Matthew, Melinda, and Marlene McKinnon at a family wedding only two weeks prior
Late Saturday night the Dark Mark was thrown over the household of Marco McKinnon, a highly ranked officer in the Magical Law Department. Aurors on the scene immediately found the bodies of his entire family strewn across the house in no kind of order. McKinnon has not been involved in any recent laws or procedures that may have caused controversy, but his eldest daughter, Melinda McKinnon, is a very vocal muggle-rights activist who recently began a campaign to make Muggle Studies mandatory at Hogwarts.
Unfortunately, the rest of the family did not have such strong ties. Wife Olivia was a wedding dress designer; daughter Marlene was a budding actress, engaged to Cannons Captain Vin Gudgeon; son Matthew was Junior Chief Resident at St. Mungo's Hospital; and daughter-in-law Deidra was an astrologist at the Starky's Planetarium in Diagon Alley. The only survivor of the night was McKinnon's grandson, who was asleep in a room upstairs. He's been taken into ministry custody while arrangements and protective services can be made.
