[Pri!]
Okay, so she had to admit it--this whole having twins thing may or may not have been a lot more awesome than Naija Patil would have brought herself to admit just a few short weeks ago. As she perused the pink forest of miniature clothing in the back of the department store, she had been 'aww'ing at and grabbing about every other shirt or onesie off of the racks, all the while justifying her ample collection of baby clothes with a mantra of 'well, there will be two of them.'

Just as she had thrown an adorable pair of socks sporting a fluffy rabbit on each ankle into the basket, yet another thing caught her eye and she tugged her husband's arm to turn and see. "Look, isn't this cute?" she asked,--well, more stated, actually--and with her free hand pulled two of the tiny jacket off the rack. "Oh, I hate it when parents dress their twins in matching costume all the time, but we've got so much in the way of different wardrobes, I think that just one jacket wouldn't be a crime, right?"

So maybe she was taking this a bit far, the whole shopping thing. Patil babies One and Two were going to end up having larger wardrobes than English royals by the time that she was done, and she could tell that Priyaranjan didn't exactly relish that she was spending their money on lunch hour, but! But well, Naija felt like she had to get all of this done, and as quickly as was possible. After all, she was a healer, she specialized in pregnancy and birth and she knew how little time that many parents of twins had before their children were born, and---Alright, shopping for clothes when she was barely over a month may or may not have been pushing it a little, but at least she was getting it done, right?

Not really waiting for an opinion, she put the jackets into the basket on top of the other pile of clothes and turned for a rare moment to regard her husband fully. "So, what have you found?"

And just when he was expecting to have the garment torn out of his hands and set on fire ... that kiss had been rather nice, honestly. He grinned faintly and cast a lingering glance toward Naija before he obediently picked up a few other colours from the pile (Naija-approved, of course) and pushed the thought of not being able to afford any of this far from his mind.

They'd just have to budget things that weren't important. You know, like ... food. They got practically free medical anyway, thank Merlin. He glanced up and down the rows -- how was there so much for a child to own? -- and then back to his watch. They were still doing all right for time which was a good. Naija would probably maim him if he gently suggested they should be getting back to St. Mungo's.

Once he had put the onesies in the basket, she dug through it gently with one hand, taking a mental survey of all that they were going to buy. It was still obviously very far from being enough, but well, this would not be the only shopping trip in the next eight-or-less months.

"Well, I suppose we've got enough clothes for now," she spoke her thoughts aloud, and then looked up to catch him glancing at his watch. "We've still got some time before lunch is over, right? Do you think we should check out the bedding section?" Naija asked rhetorically, attempting very hard not to be annoyed that he was so clearly wishing to get out of the store already. "I'd love to be able to get the nursery done by December, January at the latest---it just feels like there's so little bloody time to get it all together."

"For now," he amended as he glanced into the basket. Bedding, though, got him thinking. She was right - the few holidays that he took were often around Christmas and if he had to do any ... handiwork with charms and spells and things in the girls' bedroom ... well. It would be as good a time to do it as any.

Priyaranjan grinned a bit more eagerly. "I think that's a good idea -- at least figure out what sort of scheme we want to get going. I assume you're going to want a theme, right?" As long as it wasn't ... fuzzy iguanas or something horrifying like that. Those things were damned scary when they wanted to be! He wondered absently how parents gauged the comfort of the mattresses they were planning to sleep their infants on.

Naija was honestly surprised at Priyraranjan's genuine interest in her newest topic of baby planning, and it must have shown on her face. Maybe---maybe if she would just handle the clothes, she could put him in charge (although, of course, only under close supervision) of other aspects of things, she could get more enthusiasm out of him.

"I do want a theme, actually," she nodded, unable to help but smile as she finally felt like they were getting somewhere. "But what I'm not sure is if I want to bind the two together with one theme, or if it should be two slightly different ideas. I'm trying to think---if I were a twin, would I want to be more or less associated with my sister?" Because Merlin, she didn't want to make her future daughters think they couldn't have their own minds or something. Picking out the right themes to start them on was absolutely critical where that was concerned!

All right, so he had found a way to calm her down and keep her from tearing out his liver -- that was good. And he really was interested in building the nursery if he could manage it. He'd never been particularly good with that sort of magic, but now was as good a time as any to learn, right?

Right.

"Well," he started carefully, actually considering it himself, "If the ideas were only slightly different, I suppose they'd still feel as if they were sisters ... but perhaps wouldn't feel as if they were exactly the same?" That made sense, right?

"Yes, yes that's what I was thinking!" she exclaimed.

Oh wow, she felt so much happier than was normal over something so small. It was like euphoria, and Naija couldn't even place where it was coming from--how did women live like this for nine months at a time? Not that she anticipated dealing with it for a full nine months, but---ohhhh shit, that was right--

"You know, maybe we should try to get it all finished nearer to November," she mused, lifting a finger to tap her chin as she did the calculations in her head. "Then we can have time to get everything in it and buy all of the stuff we'll have forgotten, and I really don't want to work on things when I'm looking and feeling like a whale on dry land--"

Ah, there was that look of utter confusion from Priyaranjan again. It wasn't as if the baby was going to pop out of her any second and yet Naija seemed to think that rushing things would be the best course of action/

"Erm," yes, he was definitely going to have to word this in just the right way, "Perhaps the end of November, I wouldn't want us -- me -- to make a silly mistake because I was rushing to finish things before the first day of December." And because he knew that wouldn't likely be well-received, "And of course you can still be buying things at the same time as I'm working on the nursery once we decide what we'd like -- sort of like multi-tasking."

Women liked to multi-task, right?
