Peter!

Dexter scrunched her nose as she came in from the muggle entrance of the Leaky Cauldron, smiling at the waiter and Tom the bar-man. She shook her self a little, to get the lingering chill off of her. Ugh, she hated walking places, but it was better than flooing, ew. And there was just stuff she had to do at the London Library and sometimes at the University's library, so ventures into the muggle world were frequent. She loved the underground tube and autos and how fast they went, only they made walking more difficult though.

Instead of getting lunch in some cafe, Dexter had come here in hopes of finding Not-Peter, and looking around the pub she spotted him sitting alone with papers and looking kind of busy. She hesitated before heading over to him, interrupting him while working wouldn't be good, she hated it when people bothered her while she was working but... she'd already told Peter that she would find him today so, Dexter walked over and sat down in the chair across from him, looking expectant and cold.

"Stupid Goblins...stupid Gobbledegook...stupid Valentines Day..."

Peter grumbled quietly to himself as he scribbled out a line he had just written down in the very odd and hard language, realizing that it wasn't at all what he had wanted to write. He had to keep looking back and forth between text books to get the right words. Sirius had asked him to do him a favor, and he had agreed to it ( as he always did ), so he couldn't back down just because he was having a hard time translating, right? Right. Because a friend wouldn't do that. Nope!

But this was really starting to annoy him, having to look from one text to another, going through sheets and sheets of paper because he kept messing up. It was either because he had written down the wrong letter, or the wrong version of the word, or had phrased something differently, but he was still going through ink and parchment very quickly.

Resting his left elbow on the table, he slid his hand through his hair, writing down the same sentance again, not even realizing that someone had sat down until he suddenly saw them out of the corner of his eye, which caued him to look up from what he was doing as he went to dip his quill in the ink, nearly knocking over what little bit he had left. It probably would have gone everywhere if he hadn't caught it just in time, only looking to the girl after he got everything straightened out. "Sorry, didn't see you sitting there. I wasn't expecting anyone to be sitting there, so..." He looked at her for a few more seconds before he suddenly realized that yes. Yes he did know who she was.

"You're...Dexter, yeah?"

Dexter hid a smile by biting her lip as she watched Peter catch the ink spill. It would have been no big deal, because she did it all the time and was pretty good at getting it cleaned up quick, but she did give him a little round of applause, "Nice catch. I generally end up with the entire bottle in my lap. And yes, but you can call me Dex, because Dexter is a boys name and also short for poindexter and I'm totally not one of those. So yes, Dex is good."

Nosy by nature Dex leaned over the table to look at what Peter was doing. "Gobbldegook? Are you writing to a goblin? Wouldn't it be easier to talk to one?" She pulled over one of the discarded pieces of parchment and read a line before raising an eyebrow and putting it back on the table and looking at Peter curiously, tilting her head a little to the side, "I'm no expert, but...are you trying to romance a goblin? I was expecting something but... Cyrano de goblin was not what I was expecting. Do you work with goblins then? Oh! And before I forget!"

Dexter held up her finger to make him pause before pulling out a wrapped package of cakes and passing them over to Peter. "Not red but not heart shaped neither. They're green tea cakes? I didn't try them but everyone else was buying them so I figured they'd be tasty." Honestly she didn't try them because they were green and kind of looked like a potion ingredient but she wasn't going to tell Peter that. "I hope it doesn't taste like green tea though, that would defeat the purpose of it being cake."

He couldn't help but be confused as to why she was clapping, and was very happy when she started to explain herself. "Oh, yeah, I uh...it usually spills on me too, that was just a rare stroke of luck, that was." He began to fix his papers, trying to get them into a neater pile because he didn't want to be perceived as a slob or anything. His mouth curved into a smirk as she went on about her name. "Alright. Dex, then."

He looked around to see if he had dropped one of his Quills, leaning underneath the table to try and grab it when he had spotted it, but because she had just asked him if he was trying to 'romance a goblin', he wound up whacking his head on the edge when he tried to sit up. "Ow! What? No! No, no it's nothing like that, I'm just writing it for a friend because he asked me too and--"

He stopped talking, now just rubbing the sore area at the back of his head, frowning because it was really starting to hurt. But the pained expression sort of left his face as he stared blankly down at the package that was placed infront of him. His brows raised slightly before he turned back to her. "I, uh...I didn't know I was supposed to get something. Like I said I didn't expect anyone to be here, let along have anyone giving me...green tea cakes." He caught how rude this might have sounded. "Not that I'm not appreciative, because...well, they're great! Well, I hope they are, and even if they aren't it's just the thought that counts, yeah? But I feel like a bit of a git for not getting you anything, even though I didn't think I needed to...because I didn't think you'd be here."

"So you're writing a goblin love letter for someone else? I think you need some new friends, Peter Pettigrew. I like your name by the way, it's kind of fun to say. Pe-ter-Pet-i-grew," Dex said, enunciating his name with a little exaggeration and a grin. "Gobbledegook isn't really the best language for love letters though, plus, I don't think she - or he would be able to read it. It's not a very pretty language, is it? Not that a language has to be pretty, there are just ones that are just...not."

Dex leaned forward, looking a little concerned for him, "Is your head alright? No bleeding, right? If there's bleeding you should get it checked out, though there's probably nothing wrong with it, because well, head wounds tend to just bleed and bleed but it's not really hurt you know? Just a cut or scrape really."

She waved him off for the tea cakes, not realizing his discomfort, "It's nothing Peter. I just got that you didn't like today you know, so I figured a treat but not one of those pink or frilly ones because if anything today is more singles-awareness-day and yeah, I'm single so I figured I'd get you something. Not that that means that you're single or anything but yes. Sweet cakes."
