To Micah
Having just found out that Ally and Clark were taking vacation at the same time, Wyatt was currently at his desk, considering the implications of that. No one (except Liam) knew if they were going on the same vacation or not. It could have been as simple as not wanting to find a substitute interpretor for Ally. Or it could have been as complicated as another office romance. Wyatt was very sharp, obviously, but if asked to read his friends' behaviors, Wyatt turned almost useless. He didn't have that kind of savvy. He kept stealing glances at the two of them, wondering if other people were suspicious about him and Micah like this.

When he saw Micah come back in from interviewing a suspect they had in custody, Wyatt straightened in his chair, suddenly ultra aware of how he reacted to the sight of the man. It sent his senses reeling.

Micah never seemed to worry about what others might be thinking of him and Wyatt. To him, as long as they were doing thier jobs, and doing them well... Well, it was no one's concern what they did in their private lives. Or, what very little they had of their private lives.

After speaking with a suspect in their current case concerning the dead hookers, Micah was ready to call it a day even though it was barely noon. He really just wanted to sleep for a few days. He was absolutely exhausted, and it showed as he dropped down into his chair.

"You look spent," Wyatt observed with concern. His instinct was to shuffle Micah back to his apartment and take care of him. What a strange urge, he thought to himself. He wanted to tuck him into bed and crawl in next to him, protect him...it was evolutionary, of course. Wyatt just never thought that he'd be feeling like that about someone.

He twirled his pencil in his hand and then reached down into his desk drawer to pull out his notebook where he kept information about Micah. He'd shown it to him, not wanting him to think he was hiding his neurosis from him. He just liked keeping notes about people, especially people as fascinating as Micah.

Micah was definitely coming down with something. He hadn't been feeling up to par the past few days, and he hadn't been sleeping well. He had a fever and a scratchy throat, but he was one of those types who simply hated going to the doctors so he refused.

"I'm all right," he said as he rubbed at his eyes with the tips of his fingers and swallowed hard. "Just tired, that's al."

He glanced down at his notes, reviewing the last few days. It was as he suspected: all of the signs and symptoms of a virus taking root in Micah's system. "The FBI has a remarkable health insurance program, you realize. You'll be wanting to take advantage of that, along with some rest and plenty of fluids. If you leave now, you can be home and in bed in about twenty minutes, given traffic averages for this time of day. I'll bring you soup when i get off work."

"I don't want to go to the doctor," Micah practically grumbled, and he slumped forward to bury his face against his arms with a little sigh. "I'm fine. I think I just need a nap."

Denial. It was a beautiful thing. Even in the face of what Micah knew was more than just lack of sleep, he refused to see it as much. He was just tired. Plain and simple.

Wyatt looked at Micah with patience and logic. "You've been appearing less alert, and your voice has neraly gone down an octive. Plus, you've been showing signs of muscle aches." He turned the notebook on its end so Micah could see the meticulous little entries in it. The evidence was irrefutible. Or, at least, Wyatt thought it was. "I'll let Liam know you went home to take a nap. There's a walkin clinic that we can go to tomorrow if your symptoms get worse of if you develop a fever on top of what I can only imagine is a sore throat." He stared at Micah expectantly, just waiting for him to oblige.

Micah rubbed at his face again, which was a little scruffy from lack of shaving, and when he let his hands drop down he looked over at Wyatt with a faint little smirk of amusement. The kid was sweet, and so strange. Micah loved both qualities very much.

"Fine," he agreed, "But I do expect soup later," he added as he got to his feet to tug on his jacket and scarf.

Soon enough he was back home with antibiotics, throat spray, and cold medication. He had ended up on his couch, passed out face first. He was glad he'd given Wyatt a key because he couldn't fathom getting up now that he was laying down.

Wyatt felt a small amount of triumph for convincing Micah. But he worried the rest of the day. Sneaking out just a little early, he stopped by the grocery store and bought two toothbrushes, chicken soup, 7up, and soda crackers. When he got to Micah's place, he let himself in quietly and was surprised to find him on the couch.

"The bed is probably more comfortable," he noted mildly as he went into the kitchen to warm up the food. When he returned, he set the bowl on the coffee table and scooched the patient over so he could sit on the couch too. Normally, he feared getting sick, especially from germs he knw were there. But Micah's germs were different.

Micah lifted his head up and furrowed his brow as Wyatt got settled on the couch with him. It took him a moment, but eventually he rolled over and rubbed a hand over his face.

"When'd you get here?" he asked softly, still not sitting up all of the way or reaching for the soup. He needed a moment to recover. Moving to fast was proving to be difficult.

Wyatt blinked. Micah was usually so alert and this was a marked difference. He smiled a little. "Just a few minutes ago. Don't worry. You didn't miss much." He reached out and felt Micah's temperature. His mother had done that to him, even though he'd always informed her that she couldn't really tell if he had a fever that way. "I brought your soup. It will help calm down your neutrophils and that should help congestion."

