Nobody but Avalon is Home Henry and Josh are out doing whatever it is they had decided to do, and Avalon was at home alone. Really he didn't mind some alone time, it gave him a chance to get himself together and wash some clothes and other mundane things that needed to be done. Even heroes need clean clothes.
Since he is alone, Avalon takes the time to practice his dance a bit. He's not done any classes for all of the summer and is worried of being rusty, and so he works on it. In fact, he's in the middle of the living room, the furniture pushed carefully out of the way as he works on his pointe. He needs to strengthen his legs and ankles, and so is carefully prancing about on his toes, turning slow pirouettes and working from going from flat to pointe.
He's so busy working that time passes quickly, melting away for the blond teen.

Since his fathers were tired of seeing him grump around the house, Alex Rice-Matthews has been sent on an errand. Dropping off some kind of box for Hal Jordan from Todd and Damon. Something about a thing for something Alex didn't pay attention to. He figured he'd get to spend some time with Henry anyway.
So he flew out to LA via-ring power and found a secluded place to change to civvies. He then took a bus and then walked. Now he's on the doorstep to the Jordan household, ringing the bell. "Hope someone's home..." he mutters.
The doorbell rings and Ava blinks at the front door owlishly. Who in the world could that be? Shrugging to himself he makes his way over, twirling a bit here and there before he lowers to flat and then opens the door as he runs his fingers through his sweaty hair. For a second, he blinks at the taller teen before he then says "Oh hey Alex.. How are you?"
Alex blinks when he sees a sweaty Ava. "Hey...sorry if I interrupted you and Henry gettin' it on but my Dads asked me to drop this off for Henry's dad..." he trails off, showing a small box wrapped in brown paper. "Guess I'm...doing okay, all things considered," he sighs.
That just causes Ava to flush and he gives his head a shake as he says "Henry's not here.. I was just dancing. In fact, no one's here. Henry and Josh went off and I stayed home to take care of some stuff."
He takes the box and then opens the door more widely, and steps back some to make room for Alex, "Come on in." he says with a smile.
Alex blinks then his expression deflates a little. He'd been hoping Henry would be around. "Yeah, I saw Doctor Boy out in the city on my way over..." he trails off. "Dancing?" the lantern asks.
He's a little surprised to be invited in but steps in anyway. "Umm, thanks."
Smirking a bit, Avalon just shrugs his shoulders, his tone soft as he says "I don't know how I'm hung, I guess it's okay? I dunno."
He goes to stand, stretching himself some before he asks "Do you want something to eat or drink? I'm starving - I think I'm going to have a sammich." He then sighs out a breath and pulls his wings out of their pocket universe and then gives them a flap or two before he finally folds the feathers against his spine.
Alex laughs. "Well, you should have your healer boy measure the three of you sometime," he says, smirking.
"Sure," he remarks. "I could use some food. One of those sandwiches and a soda?" he asks. As the wings appear, Alex jumps. "Whoa..." he trails off. "Pocket universe, eh?"
"Yea well.. kinda hard to pass for human when.. you don't really look totally human in your natural form." replies Avalon gently, before he nods his head and goes on to say "Henry taught me how to do that.. It was kind of critical if I was going to have a life outside of my uniform.. Being able to put them away is what let me be able to dance and like.. go to school."
Leading the way into the kitchen, Ava pulls the peanutbutter out of the fridge and then pauses before asking "What kind of sandwich do you want? I usually eat peanut butter but.. t hat's just me. I'm not used to all the meat that I have access to. Not that it's not tasty, it's just.. I'm still not used to it."
Alex nods. "Yeah, that makes sense," he says. "School's a pain, isn't it?" he asks, following.
"Peanutbutter and jelly is fine with me," Alex declares with a grin.
Nodding his head with a smile, Ava launches into making sandwiches, poking about in the kitchen and pulling out jelly and bread and everything else they might need. He ends up with two sandwiches and some potato chips piled on two plates. He then turns and goes to the fridge, saying "It looks like.. we have root beer. Is that ok?"
