that today, and it was probably a good idea to just go home and forget about work, but Avis was out for some training session with the new aurors (Will was an official auror! Erin was so proud!), and she needed to be in charge.

Erin let out a breath and started back to the main tables, tying up her hair (which was a mess, holy shit--) and slipping off the lab robes because she'd splattered...something, on them. Ugh. Her eyes drifted across the room to her desk where she'd left her journal and...sighed. She wasn't very proud of herself, but at least she'd gotten a reaction from Rafe, right? It was something and...she...didn't know. She still didn't know what to do.

Fucking--stupid quidditch. Stupid cup, stupid team. Erin couldn't fathom hating a sport this much, but she was quite sure she could do without ever hearing the word quidditch again in her life.

She propped up onto a stool and swiveled around slowly as her shoulders slumped; as much as she hated to admit it, she missed that stupid boy.

It wasn't exactly the reaction he'd been expecting, but thank Merlin it was the one he'd been hoping for.

Letting her question fall as a rhetorical, his expression weakened with longing when Erin rushed him. The second of hesitation on her part did sting, but it was soon forgotten. Rafe looped his strong arms around the tiny blond in the over-sized lab coat and squeezed her to him until even he couldn't breathe. It had been too long.

But she hadn't really wanted to break up with him. Not that he felt any better about the whole thing. Seeing her tears was more than enough cause for him to feel like a complete wanker.

Rafe winced at her words. One of his large hands went to caress a calloused palm over her flushing cheek before hugging her to the chest of his robes. His chin drooped forward as he hung his head with a heavy sigh pressing out of his lungs.

"I'm sorry, I just..." The words caught on a sudden lump in his throat. Rafe swallowed roughly and slipped his fingertips into her hair. Instinctively, his fingers seized at a few locks and consequently mussed her ponytail. He'd missed her badly.

"I should have come sooner."

"I'm sorry, too," she let out in a weepy tone, sniffling greatly. "It was--immature and---and not nice and--"

Erin let out a great breath, pulling back slightly but not out of his grasp. God, it was exhausting going from furious to depressed to overjoyed to guilty to...to...she had no idea what she was feeling now. Loved, for sure, the fact that he'd come for her right away and was holding her so tight. Erin could just feel that he had missed her just as much as she'd missed him, and it was a good feeling, it was just--would it last?

They'd done this before, they'd had their fights over quidditch all throughout Hogwarts and his time spent focusing on it and--Erin understood that it was his job, it was his love for the game, but other people had lives outside of the sport, right? Right! Joy! Joy and Finn went on dates during the season, he paid attention to her, they had a baby and still managed--not that--well, she had thought about having kids with Rafe, but not---that he actually--

"I'm sorry, I just--I don't want to lose you again and I didn't know what else to do and...sorry," she said with a deep sigh, looking down between them. Her foot nudged his in some sort of apology. Her sisters were going to tear the mickey out of her for that bloody entry, oy.
