I will wait and guard
It was another day for the team. They had dealt with another disaster doing as much as they could to get everyone to safety. Jess thought everyone had gotten out fine. Only that wasn't true. She heard about a cop who had died doing his duty. He had gotten his partner and a couple of kids to safety.

Jess felt a sense of guilt over it. So she did what she thought was the right thing. She didn't wear a badge so instead she put a black arm band over around one arm close to her shoulder where it might go over a patch if she had one.

She was going to go to the wake. It turns out that the wake was going to be running all night just in case anyone wanted to sit with the body. She had seen lots of cops and a few fire men go in and out all night. She was getting tired but she felt like this was a personal failure so she was going to stay the entire time. Jess was aware though that she was getting very tired. She really wants a cup of coffee. She doesn't want to give up her vigil though.

She would feel guilty for failing this cop again.

Coffee is brought, but probably not by who she'd expect. Saishu hadn't been at the funeral, at least not in obvious fashion. Its only once the crowd thins out that she can be seen, bringing a steaming mug for her teammate.

"Will help. Drink."

What's in the cup falls somewhere in between 'roofing tar' and 'will threaten to eat any spoon you try and stir it with', but there's no question - it should wake her up.

	Wakes are just part of the whole funeral experience. Jess had only ever been to one funeral before for a distant Aunt. She still wasn't sure what she should feel. She blinked at Saishu then nodded and started drinking. At first she thinks this is the worst coffee ever but then she starts to wake up. It is the BEST cffee ever. "Thanks." 	Saishu's very own ~~Red Lantern aggression-flavored~~ Turkish blend coffee. Along with simply strong, its also has its sweet side, once the drinker gets past the instinctual need to chew on it. I... don't think that will happen. He has only had to draw his gun three times in twenty-two years. Cop shows make it sound more dramatic than it really is for a detective, usually. Unless you're in Gotham of course. Gotham is dangerous. They say the two best places to be a cop are in Central City and Keystone. Dad likes Coast City though. And I like Chicago."

She has no idea why she is saying all of this.