Eve though Alex refuses to cry, Avalon still feels it and his heart aches for Alex. He still doesn't understand the emphasis that humans put on things such as sex - love is love to him. Why deny it?
He reaches out and rubs at Alex's back in a supportin manner, his tone soft as he says "He didn't deserve you. There will be someone else, and they will be exactly Wharton need."
Alex leans against Ava and gives another empty little laugh. "Been saying that long enough..." he trails off. "Just...finally thought I'd found someone," he sighs. "Seeing everyone on the JSA and all my other friends finding people...it's just..." he shrugs.
Does Alex notice that Avalon's eyes have changed? Instead of heir usual ocean green- blue color, they have shifted to black and bright blue. The Blue Lanyern symbol.
"You have lost Hope because of your broken heart." he says softly, his voice gentle and breathy all at once. Scooting a bit closer, Ava smiles brightly as he leans in and perhaps unexpectedly he swoops in and presses a kiss to Alex's cheek. Without Henry near, he can not create constructs, but that doesn't stop him from being able to infuse others wih the blue light of Hope. "All will be well, this I know." Avalon breathes out as he leans back.
Alex didn't notice at all, having been staring down at his own ring. He glances up at Ava's words and blinks. The kiss makes him pause and stare. "Wow..." he trails off.
Rather happy and fluffy with his wings pulled around the two of them, Ava gives Alex a bright smile and nods his head. "The world is a harsh place, but I have enough Hope to share with everyone whom has lost theirs. I am happy to help however I can."
"Ooooh I got it confused, I thought you'd moved from New York." says Avalon as he nods his head and leans back into the couch. "I see.. Well.. What do your parents think about your moving and all? I assume you went without them?"
Alex leans back. "Well, I moved first and spent about half a month on my own. Then my dads moved out when they finished settling things in LA. We all live in New York now but I've got my room at the apartment and one in the JSA Brownstone so I have privacy."
"Thats so cool," Ava says with a smile. "We've been worrying about what is going to happen when school is out for good. Henry and I are a year ahead of Josh, so we're totally uncertain what will happen. It's kind of scary."
Alex frowns a moment and then shrugs. "Deal with it when it comes up and kick it's ass. It's what we heroes do."
"I know, I worry too much. All the time." replies Avalon with a smile. "I have to be careful how much I worry."
He pauses, then asks "Do you wanna go do something? I have no idea what, but it could be fun."
"All the way to New York?" Alex asks, quirking a brow. He then snickers. "Old hat?" he asks, reaching over to ruffle Avalon's hair again. "Yeah, it's something ya get used to."
Smirking all the more, Avalon says simply "I can warp across sectors in space and move faster than the speed of light.. Going to New York to fetch your board will take us like.. 5 minutes, 10 at the most."
He then shrugs a bit, and sinks down into the water, getting his hair and face wet before he comes back up and says softly "Things are so different here, things that you guys take for granted I find fantastic. I guess it's just still part of my getting used to how things have changed.. I mean.. It took Henry and Josh both yelling at me before I realized it was okay to even take my dance lessons."
"So you wanna warp back home then back here?" Alex asks. He watches Ava dunk himself and chuckles. "You'll get used to things eventually, Avalon," he says. "Just stick with it."
"I've gotten better at things, it's really just an adjustment y'know?" replies Ava. He then shrugs again and grins, saying "Only if you wanna go, we don't have to. I just thought I'd offer." Smirking all the more, he splashes some at Alex, his expression far too entertained as he says "Or we can just swim around and play and you can come back and surf another day. It's all up to you, really."
Alex nods, stretching a bit. "I understand. It makes sense...and like I said, you'll adjust more just fine," he says, splashing back. He thinks for a few moments then shakes his head. "Next time. Hanging here with you is fun enough." |