"I have no idea what you just said," Micah said as he managed to sit up. He propped himself up against the pillows and let Wyatt feel his forehead. He was a bit warm, and he definitely had a bit of a tempeture. He reached out for the bowl of soup and held onto it, though he made no move to eat any just yet. "Thank you," he said softly. "You're sweet."

"Too bad I can't make a logical scientific claim that sex cures the common cold," he quipped. The more time he spent around Micah, the more he picked up the ability to crack jokes. They were always a little awkward, but he was practicing and getting better. He offered an expectant smile, like a puppy waiting for praise.

"You'll be staying home tomorrow, I suspect. I already told Liam." If the man hadn't assumed they were together before, he kind of did now. He didn't mind, of course.

At the little joke, Micah smirked a little bit and finally raised a spoon full of soup up to his mouth to blow. He took a tentative bite before he closed his eyes and curled his legs up.

"You better be careful," he told Wyatt, "You might catch what I have."

"It's likely that I will catch what you have, but with intensive hand washing, and vitamin C, perhaps my immune system can fight it off. I do believe taking care of you will be worth the risks." He observed the man carefully, frowning when Micah didn't seem very hungry.

"Plus, I can't stand the thought of you sitting here alone when I could use this opportunity to spend more time with you. Even if you're sleeping."

At that last sentence, Micah couldn't help but let out a chuckle of amusement and he stretched his legs out so that his feet were settled across Wyatt's lap. He took a few slow bites of his soup before he leaned his head back and sighed through his nose.

"I absolutely hate being sick because I feel completely useless," he said quietly.

"You know, the US is one of the few rich nations that doesn't mandate any sort of paid sick leave. Studies have shown that paid sick leave encourages people to stay home when they're actually ill and that leads to less contagion and overall less sick leave taken. So really, when you're ill, the most useful thing you can do is stay home and rest." He smiled and put his hands on Micah's feet.

He glanced at the table and noticed the accessories. "Did you go to the doctor by yourself?"

"Yeah, I figured I might as well get it over with," Micah answered with a faint smile. He took a few more bites of soup, then put it aside before he relaxed against the couch again. "The sooner you go, the sooner you get better. Usually, anyway. I don't want to get anyone else at work sick."

This felt so domestic and Wyatt didn't want to admit it, but he was kind of enjoying Micah's illness so far. Not that he wanted the man to be miserable, but it was so nice to feel like he could take care of him. Micah seemed to be the one who would always be taking care of him.

"Good, I'm glad. I would have been diagnosing you all night if I didn't know you'd already been."

"I believe it," Micah said with a faint smirk of amusement. He reached up and tugged the blanket that was draped over the back of the couch down and over himself, and he scooted back to make room for Wyatt in case he wanted to lay down, too. "Any interesting breaks in the case since I came home? Or any Wyatt-genius theories?"

Taking him up on his tacit offer, Wyatt lied down next to him. "Ally's doing some more handwriting analysis of the letters the stalker sent. It's highly likely that we've found the killer, but it's proving difficult to pinpoint his location. I feel bad for Ally having to read those letters though. They got pretty graphic."

Micah frowned. He'd read them all, unless they'd gotten a new one earlier in the day, and Wyatt was right. They'd gotten pretty graphic, and it was disturbing to read them, no matter how much Micah had seen over the years working in law enforcement or with the bureau.

"Mick seems pretty invested in this case, she talks to Brie quite often," he noted. He had a feeling Mick was interested in the girl, but he hadn't said so outloud just yet.

Wyatt had noticed that she spoke to Brie often, but more like a strict measurement of time rather than an indicator of something more. Micah was good at those things though, reading people and understanding motives. "Invested? Moreso than in any other case?" Mick was the devoted sort, committing herself to her job in all situations. It was peculiar to Wyatt for Micah to mention her investment specifically to this case.

"Yeah, I don't know," Micah said quietly as he looped an arm around Wyatt's waist and turned onto his side so that they were even closer together. "Just... Have you seen the way Mick looks at that woman? There's something there. I just don't know what."

Raising his eyebrows, Wyatt wasn't sure what to make of that. "Something more than just concern for her well being, you mean? You know--I've never actually read any statistics about forensic employees getting involved with victims. I'm sure studies have been done on it, but it's never occurred to me as something that happens."

Not that Micah had outright said anything about a romance, but that's often what people meant when they talked about one person looking at another in a certain way.

Micah couldn't help but smile. He loved that Wyatt's brain always seemed to go to statistics, or something scientific. While some people found it annoying or bothersome, Micah genuinely found it endearing and sweet.

"Oh trust me, it definitely happens," Micah said softly. "Mick has the hero look in her eye. It's sweet."
