Day of running about
As it turned out, [info]doombuggie wasn't able to give me a ride today (I hope you're doing better than you were last night, dude, you sounded a bit ragged), but the bus routes that are running were running pretty well; the only real sign of the strike was that they were free (not that it makes any difference to me, I have a disability card and ride free anyhow). The only bad part (and it turned out to be a major negative, but I'll get to that later) is that they stop running at 7:30.

Left the house plenty early, and went to Cozzoli's for a gyro. Damn but it was huge! I was painfully stuffed. And it was gooood. I really love gyros. Then I went to the post office, to send out a BPAL bottle I'd sold. Once more I must observe that empty pill bottles make really good protective containers when shipping little glass bottles of smellies. And then it was time to head to MHMR.

Now, I'd allowed a lot of extra time in case I had long waits for buses, so I had a loooooooong wait in the MHMR waiting room. Which, as usual, bred resentment. MHMR treats their patients with pretty much no respect. When you check in at the front desk you have to give your social security number... I really don't like having to say it out loud in public in a busy waiting room. There are hardly any magazines in the waiting room, a real hardship when the case managers, nurses, and doctors are always running late. And maybe it's petty of me, but I think if there are posters and fliers in English, the information should also be posted in English!

And, indeed, both Brooks (my case manager) and Dr. Lodwick were late getting to me, although I suppose 15 minutes each is not horrible. I've waited much longer on Lodwick in the past. I asked Brooks for suggestions on finding a doctor because there's some stuff I'm a little concerned about, and she wasn't very helpful; you'd really think they'd have that information! And I talked to Lodwick about switching antidepressants; as soon as I can get to Walgreens I have a brand new prescription for Effexor. Bye-bye, Zoloft, hello brainshocks! But if it gets rid of a certain extremely frustrating and somewhat embarrassing side effect of Zoloft, it will be well worth it.

And now, the real heartbreak of the transit strike! I was reading The Onion while I was waiting, and there was a Bookpeople ad; Alison Bechdel was doing a signing there this evening! I would have really, really liked to go, because I like her a lot, and I could have gotten there in time, even with the appointments running late... but it was significantly likely I'd miss the last bus if I did. Curse you, Capitol Metro!

But on the plus side, when I got home there was a package for me; the bath stuff I ordered from Woobie finally came! So I took a nice bath with maple-scented foaming milk bath. Very, very nice.

So, I had a day.
